I recently learned about this place. Buffalo and the surrounding areas have all these hidden nature gems. I keep finding more of them. Burchfield(of the Burchfield Museum name as well), lived outside of Buffalo in West Seneca. He did a lot of his painting here, where this Nature and Art Center is now located. Its a park with nature trails and woods, some super nice gardens, and art classes. Its also a gallery with displays and exhibits, many by local artists. All summer long there are events here. On Wednesdays there are children’s events, they vary weekly, but are meant for all ages. So if those kids are not in camp, and you want to do something with them, this is the place to come. In the fall they have some movie nights(check their website ) for upcoming movies. For all you bakers out there, there is a terrific pie contest in October. You can shake the cobwebs off your Thanksgiving Pie recipe here. Also in Oct is a Family Festival. Open weekdays from 10 – 4, and Sundays from 1 – 4 in the summer. Worth a visit if you are looking for something new to do. 1050

This is an awesome park that is under utilized. I used to come here with my little sisters and yesterday, I brought my children for the first time. It is beautiful and acres and acres of trails. Bridges, gazebos, the creek, gardens, trees — it is enchanting. There are two playgrounds on site too — a small one for younger kids and a much larger one for older children. Pack a picnic lunch and spend the day here. A free and fun outing!
