This cozy little spot tucked away behind the restaurant is pretty cool. I love the performances and free comedy shows. Bar staff is very fun and friendly. The only thing is that sometimes the room smells very strongly of meat from the deli, but it’s understandable since it’s connected to the restaurant, but being a vegetarian, it’s a tad bit repulsive sometimes. And also the music is too loud. I’ll still be coming here though!

Did you all know there was a bar inside Canter’s? If so, why didn’t you tell me? I feel like some chump fresh off the JetBlue from JFK. Next I’m gonna find out there’s a speakeasy inside Cole’s. I met up with a friend at the Kibitz Room Thursday night and didn’t realize until I looked it up on my drive over that it was literally inside the deli. I was even all tentative about parking in the Canter’s lot and made sure to ask the attendant whether I could park there for the Kibitz Room too. Because surely, if there were a cool bar inside one of the most iconic restaurants in L.A., I – a native Angeleno and Unilocal maniac who straight up wrote about Canter’s in her first novel – would have know about it.(One of my girlfriends has since told me that this is a Tinder hot spot because dudes looove introducing it to women, especially after a movie at Cinefamily.) And it’s not like the Kibitz Room is some shithole. It’s a dim little bar that looks relatively indistinct but feels very much in line with the comfortable, casual, well-worn L.A. spirit of Canter’s. It’s not hip or anything; the crowd was thin on a Thursday at 8, and the Formica tables were sticky. I guess there’s live music sometimes, but when we were there it was just radio/jukebox, played at the strangest range of volumes. Like there’s a time and place to blast Gwen Stefani in people’s ears, I’m sure, but probably not a chill bar on a slow night. The bartender was pleasant and quick. I drank two Ballast Point Sculpin IPAs, which were great.(I’ve been happy to see this IPA pop up at bars all over the city of late. I’m guessing this means they got bought?) There was a full bar, though. Maybe next time I’ll be in a stronger liquor mood, though I’m guessing this is a straight liquor/well drinks only type of bar. Anyway, I feel like I got an Angeleno power-up by drinking at the Kibitz Room, and I look forward to coming back for more easy evenings in the area. I like Canter’s more for its atmosphere than its food, so am extra happy to have this option.

This is the dive, rock and roll spectacular tentacular mega-Phoenix of all existence. Brilliant peeps, ‘tenders and bands. My advice? Stay the hell away from here, you’ll be eaten up and spit out. Leave this little gem to us!

A real gem and sincere to place to get drunk. Want to drink and don’t feel like goin to SodoSoPa, then head right the fluck over. All of the bartenders are both solid drink makers and not shitty people. Wowser also, the humane drink prices help create an honest environment plopped on the middle of pretty Fairfax. And if you want, there is a cool deli entrance that connects in and out of 24 hour quintessential Jewish Food Wonderland; Canters. Top foods. It’s got sweet tunes? Sometimes Good place for girls and guys. It seems very few A-holes(the bad kind) show up here. One time I danced with singer who opened up the show and she took me to do shrooms down the docks by the boats some twenty miles away. Good location. For dates or not dates, just cool Food delivered in the bar as well. Stand up is on occasionally good restrooms Comfy set booths Rational prices Matzo ball soup Herring

Awesome sauce as usual. Always great service, friendly staff, perfect cocktails! Now if you don’t know — GnR kinda started out here. So, that’s cool! Buy a signed copy of the book about it inside Canter’s(next door, attached) — Reckless Road, written by Marc Canter. Almost any night I’ve been here there is live music at 10? Open Mic on Sundays. You can grab food from next door and bring it in to eat. I always loved the cozy vibe of Kibitz. Oh, and the very reasonable for L.A. drink prices are another good reason to drop in. ;) Cheers!

This place is a gem in weho. A lovely little spot which has a deep history as well as a good group of people mixed in to things. A mixed group of bartenders will be sure to help you find someone who will fit your tastes. As well, the happy hour offers some really great options of food and drink. The icing on the cake is that this was Guns and Roses spot back in the heyday of their early glory. So we can’t overlook that angle as being just as much a reason to pop by as any.

awesome little dive bar right next to Canter’s. has a small stage so they have live music, but not while I was there. Drinks are strong, they have a sick old jukebox, and it’s just an all around cool place to hang out.

I like to play shows here and I like to watch live music here, and I like to party with my friends here. They renovated the stage recently and it looks great. YEA!

