Caryn is amazing! She really knows her stuff when it comes to the business side of acting, and the art of acting and auditioning. She has helped truly be more confident about my choices! When it becomes about work in acting it’s easy to lose yourself and forget to have fun. She’s helped me find that again and I’m so thankful to her for that. Let’s play, it’s playtime! :)

Hands down, The place to go if your serious about acting and learning inside tips from an amazing actress and coach. Caryn teaches her class with expertise, finesse, insight and humor all rolled into one. I’m so out of touch with today’s method of promoting myself & auditioning via social media. Caryn makes it user friendly. She also gives you excellent feedback and critique after she tapes your auditions. If you can get in, as her class fills up fast… consider yourself lucky. I’ve learned more in the last three weeks at her «Audition intensive four week class», then I’ve learned going to auditions myself in the last 15 years. Not one acting coach teaches you how to prepare for an audition, and Caryn does just that.

This is one of the best classes I’ve had since professionally persuing my career in acting. Not only does Caryn teach you how to be awesome in the audition room, on stage and on set, but in her on-​camera class, she showers you with knowledge to market yourself, the actor/​actress, as a business. What’s most awesome is that she practices what she preaches and that’s why she’s a consistently working actress.

FINALLY a teacher who is intelligent, thorough and concise, not in a smarty pants way, but in a really gifted teacher way. Caryn rocks! She gives you lots of information in very well organized handouts, its kind of like a free book so that you will always be able to review and sharpen your new auditioning skills. Of which there are many to be obtained here. This is not like other classes where you do a scene, the teacher gives
«adjustments», you do it again and then everyone thinks everyone is brilliant, you, the teacher, the class.
No, Caryn’s aim is that you do your absolute best when you’re in front of those who decide who will get the job. I think she has succeeded in demystifying the nerve wracking process of auditioning. This class is about the nuts and bolts and its really fun too. I recommend it highly !

I have had the privilege of working with Caryn West on two separate occasions when I needed to put myself on tape for auditions I wasn’t able to get to in person. One of those times I was already working on a TV show and dashed over to her studio during lunch. I barely had to time to look at the sides! Needless to say, I was stressed on more than one level. It was at that session where Caryn introduced me to my new favorite app called Rehearsal 2 but I’m here to talk about Caryn’s Space For Actors.
First of all, it’s an lovely studio nestled in the heart of Hollywood. Being aware that my time was limited we got down to business immediately. Caryn was already prepared to read with me having received the sides prior to my arrival. The camera was all set up and ready to go. We jumped right in and did a couple of takes. After slight adjustments we rolled camera again and knew we had more than one good audition to choose from.
Caryn West is extremely professional: very thorough and gives honest feedback if you request it. She understand the casting process, is savvy about good lighting and encourages you to step out of your comfort zone. On top of that, she will format and send the audition tape to your agent (or casting director) before you even leave the building!
Caryn’s Space For Actors is where I go whenever I need an audition tape with the same high quality I would expect from any casting office.

I’ve been hearing great things about Caryn for a long time, and I FINALLY decided this was the year. I’ve been acting professionally for over 25 years, and I had no idea how little I knew about auditioning. It’s been an exciting experience. Not only have I learned that I need to let go, but Caryn’s marketing and business acumen are invaluable. I attended Caryn’s weekend intensive in New York. She brought home lessons that I wasn’t ready for five years ago or even last year. I watch the videos of my work and see not just the progress of the weekend, but how far I’ve come in this work. Caryn took the time to allow me to keep trying until I could feel what a good take felt like.
Besides the expertise and experience she brought to class, the loving and supportive atmosphere she created made it possible for me to take it all in. Caryn really sees her students and her words and insight are transforming. The lessons were so many that I’ll be processing for years!

Just took the NYC Audition Intensive over the past weekend. Her approach works wonders. Before going into the class, I felt like I was spinning my wheels. Now, having gone through the intensive, I’m making traction and going forward with full force. Caryn gave a great analogy: You take the bike apart, get everything well oiled and grease, put it back together, and ride it smoothly. She wants you to succeed, and gives you the tools to do so.

Coming from a training background of theatre in NYC, I had very little experience in front of the camera when I started branching out toward television and film work in LA. Quite frankly, I really had no idea the best place to give my eyes focus in an
on-​camera audition, how much of an action I needed to do for it to read, and basically got into my head about it to the point where I lost my ability to simply tell a story. Caryn roots and teaches the actor how to love the camera so the people behind it will love them. By her «Carynisms», confidence, and her own ongoing acting credentials in the business, it is easy to see she has the knowledge and experience to share what is effective and what isn’t in an audition scenario. Caryn sincerely gave me simple ways to anchor myself, and broke the audition experience down for me through an understanding that eliminated negative expectations, and replaced them with tools that allowed me to easily understand the technical aspect of acting on-​camera, deliver more by doing, perhaps, a little less, and walking away knowing that no matter what the outcome ends up being, I know my work was solid. I am thrilled to say I booked my second audition in LA on an new HBO series, and I can confidently say I would not have booked it without Caryn’s audition intensive workshop and one –on –one coaching. Two thumbs up on my end, simply because her approach, well, it just really works!

I came to Caryn West’s class through a friend’s friend’s recommendation and I can honestly say that this was the first time that I felt I was legitimately investing in my career. Caryn’s approach to acting is not only effective in its simplicity and it’s old-​school attitude towards integrity and preparation, it’s also completely up-​to-​date with the latest in casting and online marketing. Do yourself the favor and take this class; essentially, I feel that actors in this town, particularly, will be at a serious disadvantage without Caryn’s frank and creative construction.

When it comes to training actors, Caryn is a Master teacher. I like to call her style «old school», because for me, she is a true Master. She is on par with the best in the business (past and present). Caryn hates when I call her old school, because when it comes to technology and the needs of the business, she stays up to date on current trends whether she is put you on tape or coaching via Skype.
Caryn is a «goto» coach and great resource. For those of us on the east coast, it’s a relief to get last minute sides and be able to contact her late (by east coast standards) for an audition the next day. Caryn works fast, and to the level of the actor and will get you where you need to know.
She’s too shy to mention the many celebrities she’s worked with and help land series, but make no mistake she’s their «goto» as well. If you live in LA… you’re lucky cause you can take her weekly class. If you’re in NYC, don’t miss her when she teaches her weekend intensive.

The Advanced Scene Study class that is taught by Caryn West and Jessica Kubzansky is without a doubt the best acting class I have ever had the privilege of attending. I have been in the performing arts as an actor, writer and musician for nearly 50 years. The combination of these two gifted artists/​teachers culminates in a class that covers acting technique, script analysis, character development, and all aspects of theater. The wealth of knowledge and experience these two exceptional artists bring to the class is extensive and inspiring. I had not set foot on a stage for over 20 years and within a short period of time I resumed my career as an actor because of the expert teaching I received in this class. A lot will be demanded of you in this class so be prepared to work your butt off. It is well worth it if you do.
