This neighborhood institution in WeHo always provides warm and friendly service and tasty food. I have spent several special events/holidays here and have never been disappointed. They are festive and fun and totally charming. I love the regular crowd and support for this local business– it is well deserved!

My girlfriend went for a walk and randomly chose this place when she took a liking to someone else’s meal. Professional yet casual and very pleasant staff all round. Unfortunately I cannot remember our waiters name though he was excellent, very attentive and very friendly. We both ordered specials(catfish and Irish stew) we didn’t speak the entire meal as we couldn’t stop eating it was so delicious. The café was clean, tidy and we thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our visit. No faults so an easy rating. Would recommend and will return.

We had a small brunch/production meeting at Café D’ Etoile on November 1, 2015 and I very much enjoyed it. This was my first time there. The staff is very friendly, it’s not loud so we could all speak to each other at a comfortable volume, I had the corned beef hash and it was wonderful and the prices are very reasonable. What’s not to like about that? I’ll definitely go there again.

This place is awful with horrible customer service. The bartender thinks he’s some bad bi_ch and refused to serve me a second drink. FORNOREASON. Don’t know his name but he’s average height, beige and balding. The Bartender aka the help looks like Casper the ghost. Avoid him at all cost cuase his drinks are week as fuc_

My favorite bar in Weho, but I’m not writing this so you go! It’s a hidden gem(but well known at the same time) that feels better than home. Randy is by far the best bartender. He’ll make you laugh all night and get you pretty drunk off of one martini. I guess that’s what happens when you pour an extra glass on the side to accompany your original pour. Don’t worry, he shakes it back up for you again when you are ready! Just a great place with welcoming regulars. You see some of the same friendly faces every time you go. As a 26 year old lesbian, I am opposite of the typical customer you get here, and that’s another reason I enjoy it. if I were a good looking gay man in my 40s I would probably lose my shit this place is too good. One time I went there on a Sunday to do some work on my laptop and when I couldn’t get connected to wifi, the owner Tom walked to every neighboring bar and asked for a wifi code and when he found one(Starbucks) that didn’t quite reach my table, he poured me a coffee cup full of Chardonnay and walked me there. It’s stupid how good they treat their customers from day 1. 5 stars for the food, drinks, location and service.

Good food with an attitude. Don’t dare ask for separate checks, you will get that glare. The customer needs to figure that out not the employees. There just might be somebody rich in there so employee attitude is a must. Little do they know, just because we ask for separate checks, we are not second class citizens, but really who cares cause my house is paid for.

I saw this place while walking around and I loved the outside area. We were lucky enough to get a table outside on a Saturday night(wait was 20minutes). The olive, raisin, walnut bread was fantastic(I was also very hungry). Unfortunately the red wine was served too warm. The green salad as an appetizer was a nice start. I had the vegetarian pasta with mushroom and root vegetables. The vegetable/pasta ratio was perfect for me(I love vegetables) but the sauce was a little bland and too oily. All in all a great dinner experience. The food was good and service was very attentive. A great spot to go for a date. I would probably categories it more Italian than French because of their wide pasta variations.

I don’t know what to say. First of all, this café is a charmer. The antics of the Friday night Silver Daddies had us all quite entertained during dinner. However, the food left much to be desired. As I sat there, pondering life and my mere existence, I couldn’t help but try to figure out the weird taste in my mouth from the chicken potstickers. The location is prime WEHO realty. It doesn’t get much better. The décor is muted, and dare I say, dull. However, it screams personality. As I sat in our half booth, I said to the group, «do you guys feel like we’ve been transported to someplace different???» As the night progressed on, the silver daddies took over the restaurant. The service was total Palm Springs. It took forever for our waiter to actually service the table. p. s. I think he’s the owner too? Wtf? The food was weird. We ordered the chicken pot stickers and calamari to start. I’m told the calamari is the best in WEHO. Now those pot stickers tasted horrific. Like rotten cheese that’s been deep fried and dipped in soy. I ordered the chicken torta; «eh.» Fries were overly fried so very brown, dark brown. I like mine more medium, yellow. They were hardly frites; more like shoestring. The coleslaw I didn’t even try. The sandwich was basic, nothing to write home about, but the postickers taste lingered throughout the rest of my meal so it did influence each bite. We had a good time. It’s a great place. Very fun and good people watching. The food is not that great, but the drinks and high-energy make up for that. The menu was complicated. Severely complicated(like Palm Springs); I found it hard to digest, a tragic foreshadowing of what’s to come. We were about to order dessert but the night crowd started to pack in and get rowdy. We beelined it out of there… as soon as we could catch the server. I want you to know, this is one of those rare community finds, where little bits of history are kept. It’s the place so unique and sassy, you’re glad to have been invited to the party. I’d do it all over again; next time with more people, and no potstickers.

Service was horrible. Food was low quality with a high price tag. Server was so preoccupied with talking to patrons at the bar, he forgot to put in my order. He «didnt remember me ordering that» Well, maybe if you had written it down or paid a more attention instead of gossiping about grindr and poppers. All of my friends got their food and I had to wait like another 30 minutes. Wasnt given an ETA or even so much as an apology. Didnt offer a free dessert or compd drinks… NADA! Paid full price and he just pretended nothing happened. My NY strip med rare was the quality of steak youd find at norms or Ihop but for 26 bucks. It came with roasted red potatoes that were so tough and chewy and steamed veggies. Furreal. a stouffers frozen dinner would have been better. Dont understand the glistening reviews. This place is shite! I spit on it! Ptew!

