Custom Comfort Mattress

Purchased our mattress set in the Pasadena store about 4 months ago. We both have bad backs. We also bought the 3 inch topper. This is the ULTIMATE sleeping experience! Also the saleswoman was extremely helpful and very patient with us. We were there for over 3 hours trying various sets. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND this brand. we live in Ventura County and still received free delivery & removal service and 2 years interest free financing. All these points are important to us because we are in our 60’s and every decision to spend our hard earned money on a limited income is crucial to us.

I had a very good experience with the Custom Comfort Mattress store. The store/​showroom is very nice, peaceful and a great place to shop for a mattress. The mattress quality seems exceptional and they offer a range of different mattress types for all budget levels. Darina and Shilvani were very helpful with my mattress purchase. Both were very knowledgeable and guided me towards the best mattress for me (and my budget!). My mattress shopping experience (and delivery) was easy and hassle-​free –would def recommend. I have now had the mattress for a couple of months and I am very happy with my purchase.

We are in the midst of finishing a new home in the Palm Springs area that has been a 2 year project, and I’ll have to say that our bed buying experience with Custom Comfort has been the #1 experience of all the vendors that we have dealt with… and there has been a lot of them!
We stumbled into the West Hollywood store without having ever heard of this company before, and were pretty tired after our 45 minute presentation from the Duxiana rep down the street a few moments prior. We walked in and had a very informative and pressure free education from Gary. We tried a few beds, and pretty quickly found one that both my wife and I loved (which is tricky because we have different preferences). We were on our way back to Canada so left it at that and were going to think about it.
Upon our return we contacted Gary and were ready to place our order… but just before our designer found out about the thickness of the mattress (it had a top and bottom pillow-​top) and thought it would not work with our room set-​up. This began a back and forth with Custom Comfort and they were unbelievably patient through the whole thing and you could tell they just wanted us to be happy… you can tell they get that this is an important purchase.
We finally decided on the ‘Retreat’ bed with just a top pillow top. It was delivered by very courteous guys, and they even threw in a couple of amazing pillows that we are about to buy more of.
After a couple weeks of sleep, we were questioning whether the pillow top was a little too hard, and again contacted CC about our options. Even though the sale had been made, they provided the same pre-​sale service and offered to add softness/​replace the pillow top to see if that helped. My wife was hesitant to do just a 5% increase in soft instead of 10%, in case it wasn’t enough. They were quick to say let’s start with 5%, and if that’s still not enough we’ll do it again.
To top this all off, when we couldn’t find a time that worked for them to deliver another pillow top, they made a special trip all the way from LA to Palm Springs, on the memorial day weekend just so we’d have it before leaving for home. That’s unbelievable! The new top was the perfect adjustment, and we are now having sleeps that we’ve only dreamed of… they truly helped us find that perfect bed that I only used to think existed in 5 star hotels.
We’ve been living a nightmare after purchasing a home from Ken Bernard and Bernard Investment Group at Vail Dunes in Rancho Mirage, CA, and this bed has been the bright spot. We are now almost 8 months past our close date and still dealing with the consequences of Ken Bernard’s incompetence and disregard for his clients, so a good sleep has been a true blessing.

