Cutest place ever! Came here for breakfast after working 12 hours night shift in nearby TMC, and was really in the mood to treat myself after working three nights in a row. What better way to treat myself than to feast on their scrumptious blueberry pancakes, half of the super buttery croissant with jelly, and the best chocolate chip cookie ever! Only downside was that traffic was bad due to nearby school traffic, and I had to circle around a couple times to find parking. Prices are a little steep, but food makes it a well-deserved treat!

I’ve been here for brunch a bunch but decided to come for dinner with an out-of-town guest. I won’t be coming back. Food was good but they pulled a really obnoxious trick with the bill at the end. I ordered the kale salad as an entrée which was listed at $ 12. The waiter said he could add protein to it. Great. I took 4 pieces of grilled shrimp on top of the salad. When we got the bill they charged us $ 32 for«shrimp and risotto» — subbing the salad for risotto. When we asked about the charge — $ 20 to add shrimp to a salad — the waiter said he would ask the manager. He came back and said there was«nothing he could do». That was their policy. When we asked to discuss it with the manager, the manager didn’t have he decency to come talk to us. He just sent the waiter back with a revised bill for $ 12 for the salad and $ 8 to add protein. What it should have been in the first place. Thanks for insulting your customers. This local place is no longer on my locals list. I’m embarrassed to have recommended it to my guest.

This was my best experience at any of the Tiny’s locations! I have been eating at their cafes for several years, off and on, with friends and family. Honestly, they are usually so snooty and confusing with information about their hours and lunch break(they have hours where they do not serve food, FYI) that I have recently sworn off of them. But this last time was great! The West U location serves brunch all day, which is so wonderful and unlike the other location. My friend and I both had the West U breakfast platter with scrambled eggs, thick(double-layered) bacon, perfection breakfast potatoes, and a very delicious biscuit served with homemade jam and butter. It was exactly what I needed that afternoon. Completed with a bottle of bubbly, of course! The lady who works the front cashier station is always pleasant at this location, which is WAY more than I can say for the spot at Greenway Plaza area. She is polite, friendly, and prompt. The hostess found us a table and immediately placed silverware and napkins, which was a nice touch in the middle of busy day. Noise level is fine. Décor is lovely and fresh. Food is always delicious. Bathrooms are usually clean. Only venue complaint is the shop next door smells too strongly of scented oils and candles… a smell which lingers in the patio area of the restaurant and is unpleasant while dining. Thank you for a good experience, and keep up the good work!

Nice outside seating except the grass was dead and the ground muddy. Food is excellent but limited menu and seriously overpriced. $ 26 for a burger and shoe string fries. They are in a great West U location and prime for families who want an alternative to Rice Village but if that is the crowd they are catering to you would think they would offer a children’s menu.

Great place for eating anytime of day. The breakfast and pastries are amazing. Greatest chocolate chip cookie in town. Also the strawberry bread is amazing.

Cute place, hard to find. It’s on the back side of a bank. Came for a girls’ brunch and really liked the atmosphere. The food is mediocre, the portions are small. The chocolate chip cookie is good, but not thaaaaat good.(Maybe the Unilocal reviews over hyped it for me). Prices are not listed on the chalkboard menu, so it comes as a surprise. Drinks are pricey and not strong. My friend’s bill for a drink, eggs and a cookie was over $ 30. Definitely expensive for Houston.

Very cute spot in Rice Village for a business dinner on a weeknight. The ambiance is trendy and intimate, and I like that the menu isn’t a multi-chapter novel. The lighting is quite dim, so those with aged eyes may need some assistance. Of the appetizers, the artichokes were stellar while the kale Caesar wasn’t as standout. The shrimp and risotto was fair — the ratio of risotto to shrimp was a tad high, and the twang of the lemon in the risotto needed the seafood accompaniment. Frankly, what tipped the scales to 3.5(and thus 4) is that cookie. Warm, crunchy on the corners and gooey in the middle — I laughed when I was brought a fork but quickly embraced the benefit of the utensil. I’d go back just for the cookie.

