Impressed with the layout inside. Very lovely place. Its my husband’s new favorite haha. It’s a hospitable spot to get together with either a group or just one person.

Best British faire for many miles around. Superb service accompanied by an awesome rotating draft list. They always have a different tasty special going on for each day of the week that changes often. If you haven’t checked it out yet and your local, your doing yourself a great disservice.

A really cute tavern with good(although expensive) pub food. I had the English onion soup which was pretty delicious and the deviled eggs(you get 1 egg split in half). Even though its a pub, it had a great vibe for all ages, there were plenty of people, including our group that had a child in the party.

This place was great — the only reason for not giving it 5 stars is no reservations, long wait times to get in, and when they’re packed a little wait time on food. The FOOD however. Divine. The atmosphere was absolutely awesome if you’re into a comfortable joint you can hang out at, have a beer or three(excellent selection) and some food to nosh on. The service was excellent as well. Our waitress was very attentive and checked in with us often. Overall it was a pleasant experience and I would absolutely go back. If I lived in the area I could see this being a regular place to frequent.

Wonderful evening! Bangers and mash, Welsh rarebit, local salad and extensive beer selection. Others had beef on weck, and fish and chips, scotch egg was delicious! Only drawback– parking.

Love this place. Shepherds Pie, Bangers and Mash, Pudding, everything… it’s my favorite spot for brunch. «Out of the way» would be an understatement but the drive is beautiful and the ambiance once you get there is fantastic. But truth be told, I can’t handle the fried toast. I tried, I can’t. I just ask for it to be toasted in the plain old toaster. Old Speckled Hen on tap is a huge plus as it’s one of my favs.

What a gem! Authentic British Pub in Chester County horse country. The menu is outstanding, the wait staff knowledgeable and engaging. I had the fish and chips and I can say as someone who has enjoyed them while visiting London, this dish is the real deal. Other outstanding menu items include bangers and mash, Shepards pie and roast beef with Yorkshire pudding. Extensive craft beer selection. Beer only but you can BYOB. Situated in horse country this is a place where an anglophile will feel right at home.

This place has such amazing food and such a great cozy vibe. This is an English pub with a great English beer selection and delicious pub fare. The beef on weck is my favorite roast beef sandwich I have ever had. They give you fresh horseradish and it makes all the difference. I get it everytime I go! The welsh rarebit is also amazing. It’s hot beer cheese that you get to eat with bread. What could be better? When you go, you have to try the sticky toffee pudding. It is so good and unlike any other dessert out there. It is definitely enough to share. Unless you are my mom. It is her favorite thing and she specifically saves room and eats light just so she can eat this dessert! The one thing that you do have to be aware of is that the parking is scarce. You may need to double park.

The whip is a bit of an eccentric spot in the middle of nowhere. The misses and I took a trip here on a friendly recommendation. We got there and the place was packed on a Thursday night. When we finally got seated I was a little surprised by the beer menu. A very nice selection but a bit pricey. The rest of the menu followed suit price wise. I ordered the curry and I was warned it was spicy. As a guy who doesn’t consider things spicy very often this was by far the spiciest dishes I’ve ever been served… And I loved every minute of it. I made sure to let the waitress know to compliment the chef. It was truly phenomenal. Everything we ordered was superb and made up for the price. Although we can’t afford to always come here it will definitely be on the list to visit again!

Finally. Everything is good and right here. Enjoyed the seafood curry, shepherds pie, aspargus soup. All carefully seasoned, fresh herbs evident throughout, and just enough salt. We knew we. were in for a treat when there was a traffic jam to enter at 7pm on a Monday, in what appears to be a pastoral country side. Bill was less than 75 for soup, two higher price entrees, premium drinks and dessert. We live in south jersey, and will find reason to return. Maybe we will need milk, and only the store nearest the whip will do. Whatever, we will rationalize it.

Very nice restaurant in the muddled of nowhere. Outside seating, river, cricket and rugby on the screens… This place must be run by the British! The waitresses are super nice and top notch service. The only bummer is our lunch took over ½hr(mainly burgers) so we had to eat and run! Would eat there again…

The Whip is a British-style pub in horse country and their décor reflects that. It’s a popular spot with limited parking. There is parking around the back if you don’t see any in the front. They have indoor and outdoor seating. When the weather is nice, outdoor is nice with a stream running below the area. When it is really crowded, you go up to the bar to give your name and you will be seated when it is your turn. In the winter, if you are lucky, you can sit by the fire while you wait. The service is very good. The onion soup had a lot of onions and cheese rather than be full of bread and was tasty. i like the shephard’s pie that comes with mashed potatoes on top and is very tasty. They have a wide selection of beers as well as offering wine and other drinks. I like the atmosphere as well as the food.