My 25 year old mattress still felt OK, but it was time to get a new one. This is not an easy task, as they’ve changed just about everything in the way they’re made. After much research, I decided on a local manufacturer that still made 2-​sided mattresses that you can flip, with good quality materials, instead of the one-​sided ones out there today apparently containing cheap materials. I wanted to get the air mattress they have at Hilton Garden Inns around the country, as they’re super comfy and I slept so well on them, but it was too complicated with shipping from the East Coast. I looked for something as comfortable as that.
Located in the design district of West Hollywood, the store is on the expensive side, but serene and beautiful to relax in while trying out mattresses. Just about anyone should feel comfortable shopping here for their mattress. They don’t carry their lower end mattresses as advertised on their website, but I think they’re in their other stores. The salesman, Melchor, did push me a tad into making a purchase on that day rather than come back to try them out again as I’d have liked to do, so I had an irrevocable sale since I’d ordered some customization to the mattress.
I chose the Renew 300 Queen and upgraded to an organic cotton cover, wool & cotton instead of foam (or latex) top cushioning and wool fire barrier, plus 6″ low profile springs to keep the height down. I went over my budget and spent about $ 3000 on the mattress, including tax, but I thought it was worth it for the quality. The delivery team of two was superb. They were respectful and careful in my home and even put the new box spring cover on as well as the bed skirt, before placing the mattress. Well done, delivery guys!
Unfortunately for me, the upgrades I’d chosen made the mattress waaaay too firm, and I had to have more than one adjustment made to it. They weren’t able to get it as comfortable for me as the store model was with it’s softer top cushion layer. I bought a 1″ thick all cotton mattress pad ($ 100): No good. Then a 2″ thick feather bed topper and cover ($ 200): a little better but still not good enough.
Custom Comfort is all about customer service, and I’d recommend them for that. They go to great lengths to adjust your mattress if it’s too firm or too soft. The guys come and pick it up in the morning and return it by 5pm! They’ll change the springs, adjust the the layers and/​or materials inside to try to get it right. Gary is especially helpful, and I like the family-​run vibe of the place.
We tried a few things but In the end, after months of sleep deprivation from tossing and turning on a too hard mattress, I came back to the store to get some help. After many visits, I chose to switch out to a latex mattress which seemed nice enough in the store. It too had to have an adjustment after I had it at home, to make it softer on top. I’m petite, so it’s important that I have cushioning on top, as I don’t sink very far into the mattress. This didn’t resolve the situation; it still felt like a slab – but a softer one.
The mattress is slightly larger than other Queen sized mattresses, which I had mentioned to Gary before he ordered the second mattress. He said he’d speak to the factory about it, but apparently that didn’t make a difference. It’s bigger all around, just by a tiny bit, which makes it so that NONE of my fitted sheets fit. I bought a «deep» fitted sheet in Queen size (another $ 80), and it’s too tight – not fitting around the corners of the top of the mattress. So, I guess I’m stuck for sheets too. I’ve managed to get by, by putting the fitted sheet on the 2″ feather topper alone. It doesn’t look very nice that way, but it’s the only way I can use my sheets. The top sheets won’t even tuck in around the mattress. I suppose now I will have to buy king sized sheets to fit this mattress. What an undesirable hassle. My guest bedroom has an Ikea foam mattress (25 year warranty) with a Beautyrest memory foam topper on it, that is amazingly comfortable and all sheets fit. Cost: about $ 500. You can also get a natural latex Queen mattress at Ikea for $ 1000, with wool wadding, though I haven’t tried one out.
I’ll never be able to sleep on this mattress without a topper, which means buying one about every 3 years as they wear out. At least I’m sleeping again for now, and since I’ve invested all of this money, I’m going to keep it for the time being.
My suggestion is that you don’t make customized adjustments to the mattress
displayed in the store, because you don’t know how it will feel in the finished product. I say this to customers, as well as the sales staff. Unless you need a truly customized bed, you’re rolling the dice. Ultimately, I never did get the wonderfully comfortable mattress I was looking for at this store, which is why only 3 stars. So disappointed. For customer service, I’d give 5 stars.

I couldn’t rave enough about this company! You don’t feel pressured by crazy sales tactics like I experienced elsewhere. They have mattresses that are over 40,000 but they don’t treat you like a peasant when you tell them you can only spend 1,500.
Apparently, its unheard of to have a flip-​able mattress these days, but Custom Comforts has pillow top on both sides and you can flip them! My most favorite thing about this company is that if your bed ends up being too firm or too soft after a few weeks sleep, they take it in and add or take out padding/​coils. It has a special barrier between the coils and foam to protect the foam from getting torn up through the years! I could talk about them forever, I wouldn’t even mind working there! My fiancé and I chose the enhance 2.0 and we love it so far. Thank you Darina for helping us with everything!

My husband and I found the perfect mattress 21 years ago — and now we wanted to get a kingsize bed to replace our beloved queen. I researched mattresses for over a year to find a place that could give us the comfort and flexibility of a two sided mattress that we had become accustomed to. No Luck. — Until I found Custom Comfort!!!
This was a wonderful buying experience and worth the 90 minute drive. They went out of their way to make my purchasing adventure less stressful. They worked with me on several fronts to accommodate my requests and when the bed was delivered — they even exchanged my box springs the next week to meet the height requirements of my four poster bed.
I highly recommend them!!!

