Eh… Tosh’s Ramen and Kobe is much better. Bigger bowls would be nice. They service smaller ramen bowls. I felt like I didn’t get enough. Service lacked probably because of this day but we went on after the lunch rush. People are nice so I give them that. Price is reasonable and atmosphere is nice. Location tough to get parking on busy days since it is located in Mexican shopping center. A lot of people shop in the area on Saturdays.

This place has great vibe for young people. Delicious food for a good price. One minor complaint is that the tuna was a little dry and bland in the poke bowl. I will definitely come back.

Extremely disappointed in this last visit. Waitress didn’t even say a word, not even a greet. I ordered tonkotsu with naruto maki. It came out without naruto maki. But I couldn’t tell my Waitress since she was no where in sight. Not once were we checked on. I’m glad I didn’t wait and just ate my ramen anyway. I noticed that my ramen had 2 eggs instead of 1. The inside of the egg was rather cold, very weird and unexpected when you’re trying to eat a hot soup. Whatever, it’s in there right? I gotta hurry to work! The ramen was barely warm, like it had been sitting for a while or something. It was decent but would’ve been much better hotter. Halfway through my bowl, the waitress sat down and did nothing. She still hadn’t checked on us. Time to pay, I realized that the waitress added an extra egg to my ramen instead of naruto maki which was what I asked for. The ramen is decent here but it doesn’t make up for the lack of horrible service. I’ll come back but not on my own will.

I just love this hip little Ramen shop. The service is friendly and fast. Having been to many ramen houses around the country, I am glad to see a good ramen house here in SLC. The tonkatsu ramen is flavorful and rich. It lacks a little bit of the creaminess of a truly traditional tonkatsu ramen, however it is good. And the best I have had in Utah. The noodles were good, tasty and perfectly cooked. They didn’t quite have chewiness of a handmade noodle, again — nothing bad just not that little bit extra. That said, my toppings were all on point, right down to the soft boiled marinated egg. For starters do not miss the fried chicken wings. They were awesome. Crispy with a fantastic sweet teriyaki sauce. The Takoyaki was also excellent. Filled with tender octopus, perfectly spiced, and cooked to fluffy perfection. All in all. A lovely Ramen shop and one we plan to revisit again and again!

FINALLY — a ramen joint that doesn’t require me to drive downtown! I’ve been here twice now, and each time the service is friendly and quick. You walk in, promptly greeted and seated(booth all the way), order your food, anddd. wait. that’s the only painful part I think. One must clench your stomach, grunt away the hunger pains, and begrudgingly talk to those you came with. Sigh. I don’t want to talk to you, I just want to eat! Quality of the food(I’ve had ramen, rice bowls with tonkatsu, etc.) are overall nicely made. You may need to get an extra bowl of soup if you get ramen with extra noodles(thanks for hooking it up, mysterious waiter fellow who I only saw once!). Other than that, no complaints! Just don’t shut down and leave me Tonkatsu! You’re my only hope.(see cheesy Star Wars line). See you again when the cravings hit!

Solid 3 stars: Tonkotsu Ramen — $ 9.95 Pork belly chashu was tender and flavorful. The broth was good but definitely lacked any real creaminess or deep flavors. Torikatsu(Chicken) Katsu Curry Rice Bowl– $ 9.95 Fried panko breaded chicken that was perfect stab your tongue feeling. Served with a bland Japanese curry sauce(desperately needed salt) with very minuscule amount of carrots, potato. Served with miso soup and steamed rice of not the greatest quality. Takoyaki(Octopus Balls) — $ 5.95 Ball-shaped appetizer of wheat-flour batter with pieces of boiled octopus and topped with pickled ginger, which I loved. The Japanese wasabi aioli which gave it a generic sushi roll flavor. It was very crab cake like. Not real crispy and very doughy. Atmosphere is dark and cold. Single set of doors right next to the tables made for some frigid moments. Some of the tables are a little too close for comfort. The service was sweet but awkward.

Tonkotsu Ramen was very delicious, service was great too. Pork ribs melted in my mouth and had a great sauce to boot. Vegas roll was okay, didn’t care too much for the cucumber salad. So in love with the wooden spoons they have on the tables. Love the condiments they serve with the Ramen. We shall return again and again.

