Big O Tires

Finally found a good honest mechanic/​car shop close to my house that I trust. Will be having all my work done here from now on.

In LA, there’s been more than a few con men lounging about. Dentists, Auto shoppes, you name it. But I get a good vibe for this place. My fiancée originally recommended this place to me– which seemed strange since it is a chain. But I assume it’s privately operated though — because the customer service has always been great. They are honest, friendly and trusting, which in turn gives me faith — and I trust them. Just had a nail in my tire, and brought it in for them to fix. Took under 30 minutes and ofcourse it was gratis. Definitely check out these guys.

Roz, Amir and Saul are top notch! I am driving my 4^th straight car that they care for. They have NEVER up sold me in almost 20 year. Extremely ethical and attentive. I like having a trusted shop for everyday needs, for my car, it’s Big O on Gateway.

These guys saved me lots and money and were very friendly. I needed a very specific tire they had in stock and immediately installed/​balanced the wheel for a great price while I waited. Thanks again!

Do not go here. Two things. 1. I called for a price on tires for our car and was quoted. Then, I checked the price on this website finding my quoted price to be $ 160 more than the advertised price. 2. When I arrived to get the tires, there were none available. Saul had promised me and other people the same tires. So, this was first come first serve. Why was this first come first serve when I scheduled the installation?
We will not be coming back to this store for any service needs.

These folks are great. I went in for an oil change, then found out they do everything else, too. Also gave me a better price on tires than I could find anywhere else, and I’m a pretty thorough Web researcher. Friendly, fast, reliable, competent. What’s not to like? They even have a remarkably clean bathroom. When’s the last time you encountered one of those in a repair shop?

This place is so honest and amazing. I got lost trying to find them to help add air to a flat tire and the owner stayed on the phone with me to walk me through turn by turn how to get there– and after all of that trouble, the service I was needing didn’t cost any money. Yet they were still incredibly thorough and kind– which gives me such confidence in going there when I really need help. Five stars for sure!

The best tire place that I’ve been to before. They are very accommodating to their customers. Saul (front desk) is always welcoming and pleasant to talk to. He makes sure to always take care of you. He’s a huge asset to the company! You can tell from the other reviews that he connects with pretty much everyone and that makes people regular customers. My husband also only lets Dennis work on his car, a Miata. He trusts his expertise and genuine interests in cars and performance. The alignment warranty is totally worth it for these LA streets. I also get helium air for my tires which is the best choice I’ve made. Thanks for everything Big O Tires! Keep up the excellent work!

First experience here. My normal guys down the street recommended this Big O Tire location for replacing my tire. My guys are super honest so I knew they’d refer me to a similar place.
You walk in and you immediately get the feeling that they’re different than other auto places. Everyone is super friendly and so on top of things. I came and someone drove my car right in. I told them I had a tire delivered here and needed to have it put on. I went inside to tell them about the tire shipped to them (a discontinued one). The guy went to look for the tire, but couldn’t find it. We soon discovered that the first guy who drove my car in had already figured out which tire was mine and had taken the wrecked one out of the trunk and was already getting started. Whoa, excellent service and so efficient!
I was in and out within 15 to 20 minutes. Thanks guys! You rock!
PS They do more than just tires. Am I the only one who didn’t know?

Warning. There is a common tool called the tire tread depth gauge. It’s a simple tool used to see how much tread is left. Guess what, they are using it incorrectly.
You use the tool in the groove to measure depth. 2 of the guys including the owner used it on top the wear bar! The wear bar itself tells us that there is ²⁄₃₂ inch left.
I was confused because when I measured my tire depth at home I had ⁴⁄₃₂ (Use a quarter for ⁴⁄₃₂ and penny is ³⁄₃₂). When I was at the store and 2 separate techs said specifically asked the owner are you sure you use the gauge on top of the wear bar? He said of course you do, that’s how I always do it.
Well google how to use a wear bar — no one else does that. Essentially he is getting everyone to replace their tires earlier than necessary. Is that the end of the world? Well maybe not but they aren’t doing favors.

