I usually go to azul for taco Tuesday but my co worker told me to try this place out. I’m glad I did! The service was great and the quality of the meat was outstanding. The tacos are bigger than I’m used to which is great. Free chips and salsa as well. I will definitely come back here.

Not too impressed with this place. It’s not the worst. Not too much flavor in the food. Micheladad are horrible. Customer service is not the best. Found a spot right down the street. My family and i have gone there 3 times this week now. Very impressed with them.

SEXIST I’ve been coming here for 10 years. Sometimes they make mistakes on my burrito, sometimes it’s correct. Every time they make a mistake I’m generally still in West Sacramento so I come back and exchange it. This last Saturday I ordered burritos for one of my helpers and me. I didn’t check it at the restaurant because the last few times everything has been correct. Also, it’s very messy to take off foil and unroll a burrito. Ive worked all day and I’m kind of just depending on them to take my money and get everything right. We get back to South Sacramento and he grabbed the one that had«steak» wrote on it, and I grabbed«pastor, no frij.» We unsuspectingly take bites out of each other’s burritos and they not only were missed marked, but they were also incorrect to what we had ordered. So now we’ve been out of each other’s burritos and they were wrong to begin with. I immediately called, and the first girl tells me that they were not wrong. Well indeed they actually were. So she hands the phone to another woman. The second woman tells me to bring them back. I don’t feel like driving 15 miles. I worked all day and I’m tired and hungry. There’s another burrito place two minutes from my own house. Second woman hands the phone to a third, this time a man. He write down my name, he tells me they will replace my two burritos when I come back. Fast forward three days later. This time I have two helpers. I want the two replaced and we also want to purchase a third burrito and three drinks. Ramon tells me that it is policy that I have to bring back the original burritos. I understand that but third person I talked to was fine taking down my name for future reference. I have driven back so many times in the past ugh Ramon absolutely won’t budge and tells me well maybe if you come down and I see your face. I come down and meet with Ramon face-to-face and he is just completely brushing me off. He admits that he recognizes me, knows me by name, that I always leave tips when I come in, that I’m covering bills for at least 2 to 3 people at a time. Commonsense would tell you that this is a client you want to retain and that I’m not a thief. He keeps explaining to me over and over will think about it how do I know something was wrong with the food, people can just lie and get free food. But when you see a customer for years, and they leave tips, and they always swap their food out when they make mistakes, one can in for her then I’m not trying to get over on him for two burritos! What is that, $ 14? Not only am I trying to get these two burritos replaced rightfully so, but I’m also trying to spend more money for a third person today. Ramon kept repeating himself calmly like a broken tape-recorder like I’m some psycho, out of control woman that makes no sense. He even had the audacity to wink at two men that were walking by that made eye contact with him. I took that is basically dismissing me and my complaint because I’m a woman. He took no responsibility for his workers’ actions last Saturday and pinned it all on me. This was a simple problem that was easily fixed. He asked like I don’t understand his point of view as a business owner trying to avoid getting taken advantage of. I told him here’s my face so you know who exactly wrote this review and I’m not going to ever come back here ever again because of how you treated me. He said that’s fine. Yes it probably is fine because I’m only one person that may become then twice a month for three meals for three different people. They aren’t going to miss my $ 30 or so every few weeks because they are so big. But when a business gets so big and close minded that they can’t even care about the regulars, that’s a huge mistake. Food is great when it is correct, however the owner, Ramon, of Ay Jalisco is a sexist with no common sense. I don’t want to support a company with someone like that at the top.

Great prices, excellent salsa bar, and there was someone making homemade tortillas for every meal. It was so good. Can’t wait to go back.

This is my favorite Mexican resturant of all time. No, not my favorite in Sacramento, my favorite period. I have been coming here for over 10 years now at this point. I would drive 20 minutes just to eat here thats how much I love it. The salsa bar is the best, its why I started coming here in the first place. The hot salsa is my favorite and I am so glad they now allow you to buy it by the cup. My go-to order is 3 carne asada tacos(spicy of course). They are delicious, every now and then I get some chicken nachos if I want to mix it up. Almost every time I come here this place is busy, I notice many police officers work here as many construction workers, these people KNOW good food. The first thing you will notice is just how many Mexican people come here themselves. That should tell you something about the quality and authenticity of the food This place used to be a lot smaller, it has expanded twice now. They purchased the building nextdoor and tore down the wall making it bigger. Then they did it again a few years later. The newest dining area used to be a MetroPCS. The funniest part was for a couple month span you could not drink beer in the area that used to be a metro because they must not have been zoned for that. This place is BUSY a lot. On Sundays it is packed, you usually get the after church crowd and children’s soccer games coming here after. They added snacks for kids like gatorade and little hostess cupcakes for a treat for the kids who may not want to eat. I don’t know why everyone is talking about«tone» and rudeness with the staff. I have never once noticed that. This is actually the place that made me sign up for Unilocal because I know I will be Duke of this place in no time. The best part of me coming here so long is I can see how much they have changed and grown. Other than the two expansions they now have a van so they can cater and do events. The actual store itself has been renovated at least once with new fixtures and tile and so on. Brb getting Jalescos

Tone of the lady working behind the counter totally changed when she realized I didn’t speak Spanish. Food was out quickly, but seemed to be cold. Serving sizes are pretty bad here considering the pricing. Salsa was pretty damn hot. I was impressed with that. Maybe I’ll check it out again.