Came here because I always drive passed it and also I had a couple of friends that told me about this place. Let me tell you that the experience here isn’t really like your typical ramen place experience. He décor of this place was wonderful. I love how it was well lit and the lights was hanging down. Let’s move onto to their ramen dish. I ordered the tonkotsu ramen with extra chasue shoulder. When it arrives the bowl was smaller than your average size huge bowl you get. I realize that the egg it came with was a whole egg, only problem here, the egg wasn’t cut in half. So presentation wise wasn’t that good, esp when they have a video playing on the tv with authentic ramen being made and presented, the egg was always cut in half. Taste wise the broth was very flavorful… I also felt that they added a tad bit too much sesame oil, but I like that flavor so it is fine with me. The chasue was pretty think and practically melting in my mouth and in the bowl. My friend ordered the tonkotsu rice curry bowl. She first complained to me that it has very strong goner taste and when I looked they garnished with the pink ginger. I was super surprised about that and she had to pick out the ginger to actually start tasting the curry. Btw the rice was a bit on the raw hard side. We also ordered a spider roll. Let me tell you that this isn’t your typical spider roll. The sushi rice being used isn’t sushi rice. It was hard and looked like it was blended in a blender before rolling. The rice was definitely undercooked and there wasn’t any avocado in it like stated in the description. We even pulled one roll apart to inspect it. Their rolls are really a bust here. Not worth the money spent on it. All in all… service wise was pretty good. Food wise we had some problems. I would probably think again about coming here and would advise other about it too. There are other ramen places that are really good like tosh.

Disappointment! I was deeply saddened after our second visit. During our first visit, the chef sat next to us and told us they are going for Las Vegas and California’s quality ramen. We were stoked about the improvement but everything went backforward. Positive first. The thing I like about this place is the egg in the ramen. They actually marinade their eggs which gave it a great flavor! Guess what! No other ramen shop in Utah does that! Of course, the running yolk oozing out the egg perfectly. Absolutely scrumptious! I ordered the tonkotsu ramen twice with regular ramen noodles because I want to see if there was any improvement. The broth was not watery as before but still lacking on flavor. Also I still like Kobe’s better because their broth is more creamy and the noodles has nice elasticity to it. Ok, moving onto the problems. Takoyaki balls tasted exact same as the one from Ocean Mart. Very doughy and it didn’t has much octopus taste. My husband’s curry ramen was more watery than the first time. I remembered during our first visit, Chef told us a white lady complaint the curry was too strong so they toned it down a bit. However I didn’t expect they toned it down more than the first time. Alright, the classic Shuyo ramen. You can’t go wrong with the classic. Wrong! Natalie C and Julie V waited for their ramen for a longtime and finally received their dishes after everyone was done. I could never forget the reaction of their faces after the first bite. It was way too salty and they barely touched their ramen. Overalls, Tonkotsu is still the best in West Valley City. But me… I am sorry Kobe. I cheated on you. I missed your ramen and I should stay with you.

It’s nice to have another decent ramen option in the valley let alone in an area without ramen. They give you a taste of what really good authentic ramen can be. They started off strong but a few weeks later I have noticed it wasn’t as good as it was but they’re still within their first month so I’m hoping it’s just a temporary issue. This place has lots of potential to be on the level of ramen places found in bigger cities like San Francisco and Las Vegas. Wings are an awesome appetizer to get. Taku balls are hit and miss. They do run their curry ramen a bit on the watery side but if that’s your thing, you’ll be happy.

There’s a new ramen place in town, and it’s right in West Valley City where Asian restaurants are abundant. Tonkotsu definitely stands out among the masses though. I really liked the Japanese wave painting on the wall and the hanging lights make this place pretty trendy. The octopus balls were unlike anything I’ve tried before. Lightly fried, so the outside had a crispness to it, but the inside was chewy and soft. I liked them. When it came to the ramen, I was a little put off that my friend received hers 15 minutes before I got mine. The owner realized this and offered complimentary mochi ice cream to make up for it. My Tonkotsu ramen was very flavorful. I loved that they aren’t skimpy with the toppings either. The pork was a generous portion and everything tasted great. I hope they add a spicy version to the menu soon. I’ll definitely be back for more!
