Came in for lunch to have their ever popular steak sandwich. I was not impressed whatsoever. The bread was not fresh, the bistec was dry and bland. The cheese wasn’t fresh either they have the prepackaged singles. Overall my sandwich was greasy and bland. It was a waste of calories.
They have the potential if only they were to season their bistec, lay off the oil and invest in better cheese. I’ve been told they had their hey day but unfortunately those days are over. Also a little TLC wouldn’t hurt. The establishment is very dingy am sorry but I won’t be returning.

This is just like your Italian cheeseburger from the chicken spot but the bread they use is better with the edges cut, lmost like a Cuban sandwich. parking can be really tight around their also… place isn’t that big, few seats but man the sandwich is good and for the price of $ 7.50 for a grande steak sandwich can’t go wrong… also place only takes cash so know that ahead of time.

Hands down best steak sandwich you will ever eat in your life. Dos Amigos has been a landmark in this area for years. Everyone who loves pan con bistec has either heard of this place or has been a loyal customer like myself since the beginning of time.
Simplicity at its best. For $ 7.50 you can get yourself Pan con Bistec with cheese or without and two sizes a small or large. Prices between the two sizes vary by $ 1. The sandwich comes thick filled with lots of flavor. Seasoned steak topped with onions (if you want) and french fries all toasted on Cuban bread. Yes please!
They also have batidos (shakes) that are always refreshing and they validate your parking for one hour. CASH only! Check out this spot if you’re around and are in the mood for a delicious and filling steak sandwich. Your taste buds and tummy will thank you. :)

They make a pretty good steak sandwich and some excellent milk shakes… personally, I like their mango shake. Everything comes out quick, if you wanted to go in and order and get the food to go.

Best steak sandwiches ever! Always fresh, and worth the price. Try the shakes, especially the Trigo {wheat, sugar, milk, ice} shake, it goes perfect with the sandwich. Hot sauce takes the sandwich to a whole different level!

Maybe I was expecting too much from this place. I’ve had my fair share of cuban steak sandwiches and this place didn’t blow me away. I got a steak sandwich with onions. The steak was just ok. The fries were fine but under seasoned. The sandwich as a whole was a bit bland and lacked flavor. Maybe you need lots of ketchup to make it taste good? Not my style. On a positive note the customer service was good and parking next door is free with a validated ticket.

I’ve been going to Dos Amigos since I was in highschool. The sandwiches used to be much more flavorful and juicy. I remember coming out of this place reeking of garlic and steak. It’s still absolutely delicious. Hard to beat it, but it isn’t as good as it used to be. The mango shakes are my favorite. Don’t come here thinking you’re going to have options. They keep it simple. Steak sandwich, small or large, with cheese or not, and shakes.

It is a small steak sandwich shop. The reason I’m giving them three stars is because the quality or the favors are just not what they used to be. If you ask for cheese you have to pay a little extra and they are very skimpy with the cheese… can barely tell it’s there. There have been times I’ve order a side of fries and they tell me they do not have enough for the day so they cannot provide me with the side … whatever that means. The price has also recently increased. Lastly, there are so many employees that do not do much… you would think they would clean the stickiness on the hot sauce and ketchup bottles.

If you need to get your steak sandwich on, definitely stop by Dos Amigos. They don’t re-​invent the wheel, but they are consistently plump and tasty. Been coming here since the 90s and although they were better then they still always please.
The batidos are good too but give me a large steak sandwich with onions, no cheese and a can of jupiña and i’m a happy camper.

The sandwiches are great. The favor is so good and the fries inside the sandwich makes it even better. I always get extra cheese. There’s so much meat in the sandwich which is good. You can’t go wrong for the price. Parking does suck but the food is great. It’s always pack when me and my husband goes. Other then that the food is great the shakes are good.

there are steak sandwiches and then there is Dos Amigos. You cant come close to taste and consistency! Dont even try to come up with an arguement it is invalid! Dos Amigos is the undisputed champion many years in a row. Sorry your opinion will not matter against the pan con bistrc king!

I could eat this every day. But I won’t because it’s almost summer and bathing suits and stuff. So dan good! The meat is marinated in mojo which gives it an awesome kick. The fries just add to it. I skip the onions and add ketchup and it is just to die for. Best steak sandwich EVER! And super cheap!

I have been coming here for the past 15 years and it’s by the far the best pan con bistec (steak sandwich) I ever had. What I love most is how you feel like family here it’s small and the service is fast. I try to always analyze how is that this sandwich is so good. Perfectly toasted bread with cheese that you could never find and fries with steak YUMMY IN YOUR TUMMY I TELL YOU. I recommend this place to everyone and I bring all my friends here. Perfect place to spend a day off at.

Been a customer since the late 70s when they were located on 16th St and Bergenline. Those who rave about it today have no idea what delicious, juicy well seasoned treat they missed out on because it has certainly changed over the years.
The meat used to be a hot thin juicy delight, today it is not as seasoned or as juicy as it used to be. The sandwich is drier than it was originally and it’s not uncommon to see someone drowning it in ketchup or hot sauce today. The bread is also not the same.
It’s still the best around just not as good as it was in the old days.
Update 2÷29÷16 Stopped in today and the meats drier than ever, heard another customer complaining of same…

I’ve been coming to Dos Amigos for years now. In the beginning I used to come in and eat because they provide 1 free hour parking but the ladies that work here are so rude. They always give you an attitude and are always giving everyone dirty looks. So I prefer to order ahead now, the place could be remodeled inside, it’s been here for so long the chairs and tables are dirty looking, but overall great sandwiches and smoothies (a bit expensive for a smoothie)

So finally made it to dos amigos.
It has been on my bookmarks for a bit.
First of all hard to find it’s not on bergenline ave, it’s on a side street of bergenline ave.
Took my buddy to check it out as I told him this is a famous local dive.
The sandwiches are good. The bread nice and toasty (crispy).
The meat very flavorful on the salty side.
Reduce the salt by eliminating the cheese.
Another buddy told me they are good but greasy .I disagree with the greasy.
This is the spot one should go if you came from partying .
I had the «grande» oh man I am full…
I need a nap…
Next time I’ll put on more onions and less fries. To bring out the star of the sandwich which is the meAt.