Tried this place a dozen times. The crispy chicken tacos sucked and had no flavor. It’s the same ol dry ass chicken chunks like Taco Bell would use. The chile relleno sucked even more! Way too much egg batter and was soggy. Hardly any cheese! Stick with the Pastor and you can’t go wrong. So the food is sub par with no love.

This is a great little Mexican food place. They have a great selection of different meats that you can have on your tacos and burritos besides just the standard beef chicken and pork which makes your dining experience a potential Adventure.

Luv this place. Their food is soooooooo good. We’ve been going here for years. Their asada burritos are huge and so good. This is definitely one of my fav mexican food spots in sac. Luv the salsa bar. Place is Always clean and the people are always friendly. Great place to eat.

Solid burritos and their«hot» salsa packs some straight heat. For those who’ll notice, they have crema and not sour cream, which is a HUGE upgrade. the place is clean, well priced and fast. parking is easy. if they actually bbq’d the meat, i’d give them 10⁄10. Pros — prices — non-americanized mexican food — free chips and salsa Cons — west sac. — you may overeat chips and salsa

Horrible customer service! I live around the corner from here and have been going her for a few years. I mostly come for the green salsa. My order is very simple I always get two cheese enchiladas with green sauce. They not only microwave my food but then charge an arm and a leg for it. They also tend to get my order wrong. I don’t like their red salsa on my food like I said before I come for the green salsa. I have never complained before about my order being wrong until about a month ago I brought my mom here and sure enough they got my order wrong. I politely went to them and told them it was not what I ordered. The guy immediately began to argue with me saying they only put red salsa on their enchiladas. I told him I specifically asked for green. I have been ordering it this way for years here. He proceeded to call me a liar. He then said he didn’t want to throw my food away so there was nothing he could do. I gave up arguing and told my mom lets leave. My mom said no this is ridiculous went and tried to get my order corrected, the guy flipped out and chucked the food in the trash next to him violently throwing a fit about it. He caused a huge scene in his restaurant. I have never been so poorly treated in my life. This restaurant has lost me and my family as a customer along with everyone else I tell this story too. Customer service matters! Especially when your microwaving a tortilla with only cheese in it and charging me 10 bucks.

I usually come here for lunch. Usually order a torta. This time I was really craving shrimp so ordered shrimp with Diablo sauce. Cost me with a drink around $ 16 so really expensive. Shrimp tasted very water down and bland, and the sauce tasted like something out of a can vs home made. Never ordering this again. Other than that the food here is pretty decent.

Inconspicuous location in a strip mall, but don’t allow it’s location to be a judge for the quality of food. It is outstanding here! I ordered the carne asada special plate. Amazing — flour tortillas were soft and meat was thin and tender. Very solid, clean flavors as is ideal. The complimentary chips and salsa are also spot on, enhanced with this very hot oil sauce they have on every table. Overall — would come back again for sure and highly recommend to anyone in the Sac area.

I stopped here while in town for a youth ice hockey tournament. I am glad I did. I ate two al pastor and two carne asada tacos. They were great. I usually go for pastor over asada, but the marinade they used on the beef was delicious. It had a slightly tangy citrus flavor. I could taste a hint of cinnamon in the pastor. The spicy salsa had good heat and a smoky chipotle flavor. Usually a spicy salsa is only medium heat. This was medium plus. You can get more at the salsa bar. They sell beer. Tacos and beer combine two of my favorite things. You cannot go wrong with that.

Very disappointed customer. I have lived here for almost seven years and this was my second time coming to this place. I was not very impressed the first time but was willing to give it another try. Should have gone across the street instead. Ordered nachos to go and when I got home, the first thing I see on top of my nachos is black pieces of avocado. There is no way the cook didn’t see that when he was preparing my food; however since it was a «to go order» I’m sure he didn’t care. On top of that, I think they put the styrofoam plate inside the microwave because it burned the bottom of the container. I will NEVER go back and will not recommend to anyone.

