Love, love Cuban food and this exceeded my expectations, but I usually enter a new restaurant with low expectations when it comes to good Cuban food. Server was punctual and attentive. Restaurant was clean. Pork dishes were wonderful! Portions were good size, not too big and not too small. Good bread offered for free as an appetizer. I would go back on a regular basis if I lived in the area.

This place is average at best. The food was average. I was expecting something more authentic and special since this place is in Florida. The restaurant is dated and needs some improvements. The service was okay. They got one of our orders wrong but did nothing to fix it. Not highly recommended from me.

Nothing about Don Ramon’s food excited me. For supposed«authentic» Cuban cuisine, it all came across as very uninspired! The Cuban sandwich wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t the best I’ve had either. The chicken soup was bland, and the plantain chips had zero salt or flavor. Again, everything was just ‘okay’ and did not taste like authentic Cuban cuisine. Some positives: nice atmosphere, pretty good service and Cuban bread served before the meal. They also had a lunch menu and weekday specials that offered some good deals. Unfortunately, this won’t be my lunch choice again, anytime soon.

Having never had Cuban food before, I really don’t have anything to compare too. However I found the food well prepared and it arrived timely and hot. I guess I was expecting a more varied taste. I saw several items on the menu that piqued my interest, so I for sure will try something different next time.

Chicken sandwich is great. Must try it with their garlic sauce, love their happy hour specials.

I’ve actually been to both locations of Don Ramon’s I love the food from both! However this location was not open on New Years! I had the sweetest server at this location and it looked like a café rather than a restaurant, they had meat booth seats. The service was quick! They refilled the waters very often and the server checked up on us a bunch of times! I had the beef gravy with yuka fries and my boyfriend has the tilapia! Both of the food was cooked to perfection and presented to nicely! The yuka fries are worth it! They were the best I’ve ever had and I will have dreams about these yuka fries! Overall the cost was also good too!

I went there with my family today. We got there at 12:00 noon. More than half an hour went by and no one came to our table. The place was not that full or busy. Finally I got the attention of a waitress and told her how long we had been waiting. She gave us excuses. She finally took our order and then we proceeded to wait again. Two other tables came after our orders were taken. They were served their food and we were still waiting. I finally got up and spoke to the owner. Another server came and asked what the problem was. I explained. Our server came with an attitude and asked if I had complained and I said I had complained. Once again she made excuses that did not make sense. I would have appreciated an I’m sorry from her or for at least the owner to stop by our table. I will never go there again or recommend it to any one. We were there for over 2 hours.

Yummy! This is one of our stops when we are visiting West Palm Beach. Their portions are enormous. The palomilla steak is my favorite with white rice, black beans, and tostones. Their café con leche is also very good. Great service and authentic Cuban food.

My family has been getting food from this place for over 15 years. If what you want is authentic Cuban food at an affordable price this is a good restaurant to try. They also offer packages of takeout meals which you can purchase instead of cooking at home. Portion size is large so often times one take out meal could also be lunch the next day.

I used to like this restaurant but this evening dinner was not appealing. 08÷29÷15; 1800hrs The steak/meat was hard to chew, shrimp was very salty. Regardless of the price, this dish was not worth my time.

The revised review for this restaurant was not for this restaurant. My first review stands correct. Sorry for any confusion.

Our party of 8 thoroughly enjoyed our lunch here today. We were seated promptly. Garlic bread appeared as our drink order was taken. Food took a little long to come out but it was worth the wait. All 8 of us had something different from the menu but everyone was pleased. The lunch specials are an excellent deal. Will be back.

Had one of the specials. Churrasco and shrimp. I love chimichurri sauce and because the shrimp were on top of the Churrasco and smothered in garlic butter none came with the plate. A waiter was kind enough to bring so however. Fried yucca seemed a bit cold and old but the Maduros were very good. The sweet tea didn’t taste like tea and actually tasted like an old dishrag had been left in the pitcher. Ordered Tres Leches to go. Got back to hotel and had the smallest jumble of burnt cake, some marshmallow textured whipped cream on top and no condensed milk in the bottom. Meat was good, cooked decently but not well enough for me to go back. I’ll stick with Havana’s!

Was here a few days ago, and never fails to make me happy eating their food. They have wonderful lunch specials that are roughly $ 5.95 to $ 7.95, so check that out if you go because it’s really, really good food and a lot of it! For example boneless skinless grilled chicken breast with black beans, yellow rice, plantains and a drink. Service is pretty good too. They leave you alone so if you want to spend time just chatting for a couple of hours, which is usually what I like to do, they let you. However the day I was there I asked the waitress for water and had to remind her and when I asked her for extra limes, she never brought them. I would have given her three stars, but the food makes up for the 4 stars.

