Gave this place another shot. Logistics: — Items ordered: Matcha milk tea w/pudding(large, no ice, ½ sweet) — Total price: $ 4.82($ 4.00+$ 0.50, plus 7% tax) — Timing: About three minutes from order to finish Three tables were occupied but no customers were in line when I got there. I should note that there are front and back entrances, making it easier for customers to come inside. There was one employee in the front, waiting to take any potential orders. She served as the cashier and maker of my drink when I ordered. Having thought my previous drink from Hi Tea was too sweet, I opted for half sweetness, which seems to do the trick. As previously mentioned, the drinks are powder based and unfortunately, just a little bit of my drink was left under-mixed so there was some powder residue when drinking it. The pudding’s flavor was overshadowed by the stronger matcha, which is to be expected, but the texture was good for the most part. I think Hi Tea provides a few more options for types of drinks than Latea does so I’ll likely be balancing my bubble tea runs between the two places, depending on what I’m craving. That being said, I would still rate Latea above Hi Tea overall, for now.

The bubble tea here is okay. They’re generally really sweet though so 50% sweetness level is sweet enough. There’s nothing really special about the milk tea but it’s not awful. I don’t like the yogurt teas because they are really watered down. Overall, Latea has higher quality drinks. Food is okay too. Not the best but again not the worst thing you’ll ever eat. The best thing to get here is the Hong Kong style sweets. Specifically, the watermelon grass jelly and Snow White sago are my favorite. The only time I was disappointed with a dessert is their black sesame soup with black rice. The soup was really watery, which was incredibly disappointing. The black rice cost an extra $ 1 compared to the regular black sesame soup, but it was not worth it at all. It came with a really small amount, about two spoonfuls. In addition, the rice was cold. It didn’t mix well with the lukewarm soup. Definitely never ordering this again. I could give three stars but the service here is pretty lacking. I always encounter rude workers and there have been many times they forgot about my order and didn’t even bother to apologize. Minus one star for shitty service.

A few weeks ago I was craving a nice noodle dish, and saw on other reviews that the Beef Noodle soup was excellent. So I gave it a try, as well as an order of Takoyaki. The Beef Noodle was good, but I didn’t enjoy it as much as other reviewers seem to have. The Takoyaki are actually really great, although they can be a bit on the mushy side.(UPDATE: When the Takoyaki first come out, they are not mushy. It only happens if you get takeout.) The next time I came, I tried the ramen… it is fantastic! I’m a big fan of traditional ramen, and this really hits the spot. I don’t believe the noodles are homemade, but they are still very good. The pork is tender, the broth is flavorful, and all the extras(marinated egg, bok choy, etc.) are great. My only complaint is the portion: it fills up a large to-go soup container, but for the price(almost $ 11), I expect a bit more. I’ve also had their Taro milk bubble tea, and it is very nice. The sweetness is at a good level for me, but they’ll adjust it if you ask. The boba texture is spot-on as well. The service has always been fast and friendly, and the décor is pleasant. I will continue to come back here for my ramen and bubble tea fix, and perhaps try some of their desserts. TIP: Pay with cash to get 10% off

Bubble tea tasted great, bubbles and pudding are both legit add ins. Food portions are rather small for the price, but I hear their beef noodle soup is good.

I come here almost everyday to enjoy a cup of rose milk tea! The cashiers are always cheerful and helpful. My favorite food item is their beef noodle soup and mango sago.

If I can, I would not give any stars to this experience! I asked for a dessert tonight in the restaurant, but actually it took me more than half an hour to wait, and even some of customers came later than me got their meal. I asked the landlady for a reason, she felt really unpleasant to answer me and then refunded to me with the words:“Wish you never go back here”. I think everyone would feel angry about it, but I held me anger cause I came with my friend. I have to say this restaurant is really terrible, not for the food, but for the attitude. And I wish everyone will not go there to get the same treatment.

Bad customer service. I ordered a beef noodle to go, and they gave me the wrong one. I called back to ask for anything they could do, but the woman in the phone yelled at me and handed up the phone. It’s really bad and I feel sorry for them. Won’t go this place anymore.

This place is SO adorable! We actually have a place on University of Michigan campus that strives to be the adorable and delicious bubble tea shop that is Hi Tea. Having lived in NYC for a while, I miss my Kung Fu Tea, so when I find a place that’s comparable(if not better!), I get very excited. The store is decently sized, but the seating area only holds maybe 25 people, so there’s a lot of underutilized space — at least it doesn’t feel crowded! They have a good selection of different drinks from milk teas to tea to WOW milk, etc. Their mango green tea(half sugar) was the savior to my tormenting thirst in a hot summer day. I also tried their minced pork over rice bowl 卤肉饭 which was simple and flavorful! The portion was great for lunch. Definitely want to come back and try their noodle bowls.

Bubble tea is decent. Desserts are authentic and taste good. The boss is also really nice and I’ve heard good things about the service here. I only gave 3 stars because it’s overpriced. I guess it’s the Midwest so hongkong desserts joints are scarce but. $ 15 for two ½ full bowls of dessert …

This is my new favorite place to have tea and work on campus. The bubble milk tea is better than LaTea(there’s is too sweet for me) and slightly less expensive, and the place is much closer to campus. The décor is simple but lovely and uplifting. The crepes are my favorite dessert — only $ 3.25 too, cheaper than a typical drink. I haven’t tried too much on the menu, so I can’t speak to other reviews, but my experience has been excellent! I see two problems. The wait is generally pretty long even when you are the only one ordering. I think they could at least provide an estimate and figure out ways to get their wait time down particularly when it gets busy. Currently, the 5 times I’ve been in in the last few weeks, it’s not busy. It’s new and not advertised much so that is to be expected. However, once they do become more popular I see real problems with space as well as wait time. The place they are in is relatively small and could get crowded quite easily. So, they will need to consider these things. But for now, I give a satisfied 5 stars.

Other reviews are too critical but I see them as good place and serves good foods. More upsides than downs for me since environment is nice and feels more comfy, service wise personally I always been taken good care here so no problem. Only down is the minimum $ 5 card but sometimes they waive it. Good proximity, environment, taste so yeah this place is recommended!

I was really pleased to find out that we finally got a milk tea place near campus so I went there with two friends this week. We ordered two regular milk tea and one pudding milk tea, and were all very happy with our choices. I was however disappointed that they did not have any traditional Taiwanese appetizers(popcorn chicken in particular) on the menu. Also, the interior was nice and the staffs were friendly, but the shop was somehow really warm(uncomfortably so). Will definitely give it another try.

This is crap. Everything was so watery! The people were so mean! The chairs and tables were the best thing about the whole place and that is saying something. I wouldn’t go back again. I can’t believe I wasted my money on that crap. Just don’t go.

Their milk tea is okay but definitely too weak in flavor comparing to Latea. The 撞奶 has lots of ingredient but it tastes like milk with red beans rather than milk curd. Their desserts are good but the milk tea is really disappointing. Service is too slow. Hope it can improve later…