The café is one of the best restaurants in all of WeHo. Perfect hole in the wall right on Santa Monica blvd full of charm. Really great place to eat before you go to a show at the Troubadour. Also perfect for a weekend brunch, the bread basket even rivals the one from Toast. Very easy to adjust dishes to dietary needs as well. Great atmosphere and perfect for a date night or a group birthday dinner! A + service! Come to De’Tolie

Wonderful local restaurant that’s been catering to the gay community for years and years. Love this place. The service is amazing, amazing, amazing, and always friendly. The Prime Rib on Friday nights is to die for as are the brunch specials on the weekend. The prime rib dip(on weekends when available), country fried steak, crab cake eggs benedict, and fish’n’chips are my favorites(oh, those and Chris’ sangria!)

Here again and I am still very thrilled with this restaurant. Such a wonderful place for a tasty meal. Tonight I had the Meatloaf and a Sangaria topped off with the perfect Latte. I have never had a below average experience here. In a town that let’s me down often this restaurant never has. Good times and better food!

Stopped in for a quick bite to eat with a friend of mine on Saturday evening and must say I fell a little bit in love with this cute, American/French style restaurant! I was extremely impressed with all of the staff, from the host who seated me to the servers who took my order and brought me my meal– they were honestly delightful and truly made this experience excellent. I ordered the Warm Duck Breast salad and loved every bite! The duck was tender, cooked to perfection and the sauce complimented the flavour well(although maybe a little too much sauce… but hey, it was delicious). My friend had some sangrias and they tasted pretty damn exciting as well! I will most definitely come back here at some point.

Second time I’ve been here. About the same experience both times. It’s not bad, but it’s also not great either. I do like the ambience in the back. It’s not super crowded, but there’s a nice skylight so if you have an early supper, it’s a pleasant area to sit and talk with a few friends. This time, I tried the soup of the day, which was a beef/potato soup. It was good, but just way too salty. I added half my glass of water… then it was really good. For appetizer, I tried the fried brie because it sounded interesting. I did like it, although a little over-fried. It came with tomatoes and cucumbers, which were OK. Tasted funny with the jam and brie I though. I ordered the steak sandwich for my entrée. It was also a little over-seasoned. The duck breast salad was also a little heavy on the taste. I would say that this place may be right for some people, but I don’t like to be hit over the head with strong flavors. I’d rather experience subtle and interesting flavors. Prices were also a little high for what you get, but it is located in a prime site in Weho. Name of the game here is overwhelming flavors.

We went to Café D’Etoile on a whim when Dan Tana’s had a crazy two hour wait(on a rainy Friday night). It’s small, but cozy and cute and they were able to seat us at a corner table without a problem. The server was very friendly and helpful. The menu is interesting — there’s a lot of what I would call«American» dishes, with a few very random Asian dishes(like Potstickers, Thai BBQ Shrimp, and Chicken Curry). I didn’t see many French items at all. To start, we had the Duck Pâté, which was delicious. The port wine on top added just the perfect amount of sweetness. I somewhat spoiled my appetite by eating more of it than I should have. I would definitely come back here for a glass of wine and some pâté. Speaking of wine, they have a decent selection with very reasonably priced bottles of wine($ 30 to $ 50). Finally, somewhere that you can get a decent bottle of wine with dinner without doubling your bill. The bread on the table was just okay… It went well with the Duck Pâté(better than the crackers it comes with, in my opinion) but I wouldn’t otherwise spoil my appetite eating the bread basket. For a main, I had the Chicken Linguine which comes in a marinara sauce. I liked that there was a pasta option with chicken(very rare if you ask me) but wasn’t too blown away by the dish itself. If I come back, I’ll try something else. Under $ 100 for two entrees, a shared appetizer, and a bottle of wine. Not bad. Café D’Etoile was good but not great for dinner. It looks like people really enjoy the brunch so I wouldn’t mind coming back to try that.

It’s good to have connections and to know people that know people! Well, it was a Saturday night and this restaurant was busy. My friend that lives in both New York and California was in town and invited several of us to dinner. We arrived before the rest of the party and mentioned my friend’s name and were instantly given a warm welcome. After being escorted to a table, we were immediately greeted by an attentive waiter. Our group only consisted of five, but we were ready to order for ten, as we were hungry. Actually, there wasn’t a need to order a lot of food because this restaurant gives generous portions. Not only generous portions, but the prices are reasonable. I opted for the Seared Chilean Sea Bass, which was remarkably tasteful, and this entrée was only $ 25.95. The Sea Bass was accompanied with potatoes, tomatoes, and red peppers. Easily, that entrée will be upwards of $ 40 elsewhere. I was able to taste a tidbit of one of my friend’s New York Strip Steak and it was mouthwatering, not to mention that it only cost $ 25.95, as well. Not sure if service was phenomenal because the staff knows my friend, but we were treated well. From my perspective, all diners were treated nicely. Food, service, and price get two thumbs up from me. This small restaurant knows how to cater to their customers and, undoubtedly, whoever is in their kitchen knows how to cook. The ambiance is nice, yet simple, and boasts of a French-inspired mural in the front of the restaurant. This restaurant has outdoor dining as well. We were all pleased with our meal and I look forward to dining again at Café D’ Etoile!
