Visiting from out of town. Stopped by for some ribs and corn bread. The ribs were dry rubbed, cooked to perfection, and simply awesome… even better with their homemade signature sauce. The waitress took time to explain the menu and the different sauces they make and what they go best with. I tried them all! A very clean and welcoming environment great for families. Quite affordable to for the quality and quantity you get. Overall, awesome! Highly recommend trying this place.

I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while and ordered take out. The order was wrong(missing an item), but I was too hungry to care at that point. The smoked chicken was super tender, which was great, but it didn’t have much flavor without the sauce. The BBQ sauce was really good(it was served on the side) — I loved how spicy and savory it was as opposed to cloyingly sweet. The fries were nothing special… I only ate two and was over it. The mac and cheese was very bland and mushy. The BBQ itself was decent, but combined with the sad sides it was pretty expensive takeout for very mediocre food.

The brisket? Awesome. You can taste the smokiness and then you have your choice of a variety of bbq sauces. The inside is not somewhere you may want to have or create a memory but the food? Definitely. Get it to go or stick around for one of the very friendly and helpful waitresses. Absolutely recommend.

This place has some very good pulled pork sandwiches. If I’m looking for something quick they happen to be very close and offer good quality food with generous portions. I’m a big fan of the pulled pork itself and the house BBQ sauce, but they also offer a few other flavors of BBQ sauces. I’m not as big on the others to use them for my whole sandwich, but they are nice to dip a few bites in to add a little extra flavor. The fries are nearly as good as the pork. I’m a big fan of both the fries themselves and the fact they are nice and salty. The combination works really well with the BBQ flavors. One day a week they offer something called a Smokebomb that I would recommend to anyone. It’s a large baked potato filled with the standard loaded baked potato toppings in addition to either pulled pork or brisket. The only complaint is that it’s not on the menu more than once a week.

One of the better experiences we’ve ever had at such a restaurant. We decided to order bbq catering for a Memorial Day party. Following popular Unilocal reviews, we tried a couple of different bbq restaurants in the area. We quickly chose B3Q: Barbeque By Barry, as they had by far the most professional(read: reliable) and friendly service, and the food was absolutely delicious. When we stopped in to sample the pulled pork and beef brisket, we were very warmly met. I wish I had inquired after the woman’s name who served us, but we assumed her to be either an owner or manager. Anyway, she was just lovely, and took the time to introduce us to the menu and the different barbeque sauces(which I believe are made in-house). She also offered helpful advice regarding quantities for catering. We tried the pulled pork and beef brisket sandwiches, accompanied by baked beans and mac&cheese. We were offered 4 different sauces with the meats, and we tried them all. It was recommended that the beef brisket be combined with the Signature Sauce and the pulled pork with a vinegar-based sauce. We agreed with the recommendation, as these sauces perfectly complimented their intended meats. The baked beans were also delicious and different from any we had previously tried — very savory. I’m a great lover of mac & cheese, but this was not my favorite — quite bland. We ordered a half-pan each of the beef brisket and pulled pork, with the accompanying sauces. 20 guests(all adults) at the party, and we had just a little leftover pulled pork by night’s end. Guests almost unanimously agreed the beef brisket was their favorite. It was moist, and so well-seasoned that most people chose to eat it without the sauce. Most people returned to the pan for seconds and thirds. The pulled pork was also a hit. Not as tender as the beef, but such is the nature of pork. It was also so well-seasoned that people were split over whether they preferred it with or without the vinegar sauce. B3Q earned some new clients that day, as most everyone asked where we had purchased the food. I would also like to add that when I picked up the half-pans of meats, I was attended to by a gentleman whom I took to be the owner. He was very friendly and expressed appreciation for my business. I retrieved the trays the day prior to the party, so he gave me very helpful advice on properly warming the trays — which proved quite successful. The employees at B3Q were all friendly and happy and treated each other with respect. The establishment was clean, comfortable, and welcoming. I was glad to spend my money there, and look forward to doing so again.

