My first ever visit to the ocean on the east coast! Cute TINY little beach right behind Good Samaritan hospital. The park has been named«Madeline’s Playground,» after a little girl who lost her life at Sandy Hook. There is a pink and purple playground, Maddie’s favorite colors. The sand does have a lot of little rocks and seashells in it. There is a lot of algae washed up on shore. There is a small roped-off swimming area, but I didn’t feel like braving the algae to go in! There are a few wooden chairs and picnic tables to sit at both in a covered area and out in the sunshine. No concessions, but sometimes an ice cream truck parks nearby. There are lifeguards but I do not know what their hours are. Definitely a cute little place to read a book or take the kids on a nice afternoon! Parking is $ 5

Cute little beach in west Islip near Good Samaritan hospital :) Good for families: There is a roped off area for swimming(with life guards), a play ground and rest rooms! Only downside is there is no concession stand so bring a picnic basket full of goodies!