I had a fantastic experience with Custom Comfort and I recommend them to anyone. I love my CC mattress and I’ve been sleeping much better since I got it. Beth Gomez, the sales associate, helped my wife and me find the perfect bed and made everything easy for us. We couldn’t be happier! The beds aren’t cheap but they are worth it. I give Custom Comfort my highest recommendation.

Gary was nice, personable and NOT pushy at all. We received an education on mattresses which was pretty cool. We painlessly bought a mattress and pillows and will definitely come back when we need to replace other older mattresses. Thank you Gary!

I’m so grateful for the high quality service I received at Custom a Comfort Mattress today. Daring was amazing, as was the other woman who’s name I didn’t catch unfortunately. I was a little worried I would get the Pretty Woman treatment because it’s such a nice area, and they have such high end merchandise, and I clearly don’t have a lot of money; but they were kind, warm, and welcoming, helping me find a bed that wouldn’t break my budget and working with me financially.
The fact that they can do adjustments to your bed is such an amazing perk when you go through this Orange County based company too. Mattress too firm? They’ll add layers of padding. Too soft? They’ll take some out. It’s amazing. Plus, as everybody has said here, ALL their mattresses are flippable unlike anything you’ll find at other stores. They have bisected mattresses of the top name brands compared to theirs so you can do a real comparison on how the beds are constructed too.
I absolutely recommend this place to anybody looking for a new bed.

The customer service is excellent. Liz helped me pick out my Inspire 101 after 1.5hrs of laying around everywhere. She was very informative and her fun personality added to the experience.

This review is, sadly, long in coming. But I had to make sure I did a review, because this place has, hands down, THE VERY BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE ON THE PLANET!:) I’ve now purchased two mattresses from them… a Queen a few years ago, and a King a little over a year ago.
I call myself «The Princess & the Pea», because I can feel ANYTHING under me when I’m lying down… (it’s incredibly annoying). Before my chiropractor recommended this place, while trying to replace my old mattress, I went through, literally, 7 mattresses from other places and 7 MONTHS of misery! Most of the mattresses that are made, now-​a-​days, are no longer «flippable»… which is a complete rip-​off! Other stores will tell you that they don’t need to be flipped… that’s a bunch of bull. And, really, it’s only common sense that a mattress will wear better/​more evenly when it is flipped/​turned every now and then. Do other mattress makers seriously think we are THAT stupid?! Not only that, but they are making them with such pathetic, disintegrating material that the mattresses begin to get «dumps» in them within a week! But not THIS place… they make «old-​fashioned», heavy, flippable, incredibly well made mattresses that have made me a customer FOR LIFE.
I also have another issue. Even though I am 5’9″, I don’t weigh that much… and my husband is so solid, that he weighs a lot more than I do. So, when he’s lying next to me, (on most mattresses), he creates a valley in the bed, and I’m left hanging on like a koala bear to the side of a hill. It throws my back out of alignment, and makes me absolutely miserable. It makes it difficult to even climb out of the «hole», (a.k.a. bed). ANYWAY… Custom Comfort mattresses are the ONLY mattresses that I’ve found that do not do that. FINALLY… PEACE!:) When we travel, neither one of us can wait to get home to our wonderful bed… that’s a great feeling!:)
I could go into all of the great lengths that Gary went to in order to make us happy, satisfied customers… but then this review would be so long that no one would actually read it. Just trust me… you will NOT be disappointed! A little extra money for an incredible mattress is worth it for your health, posture, relationship, and daily attitude!:) And, on top of that, you will feel like you’ve traveled back in time to the good old days when customers were actually valued, and service was given with pride.

It’s been a long time since I’ve visited a store where I felt the company truly cared about their customers. This is the case with Custom Comfort. Not only are their products first-​rate, but their custom service is first class as well. And I LOVE that everything is made in the USA and all their materials are natural. I will happily refer them to anyone I know who’s in the market for a new mattress. I searched a long time for a latex mattress. I’m happy I waited. My mattress is amazing!