YUM! All I can say is please do yourself a favor and get the cinnamon sugar donuts. Made FRESH to order and dusted in cinnamon sugar, these things were golden and crisp on the outside and gooey in the very Middle. also got the turkey club which was good(nothing too special) but fresh and thick cut bacon in it which was good. Sweet potato fries were good, but not the best I’ve had. Would probably order the frites next time(they looked bomb). My friend got the southern egg scramble and fresh biscuit which was big and really good served with fresh strawberry jam! They layout it cool, white washed wall and ceiling, cool long wooden table and outdoor area. And exposed wooden beams on ceiling. Very cool looking. Chill service, all the staff were friendly and very helpful.

We had brunch at Tinys, and it was just great – expensive, but wonderful. The place is just charming, and the food is delish. The restaurant us upscale and really cute – I felt like I was at a garden party. For food, I had the west u special: bacon, scrambled eggs and a biscuit. While a seemingly standard meal, the biscuit was the best part – flaky and served with jam. And you can’t leave without having one of their famous chocolate chip cookies – they are just incredible and oh-so-good. Mimosas are so-so – a little overpriced for what you get, but so is the rest of the food. Compared to Tiny Boxwoods, this place is very similar, but it feels like they have more seating. A great place for a splurge brunch.

I had brunch here today(Sunday) at around 10:30. I have been to Tiny Boxwoods many times for lunch, which I enjoy, but this was my first time here. There wasn’t much of a line, but after 11, it was getting pretty crowded, and around noon, the line was very long, so I would recommend getting here before 11:30 if you don’t want to wait too long. I tried the migas, which were fine, but nothing spectacular. I could probably make something at home in about 5 minutes. The portion was also pretty small, so I was still a bit hungry after. They also don’t display the prices, but in general I think everything is kind of pricey for what you are getting. Tinys No 5 is a nice environment, and if it’s anything like Tiny Boxwoods(which I assume it is), I’ll probably come back here but order something more substantial.

I went to Tiny Boxwoods years ago and was not impressed. But I enjoyed Tiny’s No. 5. I went to lunch with a group of colleagues today. As soon as we walked in the door, there was a long line and not much room in the lobby area. People had to wait outside since there wasn’t any room in the entrance. They should do something about that. Who wants to wait outside when it’s HOT outside? So, now to the food… I ordered the Tiny’s Trio which was chicken salad, mixed greens and fresh fruit along with some cranberry toasted bread. Not bad but nothing special. I don’t think it was really worth $ 15 though. I also ordered the Mint Lemonade and it was amazing! So refreshing! My colleague ordered the Crispy Chicken Salad and it looked really good! I wish I had ordered that or the Southside Special which is what my other colleague ordered. It was scrambled eggs with avocado mash and torillas. It seemed like a small portion though. But it looked so yummy! I think it’s really cool that you can order brunch during the week as well. That’s a big plus! I believe my other colleague ordered the Kale Caesar salad. She seemed to enjoy it but I’m not a big fan of kale so I don’t think I’ll be ordering that in the future. My favorite part was the fresh donuts! Wow, they are INCREDIBLE! My first donut was an EPICFAIL though. It was raw dough inside! All the other donuts were cooked perfectly but the one I picked up was all gooey inside and NOT in a good way! Yikes! I picked up another one and it was HEAVEN!!! A couple of my colleagues ordered coffee drinks and they all seemed to enjoy them. Maybe next time I go I will only order coffee and donuts. Their chocolate chip cookies are also PHENOMENAL! A friend of mine told me they were the best in town and I must say I have to agree with her. IThat cookie was PERFECTION. OK, so maybe I’ll go for the coffee, donuts and cookies. :) Another thing I wanted to mention is their pricing or lack thereof. There aren’t any prices on the chalkboard so I never know how much an item costs. They may have menus but I’ve never seen one or been handed one by their staff. It’s pricy though. For instance, my niece and I went there and ordered the following: 2 mint lemonades, 2 orders of donuts(1 to go), the Southside Special and 2 cookies. It was $ 45! That was an expensive breakfast!

Absolutely love this place! I went for brunch and was completely enthralled. We originally tried to go to Tiny Boxwood’s, but the line was crazy long so we headed to Tinys instead and there was no wait at all, so I definitely think it’s a hidden gem. The food was incredible. The thought of a kale lemonade would never have appealed to me, but my grandma got herself some and I tried it, and I was amazed by how good it was. They also have complimentary coffee, which is great. I got the breakfast migas — basically breakfast tacos with egg whites, cheese, and avocado. They were so tasty and fresh, and I’d totally get them again. I also loved the atmosphere; it’s very open and full of natural light so it feels nice but comfortable, a little beach house-ish. They also have really pretty patio seating when it’s not too hot outside. Overall, would absolutely recommend. The menu doesn’t have prices but I think it ended up being around $ 15 per meal, which is definitely steep, but in my opinion pretty worth it if you want a classier brunch.

