Recently Purchased a bike from a different Long Island shop. They were friendly and answered all my questions. They eventually talked me into a bike that was way above my price range but told me I would receive free service and tuneup for the first year. Needles to say after waiting for 5 weeks(which was supposed to be 8 – 10 days) My bike came in! Unfortunately it was a bit banged up in shipping and had a few scratches and scuffs. The owner of the shops reply was.“it will still ride the same with or without a scratch”. Really wanting to ride I took the bike home and headed out for a ride. It didn’t take more than 15 minutes for some weird noises to appear and things to start clanking and grinding. I quickly called the shop I purchased the bike from and let them know what was going on. The guy on the phone remembered the sale and was not real happy about me calling to let them know about the problem. When I recited the free service for a year and tune up bit he sold me with he finally told me to bring the bike in. After having them look at the bike they told me a few things had broken and I would be needing some parts and that id have pay out of pocket. «After only riding around my neighborhood streets for a few minutes things have broken already???» Figured I’d better have someone else take a look at it. On the recommendation of a neighbor I brought it over to the vicious cycle… Stopped into the shop with my bike. Had a lovely chat with the owner Mike. Very knowledgeable and friendly gentleman. I proceeded to tell him the whole story about the bike and its issues after just 15 minutes. He took the bike for spin around his shop and than hung it in a stand. He made a few adjustments and tightened some things up. Adjusted the front brake that wasn’t even working(I had no idea about that one). And than took it for one more spin around the shop. All Good! He even had me sit on the bike for a custom fit to adjust the seat and handle bars. WOW! The shop I purchased the bike from did none of that! Pretty thankful I found this shop. Everyone in there is very nice and always treats you well. I have been back a few different times and recommend this bike shop anytime someone asks. If your looking for an honest reliable bicycle shop this is it!!! You should feel nothing but comfort dealing with Mike and the Vicious cycle.

Spoke with Mike about getting a good bike for city riding. He answered a ton of questions knowledgeably and patiently – even showed me how to change the tire. He was able to customize the bike to my likes and needs. Would recommend to anyone looking for a bike.

Based on good reviews for this shop I came to The Vicious Cycle to check out a bike with my friend who purchased a KHS mountain bike from them and the transaction was good bike was excellent. Very knowledgable and friendly. Spent $ 500 bucks. I then returned to purchase a bike they didn’t have in stock. It was a special order BMX bike another $ 500+. Now this shop is a KHS dealer which owns Free Agent which is the brand of bike I ordered. When I came in to pickup the bike it was severely damaged and they tried to deliver to me like that. The white handle bars had two big chips and the white seat was stained. I objected and pointed this out because I paid good money I wanted it in good shape. They at first didn’t want to rectify until I pushed the situation. It even went as far them attempting to explain the seat because it was white is hard not to be stained and they tried to paint the handle bar chips without my knowledge or letting me know. You’d think when they called they would have said hey the bike came in and it’s got some chips in it come down and see what you want to do? No luck there. After some«discussions» reluctantly they suggested they could put a warranty claim for the seat and handle bars. I said ok and it would be a week I agreed then took the bike home. I then took it out for a ride that very day even after the poor delivery. I got a block away from my home and the entire rear hub fell apart and all the bearings fell out. I carried the bike home and I called the shop and brought the bike back. The owner wasn’t thrilled to see me I’m sure. I explained that the hub fell apart while I was riding and they said after everything I’ll order you another bike. Great I thought… A total of 3 weeks went by from purchase and repair until they finally called and stated the bike was ready. I come to find out they only ordered the damaged parts not another bike which is what was told to me. I wasn’t kept in the loop there was little to no communication and I was the one that had to keep calling to check on the situation. I figured ok fine they replaced the damaged parts which had to shipped from the manufacture no fault of the bike shop. Now you would think a newly purchased bike that fell apart they would get those parts there more quickly… no sadly. In any case finally I get the call bike is ready. I go and pickup the Bike. Owner doesn’t go over the bike with me to ensure we are good but looks ok on the surface. Seat looks good handle bars look ok… Or are they?! I bring it out to my truck in the brighter light only to see the handle bars are still chipped on the opposite side now and the rubber handle bar grip has a long gash in it like it was cut. After waiting so long and dealing with the issues I just took the bike home. I think I’ll find another shop and email the KHS dealer with my frustrations. The service/prep work or attention to detail just isn’t there nor is the customer service or communication. You’d think spending upwards of $ 1000 in a short time the shop would want to make sure your happy and the bike is in perfect shape but that didn’t happen. If your buying a bike they have in the showroom maybe it’s a different story but they definitely didn’t handle my situation in a satisfactory manner. On a positive note Mike the owner was very knowledgable and his shop was in a nice part of town. Just Wish the purchase had gone better.

Love the clever name. Had my tires and tubes replaced by Mike and was totally psyched with the service. He went above and beyond what needed to be done. Super nice and friendly and helped to adjust my bike for a better ride. Would definitely recommend this spot.

Stoped in for a gift, and bought a nice vintage USA Olympics jersey and cap. Mike was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about his craft, and I’m looking forward to purchasing my first road bike from here. They have a wide selection of bikes and on site repairs which is nice.

My 6yr old and I were outfitted with two bikes and a rack perfectly suited to our needs, including rack assembly & installment given as a package with extras thrown in all for a very reasonable price. Very family friendly, run by a lovely couple with a young helper.

Sally’s Cycle is under new management and let me say. wow! The things even a name change can do. Babylon has been in need of a hip, welcoming, affordable bicycle shop and now The Vicious Cycle is it! The new owner, Mike, is very knowledgeable and kind. He can handle any repair you throw at him and he isn’t going to sell you anything you don’t need. This upcoming Spring/Summer season, The Vicious Cycle should be the only bike shop on your radar.

This is a great neighborhood bike shop with a wide selection. They are extremely knowledgeable, honest and actually saved me from spending money I didn’t need to. You will not get ripped off here.
