Flavor Crisp Chicken

yuk, gross, never again. I had been here 10+ years ago and didn’t return because i had chicken feathers on the leg in my order and i was grossed out. ok, so someone at work said how good this place was so i thought to give it another try. NEVER AGAIN. It was greasy/​oily, lacked flavor and it was expensive for what you go. A small bucket ($ 24) fed 1 – 2 people – the bucket included about a dozen unrecognizable and indistinguishable pieces of «chicken». The thighs and breasts were cut into 3 – 4 pieces. the jojos potato snacks for which they are «famous» were nothing more than potato wedges that seemed like they were cooked in the microwave. i really hate to put down the small business owner, but stay away from this place.

Good food. Chicken was nice and crispy. I like that they have been in business for over 50 years. They don’t deliver, but as long as you call ahead they have it ready for you when you get there. Prices are fair, I’ll definitely come back for more.

I have to agree with the other disappointed customers. VERY EXPENSIVE and not very good. I had a 4 piece white meat meal which consisted of 2 small chicken breasts cut in half to make 4 very very small pieces with leather like chicken. All these Jo-Jo’s are is steak cut fries on steroids. Nothing really special about this place at all. 4 tiny pieces of chicken with 5 steak fries a 2liter bottle of soda and a bunch of attitude cost me $ 18.00…WOW! Went to KFC the next day for 3 chicken strips (bigger and better) 1 side, a drink and a cookie all for $ 5 and it tasted great. Way too many choices to act like this… Sorry Chicken MIke… you’re out of touch with reality…

just left this place and I am in love look like a whole in the wall but the food was on point will be back and the little short Indian guy was so sweet

Their food taste good but the prices are ridiculous!!! I paid $ 21.38 for 12 chicken wings and a small order of potato Jo Jo’s!!! This would have cost no more than $ 8.00 anywhere else! After I ate it I was still hungry! I will never eat here again because I just can’t afford to spend over $ 21.00 for lunch and still be hungry afterwards. I’m very disappointed with this place!

You’ll never want «fast food chicken» again. Good quality chicken every time and the jojos are great! The fried flounder is always good. Orders always done when they say it will be. Like no other chicken place a favorite in my family for years.

One word to describe this place, «Meh.» Place looks clean and staff was average but the food is not worth the price.
We ordered (and paid for) a small order of medium Buffalo wings, a medium order of chicken strips and a side order of fries. We received the small order of wings, a small order of chicken strips and a side order of fries.
This place was not busy at all. The guys behind the counter seemed very slow and nothing else was cooking when I arrived to pick up my order (this was during prime dinner time) so there really is no excuse for screwing up my order.
Fries were just okay, not worth the $ 4.99 they charge for them, same with everything else. My small order of wings (total of 8) also had some sort of weird sauce on them. They are not Buffalo wings if you order them medium and they have some sort of red/​orange Chinese food type of sauce on them. They were spicy to the medium style though. I am sorry, but I am picky about my wings, I am from Buffalo and these are NOT Buffalo wings. I think if you call them that they should be pretty close to that — otherwise, they are just wings. We could have went to Checkers drive-​thru and paid less, got more and been happier.
I will not be returning. I was expecting more based on the reviews, but I can see why there haven’t been any I over a year.

He is good. one of a kind Jo Jo’s but his prices are sky high which turns me off.

The best fried chicken to be found anywhere. A West Islip secret for many years, nobody that has been to this place ever goes back to «chain store» chicken. Great Jo Jo’s (potatoes), vegetables, some fish, but the chicken is the star here. Anyone coming back home to West Islip after being away for awhile requests Flavor Crisp Chicken and West Islip Bagels from the store next to it (also not a chain). This is a tiny store on Higbie Lane not in a large strip mall. Do not confuse it with the stores on Union Blvd. Take out only and good idea to call ahead and they will give you coupons for your next visit.
