Really wish I saw these reviews 1^st. Would have saved $ 215 & my washing machine would probably be fixed. A couple of weeks ago, I called Mike’s & spoke to his wife Joyce who sounded nice & personable. Explained my washing machine woes & she booked me for a Tues 10am appt w Mike. I waited until 10:20am then called to see why no show & she gave several excuses starting with her having to deal with handicapped children to Mike running late bc earlier appts. Any of which is okay, just let people know is all I’m saying. It shows no regard for my time & the multiple excuses weren’t necessary & frankly, insulting. She did call me back to say he’ll be at my house by 11am, but he actually showed up @ 11:40am. His 10 minute assessment was that I needed a new pump & it would be $ 150. He had a to order it but wanted the $ 215($ 150pump+$ 65 visit fee) upfront. Wrote a check, he cashed it that day & now a week & a half later, nothing. I called him next day to ask about an eta on the pump so I could have an idea of when he’d return. That & every call since have gone un-​answered & un-​retuned. After reading these reviews & others on google, the better business bureau,
, pretty much anywhere I’ve looked, I wish I chose differently. I have children & really want my $ 215 back but more than that, I don’t want anyone else scammed like me & others here. Chris S. said he wanted to gather us together to go after this guy in court which I’d be willing to do but his email
doesn’t work. If anyone is interested like I am to end this scam & hold this fraud accountable, I set up,

I had the same experience as Helen. Mike Gill ripped me off. I thought we were in good hands because a family member had used him over the past few years to fix several broken appliances. After spending a few minutes trying to fix the broken oven he said we needed a new part which didn’t come as a surprise to us. We felt comfortable writing him a check for $ 200 ($ 65 service fee and $ 135 deposit on the new part). Once the part arrived in the next 7 – 10 days he would give us a call to arrange the install. Well its been two weeks and he has cashed the check but won’t return our numerous calls. After doing a quick search on the internet it looks like Mr. Gill has started pulling this scam over the past few months. We have filed a complaint with the MA Attorney General’s Office and plan to take him to small claims court unless he gives us our money back. Do not do business with Mike’s Metrowest Appliance Repair unless you want to get ripped off! Mike Gill and his wife Joyce, his dispatcher are not honest at all! 10 days ago, I Called to have him look at our dishwasher which was broken. He said he needed to order a part and he walked away with a check from me for $ 140 ($ 65 for the labor and $ 75 for the part, a water valve). which he said might in fact cost more, but to secure the order, I gave him a check. Since he lives about a mile from me, I thought, hey, this guy wouldn’t screw me over… and believe me I wasn’t born yesterday!
Wrong! I’ve left several messages just to find out what the status is, and no response. I called today, and spoke with «Cindy» (who sounded an awful lot like Joyce to me), but explained she was Joyce’s sister… she couldn’t get off the phone fast enough, of course promising Mike would call me back. When I googled Mike’s name, I saw he was arrested in Feb 2009 in Brookline for driving with a suspended license… don’t know if he was found guilty, you do the math… So lesson learned, stick with a reputable business and even though there’s lots of great independent «little guys» out there (this guy was not little, by the way…) references are key! I doubt we’lll ever hear back from him, but he has to live with himself… and I do believe in Karma.
Would be interested in hearing from other’s who’ve hired this schmuck!