This Big O Tires is the only place I bring my cars. The staff is very honest and straight forward. They always try to diagnose your exact problem and never try to sell you repairs you don’t need. I’ve even had the technicians give me advice about replacing normal wear parts at the time they’re due to be replaced and tell me whether they actually need replacing at this time or if there is still life left.
Don’t go anywhere else!
These guys build their business on referrals so they really care about their customers and most importantly our pocket books.

These guys are Great… I had an excellent experience at big o tires of west la. My car was driving really shaky and my check engine light was on. I dropped off my car in the morning so they could check it out. After a few hours i got a call from Saul, he gave me an estimate over the phone. I am not very knowledgeable when with comes to cars. But he did a great job explaining to me what was wrong with my car and what needed to be done. Got my car back and it drives like new. Thanks alot Big O.

Today, the rep who answered the phone really impressed me. I have a repair that requires bodywork beyond that they do. Not only did they provide me with a few local recommendations, they walked me through the questions I should ask and how to evaluate whether or not to run it through my insurance.
While I am a regular customer, they didn’t know that when providing this expertise. Great stuff. Thanks guys!

I have never been to a Big O Tires before, but when I called and got a quote over the phone, the person was very kind and answered all my questions, I told him I had very little time and was told to bring it the car and they would do their best.
I was helped by Saul, who is fantastic at customer service, he got my car in to get the tires replaced and while he did not promise I would be out in an hr, he did his best. The tires and new rims were done in 50 minutes! Talk about great service!
When you are spending hundreds of dollars that you don’t have, it is good to know you can still get excellent service and the product you need. Everyone was friendly and the waiting room was immaculate. Thanks to all those who helped me.

Right off the freeway, this place is super convenient and so fast.
I walked in after my tire shredded and my boy, Roz, hooked me up with a new tire for $ 50 less than I paid at the old place, and I was out of there in about 15 minutes.
They’ve also patched a tire for me and it was great.

I came here because my honda element needed new struts. They installed them. 3 months later I moved out of LA and come to find that they never bolted the top my front right strut!!! Lucky for me I found the bolt at sitting in a bowl type area next to the engine and was held down my the good.
At the same time I came to find that they used cheap (not honda parts) struts that started to squeak! I wanted original quality parts!
I have never seen such amature work.
How do you forget to put back the most important bolt!

I have been using Big O Tires services since the late 90s when I learned to drive. As I’ve moved around the U.S. I have ALWAYS been able to find a Big O that is super helpful. I tend to use the East Pasadena, Glendora, and Glendale locations. Lately, I have been visiting this location on Gateway more and more.
I recently had a upper radiator hose split and anti-​freeze was going everywhere under the hood. I called the Gateway location b/​c I know in the past few years, they have all started doing more and more services (they fixed my struts about 3 yrs ago). Called them, explained the issue, they said they do everything except like body work. I was SO relieved! Relieved b/​c I don’t have a shop or anyone else I go to who repairs my car. It was such a weight off my shoulder that I didn’t have to research some new place. THANK YOU BIG O!
I took it in the next morning, turned out a lower hose and a few other problems existed. They fixed the problems– gave me a good price and I was out of there. All the guys are always so nice and explain everything they are doing. I am pretty sure this location is going to become my primary location from now on.

Big O is the best. I bought a 30 year old Jeep Woody, not knowing what was wrong. They took the time to explain all of the (many) problems with the Jeep, and told me how much it would be to fix, and that it wasn’t really worth it. A lot of other shops would have just taken my money, but Big O was honest and saved me from throwing money (a lot) into a sinking ship!
So I purchased a 2^nd classic Jeep Wagoneer. Second time was a charm. It had minor problems, like the AC wasn’t working; and they were able to fix it quickly and for a fair price. Meanwhile, they checked out the rest of the Jeep (I asked for a once over,) for free. My dog and I were happily on our way to the beach in no time!