We just purchased our first latex mattress from Gary and we are thrilled. We got the inspire 101 latex mattress and it feels like heaven. After doing a lot of research and testing out mattresses at many places, we felt this was the most comfortable and a great deal. Gary was incredibly helpful and very nice. The warranty along with the other positive reviews and my experience this far made me feel very comfortable with such a major purchase. Super happy:)

Where do I start with this wonderful review?
8 years ago, my parents purchased some Custom Comfort Mattresses for a home in Orange County. I was the beneficiary of one of them and I’ve LOVED it ever since. Great back support, along with a pillow top that keeps it all comfy. Of note, the mattresses are built with stronger springs that most mattresses, in addition to cotton, not ‘sponge,’ as the base-​cloth material. It all leads to an incredible night’s sleep.
With that said, I recently started a family of my own, with my fiancée and babyboy. In renting our first apartment, we decided to furnish it with mattresses from CCM in West Hollywood. The entire experience was just like it was 8 years ago — we had our fill of an entire showroom full of mattresses, with the store manager, Gary, kindly explaining all the variances to us. Noticing that I had a new family, Gary also offered a discount that helped us tremendously. It was a kind gesture that showed off what CCM was founded upon — a good, family-​run business, that cherishes its customers.

As an interior designer, I’ve always considered the needs and budget of my clients when recommending a product. I had heard of Custom Comfort Mattress thru a radio interview with one of the brothers of the Trudel Family, and it was clear, the integrity of the business espoused higher than most businesses in my trade, so I made a note to try them when the opportunity came. Well Memorial Day weekend was that time.
I had a client who had already made up her mind on purchasing another manufacturer, but convinced her to give The Trudel Brothers a try.
Well, 30 minutes later, my client owns a Custom Comfort Mattress and is having it delivered this weekend! YES! Not only did she receive a superior product LESS than her intended purchase, but the experience of buying was the most sincere and honest exchange I’ve had the pleasure of participating.

Gary and the folks at Custom Comfort are the absolute best. Right from walking in the door to shaking Gary’s hand before you walk out it is a laid back, informative and awesome experience.
The showroom is open and inviting with a nice luxury undertone, tons of options, ideas for decorating and even bed frames to go with your new bed!
Gary took a ton of time explaining what makes CCM the best, from All-​American construction, to the hand made details and quality materials. The fact you can flip them and even tighten or loosen the coils is amazing, and helps them last a long long time.
I ended up getting a Cal King with a pillow top that Gary recommended as a good compromise between my stomach sleeping and my girlfriends side sleeping. He absolutely nailed it. It’s the best bed i’ve ever owned or slept on and the girlfriend is over the moon with the support her back and hips get.
The other great thing about this place is that you’re not going to get a sales associate who works on commission, these people are here to help you get the best sleep possible, not make a little extra off you.
Basically, if you’re in the market for a bed, don’t spend 2500 on some non-​flip serta not made in the US, go see Gary at Custom Comfort and I bet you walk out with triple the value (and probably don’t spend as much either!)

My boyfriend and I bought a mattress from Gary last month, and I’d be understating by saying it was the most sincere shopping experience I’ve had.
The whole team was friendly and extremely informative — they made sure the experience was personal, and helped us pick a bed that fit our lifestyle and our wallets! Seriously, some of the questions they asked and suggestions they gave could have only come from professionals — their expertise truly made the whole process much easier than we anticipated. And it was fun! Just walking around the showroom and seeing all the funky «custom» beds was cool.
In summary, we were impressed, and will absolutely be recommending them to anyone shopping around.
Oh, and our California King bed is AMAZING! It’s something I know we’ll have around for many years to come.

One of the only places in Los Angeles we could find a double-​sided mattress.
The single-​sided mattresses are a scam! If you can’t flip it, it will be sagging in no time, especially if it’s a pillow top. As the salesman confirmed, the industry has changed over the last decade, and the mattress companies have stopped making double-​sided mattresses because the profit margin isn’t as high, and besides, they’d rather you have to buy a new mattress every four years, not eight!
They’re designed to fail faster. But guess what? Custom Comfort doesn’t sell that nonsense. Guess what else? They’re a family business that has been manufacturing their product right here in Southern California for decades. All their parts are American made. So you can feel good about supporting the local economy by buying here.
The showroom was very nice. We were there to look at one of their lower end models. They didn’t have a display but they brought them out for us. They also busted out some fresh pillows for us.
Low pressure, no hassle. We spent less than we had planned to, and it was also less than the single-​sided piece of crap we thought we were going to have to settle for until we found custom comfort!
Go here first! Beware of the places with the cheesy tv ads. They’ll try to sell you a mattress you cannot flip in the hopes of seeing you back sooner.
