I agree with RF, Mendeszoon’s just not very adept. I’ve seen him a couple of times about 2 different issues and he had no opinion(other than to recommend orthotics). Turns out, I had 2 torn tendons that requiired surgery. Maybe if it’s something simple, then give him a go. But if you need to see someone who really thinks through your particular problem and comes up with something you couldn’t have found on-line, then pay the extra money and go to an orthopedist(foot and ankle). Ewald Mendeszoon isn’t an actual doctor — he’s a podiatrist, and therefore doesn’t apply the same bone metric focus as does an orthopedist.

Dr. Mendeszoon is fantastic. I see him the one day a week he spends at the Fenway Community Health Center, so I can’t comment on his private practice atmosphere and such. He’s capable, friendly, understanding, and always explains what’s going on. I highly, highly recommend him if you need a podiatrist!