Nobody has a bigger boner for classic rock and heavy metal than I do. Because Los Angeles is a goldmine when it comes to rock ‘n’ roll history, I naturally want to visit all the locations associated with my favorite bands. Canters, quite famously, was a popular hang-out for the guys in Guns n’ Roses, and the adjacent bar, the Kibitz Room, was the venue that launched dozens of the bands from that era. It’s a Wednesday night, and my boyfriend and I have some time to kill before seeing a late screening of ‘Samurai Cop’,(***side note — if you haven’t seen this movie, you should. It’s pretty much the greatest movie of all time, even better than ‘The Room’ and ‘Troll 2′. Yes, that good.***), so we decide to stop by Canters for some dinner and drinks. After downing a couple turkey-on-ryes, we head to the Kibitz Room. It’s a pretty amazing, skuzzy bar, complete with a small stage, a couple of dusty leather booths, and, of course, old-school jukebox! The bartender looks like skinny Santa Claus, so I’m instantly smitten. The other patrons are appropriately diverse, and the drinks are stiff and inexpensive. I let my boyfriend argue with the guy next to him, while I get up to take a look at the music selection. After flipping through, I see they have Dirt by Alice in Chains and get more excited than a person probably should. I play a few songs, enjoy a couple more cocktails, then head out. The Kibitz Room — a quality bar.

I think a good lounge is hard to come by, but this is THE spot. Attached to Canter’s(mmm…deli) this place is easily missed unless you’re looking out for it. The drinks are solid, and it’s an intimate little bar. Rock and roll greats like Guns N’ Roses have hung out and graced the stage here. I hear it’s newly remodeled inside as well, so everything is clean and nice here. The band is quite fun as well :) Come here and have a chill time.

Haha. Completely cheesy and CHEAP happy hour! Brilliant regulars and the bar tenders are awesome too! I always have a blast here and leave without spending much money at all. They actually have a decent red blend if you dig cheap wine. Order the onion rings and a sandwich. I think a half sandwich is only $ 6.50 during HH and the thing is pretty piled with yumminess. Divey, but mellow. HH is daily. Sold.

Good bar to hang out in — usually live music at night. Not always easy to find a table but possible. If you get bored you can always wander over to the dining side of Canter’s and have a bite to eat.

Oh the Kibitz… thank you for being open… I’ve seen you during so many random times over the past 15+ years or so… Late night, closing time, lots of Tuesday nights… seen random celebrities… But yesterday was my first Happy Hour. I guess you can tell I’ve been suffering from overpriced drink sticker shock — because I was so taken aback that I could get a Tanqueray and Tonic for $ 5. I only wish they weren’t playing that god-awful infomercial about fat or something… With the sound on, and surgery and liposuction… gah! But oh — if those walls could speak, imagine the stories they could tell. I hope the Kibitz room will always be around.

So I have started coming here from the night I turned 21… The door man called me his«future» ex-wife. But all jokes aside this place is great. The drinks are strong and they have quite a few signature drinks that Eric can make that will put you on your ass. I recommend the Marilyn’s Pussy. It tastes as good as it sounds, but after one or two, you better get a taxi or DD to take you home. They are super friendly. They also have great live music from Jazz to Punk. I have seen friends band play there and its a good venue. Its also part of Canters so you can eat a great deli meal after a few too many drinks. So many good memories there!

I stumbled upon this place as Rosewood Tavern was declaring its last call… Amidst the chilly droplets of winter mist, my man and i followed the sweet tunes and pushed open an unassuming door located next to the legendary LA deli, Canter’s. A roomful of people merrily tapping their toes and fingers to the beats of the drummer. I immediately thought that this was the best place to be at 2am on a Saturday night. I stood two feet away from the band, each melody tickled my body and I swayed to its beat. Precisely at that moment, I felt alive. I wore my existence in this beautiful city with the brash notes of the guitar and drums. After reading my review, I hope that you will drop by Kitbitz Room when you’re looking for night to frolic with Los Angeles’ history. Sway to the sound and whisper into a stranger’s ear. You’ll feel alive as I did.

In all of the times I’ve eaten at Canter’s and hung out at the Dime on the same street, I’ve never noticed Kibitz Room. Silly me! While on paper this place is super divey and borderline creepy, I have to say I loved it. It embraces its diveyness with relish and plays up its eccentricities. I visited for the first time to see a band that was playing there, and I immediately loved the older, grizzly bartenders with hearts of gold, the random old photos of celebs from the 80s on the wall, and the cheap beer and cocktails. I was surprised to find that the acoustics in the place weren’t bad. While the bands play in just a random set aside part of the tiny space, the sound is pretty darn good! Way better than some fancier music venues I’ve been to in town. The crowd is mixed depending on the band, of course, but there are definitely the regulars that hang out by the bar as well as a few hipsters who seem to enjoy the novelty of patronizing this supremely divey spot. It’s definitely a fun place and though I might think twice about suggesting it to those who lean toward the squeamish side, I appreciated its grimey goodness!