Absolutely loved the food and dining experience at B3Q: Barbeque by Barry. Upon entering the front door, we were greeted by Grace, who might have been the most friendly, helpful server I’ve ever encountered in the food service industry. She explained the entire menu, as we were first-timers at the place, in a quick, efficient way which left me wanting one of everything on the menu. Myself and my fiancée ordered two combos(brisket and pulled pork sandwiches) with various sides(corn bread, baked beans and mac and cheese) along with an order of Smokehouse Fries(fresh-cut fries with barbecue sauce and cheese) topped with brisket. The food was delivered to the table quickly and was piping hot. The sauce selections varied(vinegar, classic, chipotle and peach) and though they were a bit more watery than I usually like, they mix with and flavor the meat perfectly. The brisket was smoked to perfection and the pulled pork was juicy and flavorful. I can’t wait to return and try some other menu items, especially since I’d rate my first experience at B3Q with 5 stars. We also both left completely full and with a to-go box full of smokehous fries. A first impression like this goes a long way!

Not worth going out of my way for me at least Got the pulled pork sandwich fries and coleslaw First pulled pork wasn’t supper tender, it was over salted, had minimal smoke flavor and what I thought was pretty low qual was the supermarket hamburger bun it was on. For 13 $ I want a real roll Sauce wasnt great it was homemade but tasted a tad generic and too much vinegar and pepper. And I don’t know what the spicy sauce was I think it was just vinegar and red pepper not very spicy Fries were limp and overcooked Coleslaw wasn’t shredded enough However the service was good but i did order ahead but still had to wait ten min I like the floor plan As soon as you walk in your at the counter and the kitchen is open so we can watch the show restaurant is theater But with minimal seating Id hate to come in on a busy night. I miss Maers more everyday…

While traveling south of Scranton punched in BBQ on Unilocal and came here. 10 – 15 min off the highway, well worth the detour. Friendly staff and owner, generous portions, excellent q. Added to GPS to stop by again if in the area.

i found out about this place from Unilocal and saw that it was highly rated. then when i found the place the parking lot was packed and there wasn’t an empty table to be found in the restaurant. i was pretty excited to try their food but unfortunately it fell flat. i tried the pulled pork, brisket, and ribs combo along with a half dozen wings. i went with baked beans, mac n cheese, and cornbread for the sides. the cornbread’s flavor was ok but the texture was not, the sides were a little crusty like it had been pre-cut and sitting around a while. the baked beans were good though, you could tell they were made in house and not a can of Bushs’. the mac n cheese was creamy but had very little flavor. as for the meat, i tried the ribs first. the meat literally fell off when i went to pick up a bone. i know«fall off the bone» is how ribs are marketed but a real BBQ lover knows that this means they are over done. i couldn’t taste much of the dry rub from the ribs but i could taste some of the smoke on it. i couldn’t taste much smoke flavor in the pulled pork or brisket, which were both overcooked and shredded instead of big moist flavorful pieces of meat. i think the cook had the steam tables set too high and all the flavor from the meat just ended up in the bottom of the pan. as for the wings, they were pretty bad, i couldn’t even eat all 6. there was smoke flavor on them but that’s it. no seasoning on the skin and i didn’t care for the texture. they did come with a buffalo sauce though that was good but pretty standard. the main BBQ sauce at barry’s was pretty decent, it was a little on the spicy side so be warned if you’re a fan of super sweet BBQ. the cook seemed flustered but the other workers were nice and the interior was good for a BBQ joint, but i probably won’t go out of my way to try this place again.

It’s hard to leave me speechless, but that’s how I feel right now. Great BBQ! No need for a 45 minute drive up north anymore. The only thing I have bad to say is about myself. How could I have waited so long to try this place out. I live and work very near by, I have no excuse. There wings were amazing! they were still crispy and the sauce was great. I never would have guessed it. I only ordered them on a whim because… well I love wings and it is hard for me to say no. My wife and I ordered one of their platters and split it. More than enough food for two. We even took a lot home and both ate it for lunch the next day. Still great by the way. this may be a short review for me, but it is a good one. You will not be disappointed when you place your paws and sink your teeth into some of this BBQ.

I have been meaning to try this place for awhile now. Everyday I drive by it and today was the day. Drum roll please… I got the pork bbq sandwhich with cole slaw and it was soooooooo good! The pork was tender and had the bbq smoke to it! The sauces they provided were both very good but on the spicey side but I loved it! I would most definitely recommend this to people and will be returning! Yummy!

