I have eaten here many times and the word that best describes this place in my opinion is inconsistent. Sometimes the food and service are great and other times I leave dissatisfied.

Keeping in mind this place is really small; we came into eat around 6:45 pm. We are Stood by the front door for 10 mins before we were even acknowledged. We were told to sit at the table by the market door… Told, literally the waitress or host pointed the table out and was told to sit there. After 10 seconds of having the door for the market being opened and shut, we asked to sit at one of the other 3 tables which were open… Thankfully we were granted the privilege to sit at another table. After 10 minutes, we were told the specials. The waitress said she would be back in a few. Thankfully I asked for water and wine glasses(it’s a BYOB place). Since there was one waitress for the entire dining room, we had to wait our turn after numerous tables that were seated after us were served. The food was ok. I am not sure how anyone could mess up crab claws with a ton of butter and garlic. The sushi was ok. No matter what fancy name you throw on a menu, the quality of the product, and the person who makes the sushi determines the outcome. For $ 17 a roll of sushi in Reading, Pa, I was expecting a great roll. … Average, that is how I would explain the entire night… Average. So if you want a place where you spend a nice buck, and bring your own booze, and were given average service and food, then this is your place!!!

Four stars? What was I thinking? Clearly a five star establishment. Reservations recommended. Don’t forgot to bring your own booze. Order something that you haven’t tried before. Sit back and enjoy the ambiance.

Came for dinner with friends, we had a table right away and service was quick! I thought the prices were a bit high but the quality was good and BYOB is nice. I’d definitely come back!

What a gem in West Reading! Highlights: — Sushi selection is amazing! They have a standard menu which gets updates appropriately and daily specials. — Sushi taste and quality is amazing! Always fresh and delicious. I have tried many rolls and they are all phenomenal. — Fun atmosphere. It gets crowded on a Friday night but totally worth it. — BYOB! Definitely a go-to for sushi!

Wow what a great find in Reading! I love seafood and this place has some incredible options. They has a really great menu all around actually. Very modern décor inside. Staff was quick and attentive. Pricing was right. I’ve bookmarked this spot and will definitely be returning!

UPDATE: Went again last night. Place was bursting at the seams! So glad to see West Reading so vibrant in the evening. Anyway, I wanted to opine on the foods I tried last night: Edamame beans(curiously not on their menu): tasted fine, just like edamame at any restaurant. I suspect it’s hard to mess these up. Teriyaki shrimp salad: quite tasty! BUT, the bowl is a little small for the amount of food, making it a bit difficult to mix everything up. More importantly, they really pour on the dressing, so by the end your salad is just sitting in a soup of vinaigrette. Next time I would probably ask for the dressing on the side. Grilled mahi mahi: the girlfriend ordered this, and I had a couple bites. By itself, the fish is perhaps a little dry, but with the rice, mango salsa, and relish, it’s quite zesty. Nice dish.

I do wish Go Fish would get some new digs. Yeah, I know it’s cozy, but a little more light and a bigger place where the tables weren’t so close to each other would be nice. With that said, my husband and I always have a great meal here. Stopped in today for a late lunch. I ordered a cup of the clam chowder — creamy with plenty of clams and chunks of potato that was outstanding. Hubby ordered the salmon club sandwich with the crabby chips and cole slaw while I had the Baja fish tacos with grilled mahi, fresh salsa, and guacamole. Both orders were perfect: fish was fresh, absolutely delicious. Sundried tomato mayo(and bacon!) on the salmon club really made the sandwich outstanding, and I loved the warm tortillas that accompanied my mahi. Too full to sample dessert. Service here is satisfactory. We’ve never had poor service. It seems that they have a high turnover for waiters — not sure why. I’m not a fan of plastic drink ware or paper napkins(although I do understand the need for tons of paper napkins in dealing with messier dishes, like the tacos). If you’ve never tried their sushi, you are truly missing out. Excellent. Also, the quality of their fish and shellfish that they sell in their store(back of the restaurant) is top quality.

Oh yeah, that was some good food. I even decided to order some to take some of the parts home after lunch, it was that good. Now the challenge is to see if I can make is as well. Crab salad my favorite!