Well… I have mixed feelings. I would give 5 stars for charm and cute factor of restaurant. I absolutely loved sitting on the patio. The grounds are BEAUTIFUL. The cocktails were great! I will definitely come back for the cocktails, girlfriend time, and the scenery. However, my food wasn’t that great. I had the turkey burger and sweet potato fries. The fries were delicious, but the turkey burger was over cooked and just not tasty. I will go back and maybe try a salad or a basic breakfast menu item. Something that’s hard to mess up.

Came in for brunch on a gorgeous Sunday morning. We wanted to find a place to sit on the patio and enjoy the beautiful weather. This place hit the spot. The line was starting to add up so my girlfriend decided she would save us a table while I ordered and then she in turn would get in line to order her meal. I had just ordered my meal as she approached me and said that they wouldn’t let her save the table since the line was getting busy and they wanted to seat us as we exit the line. Ok, so I was done ordering my meal so we were able to keep our table. I have been here now 3 times and that was the first time I have ever heard of this nonsense. Seriously you make my friend get up from the table and tell her she cannot sit there? Ridiculousness. So, this seating order went on for maybe 20 minutes. I saw the girl tell another customer the same thing as she approached an outdoor table with her pet. While several tables were open and available. The line was still out of the door and many tables were vacant. I noticed the annoying girl hassling people finally had stopped. There was totally no method to that madness! As for the food. I had the Turkey club and a mint lemonade. The sandwhich was tasty and my bevy was as well. But, for a sandwich and a lemonade my bill was 18 bucks. So you are paying a nice penny to dine in this snotty establishment. That was my 3rd and final stop here. I’ll find another place to brunch that does not embarrassed my guest.

3.5 stars! But since we don’t do halfies here, unfortunately I’m going to have to round down. I absolutely never heard of this place before my friend invited me out to do brunch here. Considering that I always welcome trying new a new place out, of course I’m down to try this place. When I was looking for this place, I failed to see a sign that says«Tiny’s No 5.» However, since Google maps told me I was there, I just parked and walked to find the restaurant. Upon entering, there was immediately a line to order with the menu written on the wall next to the right of the entrance. Seriously?! Not in the front? Or a hand menu a la Chacho’s? I mean, I understand that it’s cool. But people in line were blocking the menu. And as the line moved, it was getting harder for me to look at the menu as well. And oh, the rule of the place is to order first before finding a table. You can also sit at the bar and get full service. When it came my turn to order, I asked the cashier«what are you known for?» and she immediately told me that the pancakes and bacon is their most popular items. It comes with blueberry pancakes and two slices of bacon. But she also told me that they would be able to do regular pancakes as well. But come on, now. I love blueberry pancakes, why would I want regular pancakes? So I got that with a glass of OJ and a chocolate chip cookie. This, my friends, cost me $ 20 and chance. Add tip to that, I spent $ 23. Pretty pricey for some pancakes, but I had high hopes. After a while, my pancakes and bacon came out. Short stack(three pancakes) with two crispy bacon. The butter that came with the pancakes pretty much melted on the top pancake and the amount of syrup was very little. However, I was able to ask for extra because if you eat like me, the butter and syrup that came with the pancakes wouldn’t be enough. Looking at the pancakes, however, I was a little bit disappointed. I didn’t see enough blueberries in the pancake to call it blueberry pancakes. But I reserved my judgment until after I’ve tasted it. But yeah, I was right. The pancakes, to me, were just regular pancakes with little bits of blueberries. Compared to blueberry pancakes that I would get from a cracker barrel? These pancakes got nothing on them. FORREAL! And when you go to Cracker Barrel, I wouldn’t be paying $ 20 for the same food that I got at Tiny’s. I do, however, loved the bacon. The two strips of bacon were done right. Cripsy, non greasy, and tasty. The best thing about the whole experience, however, was the ambiance of the restaurant; and the chocolate chip cookie. Seeing how their cookies are highly recommended by other reviewers, I had really high expectations. Especially considering that I can bake some really good chocolate chip cookies. However, Tiny’s didn’t disappoint with that. Especially since I got the chance to a fresh out the over cookie with the chips were still melting and the cookie crumbling. Definitely a must try. Would I be back? For socializing purpose, yes. But if I had to choose, I’d rather have brunch somewhere else that’s cheaper and better tasting. Your mileage may vary.

