I totally agree with the other review. I changed pediatricians almost a year ago for my two little girls and we are going back to our roots. I changed because Dr. Coy’s office offered late night hours which is a huge plus for working parents but I have learned that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side. Our very first visit proved traumatizing for my 5 and 7 year old; first because they were in a new environment and secondly they were getting shots. The last thing I needed was for the nurse to give me and my children an attitude and throw her hands up in disgust as my girls screamed their little heads off as she charged at them with the needle. Where was the bedside manner? She was really annoyed as she left the room explaining that she had to go and get someone to help her hold them down. My children and I were all mortified. I was completely exhausted as I struggled to calm my girls down and felt like the worst parent in the world because I should have trusted my first instinct and left when that nurse showed me how nasty she was. It bother me so much, I called Dr. McDevitt the next day and she proceeded to tell me that that nurse has cancer and she was probably depressed because she went through a chemotherapy session the day before. I explained that I was sorry about her health problems, but how was I supposed to know what she was going through and I didn’t think it was fair for her to take it out on innocent children. My girls kept crying that they wanted to go back to the old doctor’s office. Fast forward months later, I called today to get a wellness appointment again and the receptionist left me on hold for approximately 10 minutes. When she finally came to the phone, I asked about making appointments for my girls and she told me that it had to be in November which is a year after the last check up. I was fine with that but I was apprehensive about the whole booster shot uproar again and I asked her if they are eligible to receive shots at ages 6 and 8 and she abruptly told me that she did not know because she is not a doctor or nurse. This was the final straw for me, I called my old pediatrician’s office back and they are welcoming us with open arms. The convenience of late night hours just aren’t worth it for me.
