Motel 6

TV does not work anywhere at this Motel 6. The sound is dead, actually has a permanent buzz. Yet when you check in they tell you the cable guy is coming to fix it and ^may* show up soon. They guy never shows up and you have no TV all night and all morning. Not good service at all.

We stayed here after not being able to stay down the road because of an unposted «no dogs over 20 lbs» rule. Motel 6 is one of our «goto’s» because of their pet policy. Yes, this motel is on the West Memphis, AR side of Memphis and the whole area does look sketchy. But this Motel 6 seems to be undergoing renovation and cleaning up the rooms and infrastructure. Our room was clean and we did not have any problems. They still have carpet in the room. I’ve noticed that other Mo 6s have started putting down laminate floors.
My main complaint was the noise on the highway side of the motel. If we stay in the area again, I would ask for a room on the back side.

This Motel 6 was the cheapest place in the area, so I wasn’t expecting anything luxurious. With that said, I wouldn’t come here again.
The first clerk was very short and almost forgot to tell me where my room was. When I got in, the carpet was soiled and one of the light switches didn’t work. It was an «accessible,» room, so that meant the bathroom was very odd. Tiny sink, an odd shower configuration and a chipped toilet. The room faced the main road and you could hear a pin drop outside. I was so tired that I just passed out anyway, even though the bed was also very stiff.
This is not a place to bring kids…
You get what you pay for! Since the clerk in the morning was much better, at least a poor stay ended on a somewhat better note.

This was a terrible experience. We asked for a non-​smoking room, but the room we were given smelled strongly of smoke. The second room we were given also smelled of smoke, but it was tolerable so we went with it. The carpet was stained and sticky, and the pillows and sheets were thin and stained so I grabbed my own pillows from the car. I do not recommend this motel.

Gets a 1 because u can’t hook up your idevices with motel6 internet. Last time I stay at one because of it.

So, I’ve stayed at other Motel 6 locations, and know better than to expect the lap of luxury. My star rating is based on other Motel 6 and cheap hotels I have experienced, rather than hotels in general.
We asked for a non-​smoking room, and the first room we got reeked of cigarette smoke. We moved rooms, and the second one seemed ok. It’s very small and basic, but that’s fine. Then we turned on the vent in the bathroom and wafts of marajuana smoke came out. Not sure if it was from the previous people, or another room, but the next day our clothes still smelled. And we noticed an ashtray in our non-​smoking room. And there is no clock. At this point we were too tired to deal with it and just stayed.
The location is not the best, and there are some shady people lurking around. I guess the only thing not making it a one star review is that the people at the desk were really friendly and helpful.

This place is less than 10 minutes from downtown Memphis and off the highway in the worst part of town. It is was super loud and windy here, and definitely did not give off a safe vibe or look.
Unilocal reviews for other hotels nearby including the Econo Lodge which is next door to this place state they have found syringes in their rooms, and that there are always drunks and drug dealers hanging around. Well, this side of town definitely does give off that vibe.
We were tired of driving all day and decided we would save some cash by staying here instead of downtown Memphis or near Graceland, which is where were heading the morning after. They charged us about $ 35 and were pet-​friendly, and gave us a room on the 3^rd floor.
The room was supposedly a nonsmoking room, but certainly did not smell like it. This room smelled like total shit! I can try to explain it, it was like an awful combination of gas station restroom with homeless smoking drunk. The carpet looked dirty and when we turned on the light for the restroom we were completely disgusted at how filthy it was.
I had used nicer and cleaner restrooms along the way at gas stations and rest areas. Our cat did not even want to come out of his little carrier, he was so scared and probably disgusted by the shit hole smell in the room.
The room was just plain disgusting and in a terrible shady part of town, I didn’t even want to touch anything in the room. We called the front desk immediately and asked for a refund, which they provided hassle free, so 1 star for that, I guess. So we got our refund and got the fuck out of there!!!
I’ve stayed in many Motel 6’s before and have never seen one as disgusting as this one. Pay a few bucks more to sleep somewhere clean where you’re guaranteed to sleep safe and not have your car broken into.

Dirt cheap motel adjacent to I-​55. Less than 10 minutes from downtown Memphis, and lots of cheap gas stations abound. For what you pay ($ 30 – 40) per night, it’s not the Ritz, but it’s damn decent for a bed, a shower, and getting back on the road the next day.