Was brought here with some work friends. I’ll say this it was a very cozy little joint. BYOB is so convenient since there are a few craft brew places very close by. I personally loved the glass deli style case showing off all the seafood I wanted to devour! I had the rangoons and never paid attention to whether they were good, but there was not a single one left so. I had a pretty difficult time choosing between the Maryland style crab cakes and the Salmon dinner. I went with the salmon and boy was it tasty. I don’t like giving out 5 stars only because if I did, I’d have to move in, wash dishes and ask to be fed constantly. Love local joints and this one didn’t disappoint! «ILLBEBACK” — Da terminator

Great little restaurant ! The place was packed, which was great to see. The décor is casual and chic. It really goes well with the West Reading vibe. Our sushi was very well made. Looked and melted in our mouths. Very enjoyable meal!

We got take out tonight delivered by Reading Food Express. The sushi was excellent — loved it all, but the Scallops Puttanesca is a joke. 5 scallops and a half a cup of rice for $ 25.00 is crazy. Not sure if this is the standard size for this meal or if we got screwed because it was a take out. My husband wasn’t thrilled by the prices to begin with and then to get such a small portion on top of that — I’m not sure I’ll be able to get him to try anything from Go Fish again :(! Disappointing…

Went here a few months ago with my wife, since she always raves about the sushi for lunch. Apparently, they had a large party inside, and couldn’t handle having other customers. Took 90 minutes to grab a burger(which was horrendously overdone) that I needed to drown in ranch dressing to overcome the dryness. My wife’s sushi was average — it shouldn’t take over an hour for sushi. They were clearly over their heads, but made little effort to apologize or offer anything for the inconvenience(except for the table beside us, who whined and complained, eventually getting free food). Then they tried to overcharge me for the burger, which was clearly listed at $ 16 — tried to charge $ 19. When I brought this to their attention, they said that the menu had the wrong amount, but they would honor the price on the menu. It’s in writing, folks! Unless you’re charging your burgers at Market Price, you can’t just make up prices on the spot.

The worst sushi I have ever eaten. So disappointed since all I have heard is good things. Sushi was no where near fresh and sadly the avocado wasn’t either!!! The people who waited on us and made the Sushi were so discombobulated.

I’d say the best sushi in the Reading area. even the rice wrapped around was good(plus the sesame seeds are always a good sign)

Service A+. Food A+. The Green Seafood Curry was delicious. My husband had the Seared Scallop special and practically licked the plate! Next time I will try Sushi as every plate going by us looked amazing.

My wife and I visited last evening. She had a seaweed salad and salmon tempura roll. She said it was very good. I’m one of those Neanderthals who thinks fish should be fried, so I had beer battered fish and chips. It was also very good. I also had siracha cream of crab soup which was GREAT. We didn’t have any of the service problems that others have reported. I read the reviews ahead of time and planned accordingly. We skipped lunch and went early for dinner. We didn’t have a reservation, but were seated immediately. Our food came out quickly and was delicious. Our waitress, Dinah, was helpful, attentive and pleasant. I would recommend reservations on Fri and Sat evenings, because it was really filling up by the time we left. If you’re going at a busy time, take a bottle of wine, sit back and chill out while your food is prepared. It is worth the wait. If you’re in a rush and can’t wait, burger king is down the street. There is off-street parking in the back. Coming in the back door you pass through the fish market, YUM!

I just had the Sushi Special #1 «The Gilligan» to go… it was positively delicious! It was filled with real lump crab meat(NOT imitation krab). The ginger, scallion, chili oil, and other spices were artfully crafted with the rich but subtle flavors of the crab and yellow tail. In addition to the delectable restaurant, there is also a complete seafood market offering many unique and tempting choices. Parking: there are many designated parking spots directly behind the establishment. Just go to either end of the block for easy access to the street behind the shops. This is the kind of place I am always trying to find when I am traveling. I am lucky to have this one close by! See the photos of The Gilligan sushi roll and the descriptive menu listing…

My wife is into Sushi and says this place has the best she has tasted in Berks county. I on the other hand prefer my select seafood cooked, therefor I will comment on the market side of this establishment. I am amazed at bathe freshness of the sea food available. We ordered 50 little neck clams and 4 live lobsters and everything was of amazing freshness and quality. Upon preparing the clams I could tell they were not the same as I usually get in the local supermarket. The flavor tones and scent were much more appealing. As for the live lobsters they seemed very active and not as docile as you find in other retailers. I had a hard time keeping the boxes closed. The flavor and texture of the meat was superb. This is now my local sea food market and I am so happy it is in my neighborhood of West Reading.