Tiny’s No 5 is located in the West University area, on Rice street, not Rice Village. I came to meet a friend for brunch on a Saturday at 10 am. They had a car show going on that morning that was just wrapping up when I parked. Plenty of parking in the area, located in a residential area. The weather was cooler that day so not many people sitting outside, although they had lots of chairs and tables along the courtyard. Service at brunch is counter service. I think later in the day its full service. My food came out in about 15 mins. I got the migas with no sausage and a julia sunrise, and of course a chocolate chip cookie. The migas was fresh and the tomatillo sauce had excellent flavor. The portion size was decent, I was full but didnt have leftovers. The prices here are a bit high, but you come here more for the experience, not a cheap brunch. The julia sunrise was so delicious. It was orange juice with cranberry juice, ice and honey. Highly recommend this! The chocolate chip cookies in my opinion were a bit undercooked. But overall good. The restaurant itself is very bright, and welcoming. Good atmosphere to hang out and catch up with friends. All the staff I encountered were very nice and pleasant. They also have a private dinning area in the back which was setup for a wedding shower and look very cute!

Same concept as Tiny Boxwood — It’s definitely not as beautiful as Tiny Boxwood(just a flat grass outdoor patio with limited seating), and the prices are about the same. The food won’t satisfy you and the mystery prices will puzzle you after your meal. Are migas(eggs with sausage, potatoes, cheese, and salsa) really worth 15 bucks? Maybe if they somehow managed to make it zero calories! Stick to Tiny Boxwood fosho if you want a better atmosphere/scenery!

I definitely prefer Tiny Boxwoods over Tiny’s No. 5, but it’s still worth a try if you are curious. It’s definitely less crowded and there’s a bigger parking lot. Food-wise, Boxwoods is waaaaaaay better. Ambiance is pretty similar. I’ve gotten one of the chicken pesto sandwiches or turkey clubs(can’t remember), and it was good. It comes with your choice of side: fruit, orzo pasta, or fries. The West U Special is pretty disappointing. Okay, maybe it’s my fault for ordering a plain-Jane breakfast item where I could have made it myself, but they could have done it better like Mother’s Breakfast at Boxwoods. The drinks are the same at both locations(orange Julia, honey grapefruit, kale lemonade, etc), except no bottomless mimosas here. Boo, that was the best part! So if you’re really struggling with Boxwoods vs. No.5, I’d pick Boxwoods in a heartbeat.

I really enjoyed my brunch at Tiny’s No. 5. I ordered the cobb salad, and they gave a lot of each of the core ingredients. I would’ve personally preferred the lettuce being chopped up as part of the salad, though, cause it made it a bit difficult to eat. My friend got an egg dish that I cannot recall, but he enjoyed it and it looked good! The total for these 2 plus a lime lemonade was over $ 30, so it was a bit steep for no table service. The service was good though, and the server was happy to bring us the utensils that were inside. Also, my friend wanted me to try a cookie at the end of our meal, but they didn’t have any single cookies left. They, instead, offered us a whole box that someone hadn’t picked up, and they gave it to us for free and wished us a Merry Christmas! I was really impressed by this.

Tiny’s No 5 is an upscale trendy little restaurant located in the West University area. A sister location to Tiny Boxwood’s, this place has a similar posh décor and feel. Attire is casual-chic. I love the layout of the restaurant, it’s open, inviting and logical, the staff here are well informed about the menu items and very courteous/professional. Whether you’re trying to meet up for brunch or want to impress a hot new date this place won’t disappoint. Everything I’ve had from the menus has be pretty good but food portions are smaller and can be pricy. Save room for the chocolate chip cookies here… they’re gooey gushing w flavor and just cooked to soft perfection… I actually prefer the salted Carmel brownie myself… its sinfully delicious.