Having been born and raised in South Carolina I can honestly say this is the best pulled pork sandwich you are going to find in nepa! Trust me. I bleed BBQ sauce.

This place is amazing. My friend and I, who are pork enthusiasts and get together for monthly pork weekends, LOVE this place. Friendly staff, quick service, competitive pricing, and mountains of pig anyway you want it. Don’t even bother with sides just get the pork pile(brisket and pulled pork). We downed five pounds of pork in about ten minutes — it was that good. Make sure you don’t wear tight clothing because you will leave full and satisfied. FANTASTIC place.

Excellent dry rub ribs. Beans and slaw were great. Pulled pork was a little dry. Best fries I’ve ever had. Corn bread was bland.

Anyone who thinks this place is terrible knows NOTHING about dry rub BBQ. I think too many people on Unilocal think Chili’s is a good BBQ place. The food is all freshly cooked. The fries are cut, dropped in water and put into the fryer. I know this because you can see it from the counter. My only wish is that they would expand their menu beyond BBQ. My wife’s isn’t a fan, so it means I’m limited as far trips to Barry’s goes. That said, the fish fry lenten special was great. They’re friendly and nice to deal with. Seating is limited.

We decided to give Barry’s a chance last night because we try to support local eateries and whenever I drive through West Pittston earlier in the week, I roll down the windows to enjoy that lovely smell emanating from Barry’s Smokehouse. We ordered take-out, as it’s always nicer to enjoy a meal in the comfort of your own home. The menu is very limited and small, but when you want to do something right and specialize in something, you don’t need a huge menu. The food will speak for itself. Anyway, my wife and I wanted to sample a number of things off the menu, so were ordered a brisket salad, a sampler platter(pulled pork, brisket, and 3 or 4 ribs with 3 different sides), and an order of fries. The portions were surprisingly big and we got a lot of food for our money, although I did wonder if that was because we ordered ½ hr before closing on a Saturday, and Barry’s is closed on Sundays and Mondays. Whatever the case, we were very happy with the quality and quantity of our food overall. My wife’s brisket salad was gigantic, contained some nice fresh tomatoes and cucumbers, and was topped with a heaping pile of brisket. Across the board, the meat was very good. I can see, in a way, why some Unilocalers would complain about the brisket being dry, but I really enjoyed it… especially those lovely burnt ends. The moist and tender pulled pork was excellent, especially when drizzled with Barry’s awesome tomato-based barbecue sauce. The vinegar sop also served with the food was tasty with a good amount of red pepper flakes. Very nice. And then there’s the ribs. Holy Jeezus, what amazing ribs. These were the show stealer, and my wife didn’t even think she’d like ribs. She never tried ribs before and Barry’s made her a convert. The dry rub on these fall-off-the-bone bad boys was so mouth-watering that putting any kind of sauce on them would be doing them an injustice. The sides – namely the macaroni salad and coleslaw – were lackluster and even a bit flavorless. However, the beans were incredible, since they reminded me of my mother’s baked beans, and they included a decent amount of bacon. And, hell, who doesn’t love a little bacon with their barbecue? Disliking bacon is un-American. The massive portion of fresh-cut fries smelled heavenly, and tasted good, even if a bit soggy. All in all, a great meal and lot of food for the price. We’ll definitely be back, but likely as a treat or when we’re really hungry for some of that delicious, smoky goodness. Let’s hope that Barry’s sticks around for a while, because to lose a local opportunity for some good smokehouse food would be a shame. Nice work, Barry!

I love bbq and up until now I’ve had to drive 26 miles to get it. Barry’s has fantastic pulled pork and brisket sandwiches. The best part is they’re offered as a wrap! Incredible. Their fresh cut fries are out of this world. The sauces are good but I knocked off a star because I personally like a thicker sauce, but that’s just me. We will be back again.

For a place that specializes in barbecue pulled pork type food, I was very disappointed in the food in general. It is very dry, sauces are not too good. I know barbecue. I was very disappointed. I can look past the high price if the food is excellent but you can do better in the frozen food department at the supermarket. The place is very clean and laid out nice. They could have a literal gold mine here. If they do it right they would be packed 24 X 7.