I have mixed reviews for this one. Beginning with our first impression. When we walked in, the place looked a little run down, outdated and not super clean. It also, had a very distinctive unpleasant smell. Had it only been the hubs and myself, we would have left, immediately. But, we were with a group and were all starving so we stayed. I didn’t have any good expectations for the food. But once it arrived(and my nose adjusted to the stench) I was happy we stayed. The food was terrific. I ordered the Lechon Asado — it was so good. Probably the best I’ve had anywhere — hubs ordered the Ropa Vieja, a standard for him at Cuban Restaurants as it’s one of his favorite dishes. And while he enjoyed his dish, he kept eying mine and gladly polished off my plate when I was full. One of our friends ordered the Camarones Al Ajilb, the shrimp were huge and cooked perfectly and the sauce was beyond good. Also noteworthy are the rice and beans — basic white rice was good just on it’s own and the beans were seasoned really well. Service was a little slow especially for the time of day and number of patrons vs. staff. When we have a craving for Cuban, we might venture back — the food was good, just not sure about the smell — hopefully it was temporary, that or maybe my sniffer was having a sensitive day :)

Don Ramon’s Cuban Restsurant on Military Trail in West Palm Beach is definitely the best Cuban Cuisine in town. The food is authentic and always served hot and tasty. Still run by the original owner. Staff is experienced and very attentive. Very accommodating, we’ve celebrated many Birthdays and special dates and never been disappointed. If you go must try the(chicharitas) fried plantain chips with mojo. The Moros rice and beans made together are cooked just right fluffy and tasty and the pork chunks come in a personal size pot. The Chicken Juliana is one of their specialties as is the churrasco steak and Milanesa. I’ve enjoyed every meal. Desert you must try the Flan it’s a custard like desert. Don’t forget the Cuban Coffee.

This is a great little restaurant and it is in a very cute part of town. We got the sampler platter and the chicken and pork were amazing — flavorful and not too dry. The fried plantains were delicious too as well as the stuffed potatoes.

The food is the only good thing goin on here, and it’s good at best. There’s much better Cuban food a few miles east of here. The décor is in dire need of updating, as well as the exterior of the building this place hasn’t had any kind of updating in 20 years when it went from being a po folks to don Ramon’s. And in closing, the staff have no idea how to treat a customer, and the management knows nothing about his to run a business. To stand at the counter and argue with a customer and refuse to honor an offer is absurd. I walked out and left my food. So they lost a sale, have 50 bucks worth of food to throw away, and they’ve lost a regular customer that dines twice a month. Pretty pathetic.

Service 1 star Food 2.5 stars Growing up in South Florida and spending tons of Sunday evenings as a kid at Versailles in Miami or gobbling up my Abuelas malanga fritters, I was hoping to find a great Cuban restaurant on the North end of South Florida. Don Ramon’s is very close to my house so when my craving for tostones and pork slathered with onions was more then I could handle I knew it was time to try this place out. My husband has been coming here for years and loves it but this past Saturday was my first visit. Arrived around 7 and it was packed but we got a table right away. The restaurant is very dark and all the windows were closed so I was shocked at how warm the place was. I think my legs were stuck to the booth seat by the time we left. Our waitress did not greet us for about 7 – 10 minutes. By that time we knew what we wanted to order and were in desperate need of something cold to drink in this sauna like venue. We started with the tostones and trio tower of appetizers. The tostones were good just not at all what I’m used to. They were made into little cups with a shrimp in each. I think they would have been amazing except they do not come with the mojito garlic dipping sauce. That’s almost my favorite part :(I asked the waitress if she could bring some out but what we got was more like melted butter with a hint of garlic… not what I’m used to but I tried to dig it. Unfortunately we never got to try the sampler/trio appetizer because our waitress forgot to put the order in and our main dishes were on the way. I had the pork chunks, boiled yuca and black beans and rice, my hubs had the steak milanese with plantains and our dining buddy had the boiled chicken. The boys enjoyed their meal but I have to say it was mediocre. I was really disappointed with the amount of pork chucks I received… 4… usually I get 6 – 8 and can make 2 meals out of my dinner choice but no left overs for me. Our waitress was missing most the night and we had to grab any employee working to refill our drinks, ask about bread and sides and even to get our check after we had finished our meal ages ago. I will probably give them a second try and order something different and hopefully get a better server. The bill was extremely reasonable though at only $ 55.00 for 3 people, one appitizer, 3 main dishes and one cocktail. I guess you get what you pay for.