Ok came to this spot cus the wife had a work lunch here and she was raving about it. Well tried to order a 2 tacos plate, wth rice and bean tacos. And the chick at the counter could not grasp the fact that we didn’t want any meat. we tried and tried in English and Spanish. We told her just tacos with everything like you make them except beans in place a of meat. So we got hard taco shells like taco bell and bean and letting tomatoes, basically a taco bell taco. Mark off another place we won’t ever come back to.

I came here during breakfast hours by chance this past weekend and I keep coming back. Tacos are nothing if not authentic here with generous helpings of well seasoned meat. Carne asada and tacos al pastor are surefire bets. The medium and hot salsa are so-so in flavor, but they satisfy when used with the mild salsa and lime. Chips are free, self-serve, and bottomless. Staff is English speaking and kind, and service is quick! Horchata from the soda fountain was really dilute, but guava was delicious. We also sampled a baked bread with some kind of carnitas drenched in spicy sauce. Delicious. Bread was overwhelming but the meat was so flavorful. We just ate the meat with the chips. Having high Texas standards for Mexican food(not the junk they call Tex Mex), this restaurant satisfied. To anyone who complains about décor, who comes to a taqueria for atmosphere???

Spacious inside is a surprise coming in from the humble outside. Overall the food that I had was average but with pleasant presentation. The Al Pastor was of excellent quality, probably sliced from a spit. Moist, tender, good marinade. My wife lucked out with good tacos. I had the birria plate with rice and beans. The standout surprisingly, was the rice. The beans were kind of bland, and the meat was very plain. I prefer my goat to be gamy, but the meat served made me wonder if it was actually just tough boiled beef with all the flavor soaked out of it. There was, however, a cup of fatty stew as a dip that made the meat taste better. Maybe beef fat, maybe goat fat, some kinda fat. I also had a fish taco. It was decent. The fish was tender tilapia, the toppings were lettuce, pico de gallo, and cheese. The tortilla looked like a flour tortilla but tasted like a corn tortilla so maybe it was a combination of the two. I added some of the super hot, super smoky oil from the table to the taco and the spice ignited was no joke. Overall, I had an OK experience, but I would only return for the Al Pastor.

The reason I am giving this place a one star; first food ordered over the phone is not ready for pickup; they start the order when you arrive there waiting another 15 – 20 min. In addition, when I reached home it was not the right order. I was truly looking forward to eating since I skipped my lunch. :(

DONOTEATHERE!!! Horrible customer service and they don’t care. We spent $ 130.00 with 24 hours here and when we came in we had a big group and had asked for a bigger container to put some salsa in. The lady at the counter gave us bad attitude and told us no. I had made a comment to one of the workers there and told her that we spend a lot here and we really like the place but that’s no way to treat a good customer. We left and they forgot one of our orders in the bag. So I called to see if they would do anything about it. They didn’t. I told the manager/owner I don’t know the old lady at the register and told her that for customer service like this we would stop coming there. She said OK that’s fine and hung up on me. So rude and disrespectful to her customers.

I have been to this taqueria on a couple on occasions for lunch with co-workers. We work on Capitol Mall and it’s worth the short drive over the Tower Bridge. I have had both the enchiladas and tacos with chicken. I love the fact that the chicken is chopped and not shredded and the chicken is very flavorful. They offer free chips and the salsa options are really good and fresh.

Walked in and was surprised at the size and décor. I thought it would be small and dingy but it was spacious and clean. Person at counter was nice and pleasant. I ordered one of the $ 7.98 daily specials enchilada/taco combo that includes a free drink. The combo was much smaller than I am used to at a mexican restaurant but maybe because it was a lunch special it was a smaller portion? Still it was tasty enough. I didn’t say Mmmmm when I took a bite but I also cleaned my plate. My friend ordered the chicken nachos. I liked that they melted real cheese on it vs. generic nacho cheese but she said the chicken was really dry and bland. They use dark meat chicken on everything it seems. I prefer white or mix. It would be better if the meats had a bit more flavor to it. However, I really like that they had pico de gallo at the Salsa bar. You rarely ever see that. The red sauces were very spicy and bit too much for me. They are definitely not the best I have ever had but good enough that I would return for a change of pace. My rating is really a 3.50 but since they were nice and the place was clean, they get rounded to a 4.

I came here for lunch on a Wednesday around 12:30 p.m. while visiting West Sacramento during my lunch hour. First of all, this place is way too expensive for a divey Mexican restaurant. My breakfast burrito was $ 7.55 which is definitely not what I would call a deal. It also was served too hot, loosely wrapped and leaking extra water from the inside ingredients. I rather stick with my 89 cent breakfast burritos from Del Taco than order this again. As far as atmosphere, I appreciated that the line was not super long over lunch and that there was plenty of seating. The environment is clean, but it’s not the kind of place that I would want to hang out longer than I have to. I don’t think it deserves less than three stars, but I definitely was not impressed.
