This place is a hidden gem. It is the only restaurant(I am not counting Chuck E Cheese’s) in the shopping center that houses a Home Depot and a Pet Smart. My wife and I stopped by the first time after doing some shopping at the Home Depot. We had recently moved to the area, and were unfamiliar with the local pizza. Upon walking in we found perhaps over 20 types of pies displayed and they were very creatively made. Feeling a bit puffy from our travels we ordered a couple of salads and they were very reasonably priced, freshly made, and delicious. What surprised my wife was that the salad was fresh and not out of a package which is usually treated with a chemical to preserve the salad. She despises the smell of packaged salad and refuses to eat it. Considering the price point of the meal, we were surprised by the quality and freshness of the meal and decided to head back another time. Well, another time was last evening. We had to stop by Home Depot on the way to a movie(Dallas Buyers Club). We stopped in for a meal and decided to sit in the back of the restaurant. The front of the restaurant is a typical quick turnover pizza joint. The back has a white table cloth setting and is very private. As usual the owner was there to serve us and we ordered a small antipasto salad which was huge, and two servings of Ricotta Eggplant Rolls on top of ziti for one of the meals and I asked for any vegetable that they may have in the kitchen. Café Villa does not serve beer or wine so make sure you bring something that works well with Italian. I would have loved a bottle of Murphy-Goode Liar’s Dice Zinfandel, or a bottle of 7 Deadly Zins. First to arrive was tap water and it tasted chemical free. Could the owner care enough about his customers to provide filter water? Next, to arrive was a loaf(big loaf) of hot freshly made bread with a spiced olive oil dip. Wow, the combination of the bread and the dip was fantastic. I am trying to cut bread out of my diet, but this stuff was addictive. Next the antipasto arrived and it was too much for the two of us. Finally the Ricotta Eggplant Rolls arrived and they were excellent, but too much food. As I mentioned earlier, I asked the proprietor to give me something other than ziti to go along with the Ricotta Eggplant Rolls. He made me a dish of vegetables that were out of this world and did not charge me for it. We ended up taking 2⁄3 of the meal home and thanked the proprietor profusely. With an over 20% tip I did not even hit $ 30 and I was very impressed by the meal and service. This place is not super fine Italian dining, but it is extremely good and a wonderful value. For that reason I give it 5 stars. Next time, we are going to eat our way through some pizza and I am going to take my self proclaimed pizza expert son with me!