As a local… The Whip was fundamentally a great concept. The menu is decent and of course the setting can’t be beat. The servers are friendly and guests are offered indoor, or outdoor seating seasonally. Good food, good beer. It is a combination that really put this little patch of Chester County on the map as a destination to those near and far. The drive out to the Whip allows guests to enjoy the beautiful countryside. With that being said the crowds have become more and more outrageous over the years… And they are perhaps this facility’s most outward flaw in my opinion — the Whip having grown too big for their own good. Bits of 841 have a tendency of becoming a one lane road due to guests parking halfway into the grass and halfway into the road, comically in places often marked with blatant ‘no parking’ signs. After parking guests walk down the middle of the road and are confused when a car tries to scoot them off to the side. Do people not see a full parking lot anymore and consider going elsewhere? Can patrons of the Whip not read? And does the management not understand supply and demand? The Whip’s notoriety and huge following should certainly constitute an increase of prices to curb the hectic parking situation and human Tetris that follows.

The service is always wonderful here. The staff is knowledgable about the menu and cares about the experience the guests have. The food is always excellent and the menu changes just enough to make you want to try new things, even though I tend to stick to my favorites. The sticky toffee pudding is a must. Brunch here is divine.

This is a cool stop in horse country! Located in what feels like the middle of a horse pasture you could easily miss it. There is not much parking and this place is usually always busy especially on the weekends. Great place to go for cider. They have a nice mix of draft and bottled beers. Since it is an English pub lots of import drafts and bottles. This past visit I went with the cider on tap For Fox Sake and love that you can get a 10 oz or 20 oz pour-the 10 oz is perfect for sampling a few. My next drink I ordered the Shandy which they make by mixing a pale ale(went with the Smithwicks) and lemonade-very refreshing. The salty/spicy/sweet peanuts they serve at the bar leave you wanting drink after drink. The food is just so so. I went with their quiche of the day with a small salad. Love the cozy feel to this place and a great place to meet friends for drinks.

I Always love the Whip And tonight was no exception! Alan greeted us and Jessica(JJ) was our server. She only had to mention oysters and I ordered. They were so fresh and cold. Yummy! I had a wonderful salad to go with them my husband had toad in the hole which came with a tasty onion sauce. The mini iron fry pan never cooled off! the fries were also hot and delicious. Great service, exceptional food and all in a lovely warm pub. What more could you ask for?

This was our first visit to The Whip, which is about an hour drive from home, and we are NOT disappointed, to say the least. The tavern itself is charming — small, intimate, warm, cozy. The bar is pretty much a part of he dining room and presents a comfortable place to have a few pints with friends, yet the dining area still somehow feels appropriately separate from the bar. The menu is not huge, but you can tell by reading over it that every dish has been carefully thought out and crafted by the chef. I have spent many years as a server/bartender, and I am a self-proclaimed service snob. Serving isn’t rocket science, but it IS an art that most people cannot seem to perfect. Bryan, our server, has not only succeeded in perfecting it, but has also raised my bar for good service even higher. He is friendly, funny, knowledgeable of the menu, prompt, accommodating, and attentive. Bryan is a master of his craft and could excel at any location… but the fact that he is here makes The Whip all the more charming. They serve beer and cider only, but you may bring wine or spirits for a minimal corking fee per bottle. For an appetizer, we had the scotch egg & mussels. Both were delicious. The mussels were huge and tender and the broth was perfect. The bread and butter they serve are divine… warm, fresh, and delectable. Dinner was the classic fish & chips and the Guinness lamb stew. The fish filets were large and perfectly battered. And the stew… probably the best I’ve had. We were too stuffed to have dessert, but I’m sure it would have been delicious as well. Everything about our experience here has been exceptional, and we would happily drive the hour to dine here again.

I’ve eaten here at least a dozen times over the past few years. Food is amazing, always freshly prepared and well seasoned. They are an English pub so expect traditional english fare. It’s a small local place that has gained attention from well beyond this immediate area. I took off one star for the parking challenges and lack of a host stand when you arrive. I normally go on non-busy nights but I’ve gone on busy nights and have had issues with parking and long unpredictable waits

Random find in a random area. It is literally out in the middle of nowhere, you will doubt your gps.,(½ a mile, you lie! Nothing is out here!) However wow what a find. First off, you will probably have to wait. Depending on when you go, the wait may be long. Very long. As in a hour and a half. Call ahead to find out before you go because once you are out there, the next closest decent restaurant is at least 7−10miles away. But once you do get seated, you won’t be sad you waited. Irish, British, not quite sure how to classify but it’s good. Very good. Rarebit, so good. Hard to stop eating it. Mushroom soup. So good. Not too creamy and packed with shrooms. Hub loved the 500million beer options. I’m not beer fan, wish they served cocktails but it’s BYO for wine if that’s your thing. Oh and dessert. Get their famous toffee pudding. You will not be disappointed. Now if only when we called(5pm on a Friday, come on!) to ask the wait it would maybe be under an hour. Will return again someday.
