Great bar to have within walking distance of my house. They always play the Pens games and the prices are reasonable. They have multiple High Def TV’s. The food quality and service is great. I wish they had a pool table. Since I am a non-smoker and the place is smokey I reduced the rating by a star.

With the exception of Giant Eagle, West View has a serious lack of 6-pack shops. When I’m feeling desperate for some Bud Heavy pounders I’ll stop into the Highland Bar. Getting a to-go 6 pack is the only reason I’ll enter this dive. It’s so unbelievably smokey that after being inside just long enough to complete your transaction your clothes, hair, and inevitably your car smell like you’re a seasoned chain smoker. It seems like their drink prices and food specials are very cheap, however, the thought of eating anything in here almost sends me over the edge.

Hmm, what can I say about this place? My friend lives nearby and we were half-jokingly looking for a place to end the night when we came across The Highlands Bars. For some reason, smoking is still allowed inside(which really only adds to its«charm»). They have great prices on beer(I think Yuengling drafts were $ 2.50) and the clientele is well, interesting. The crowd was rather boisterous when we were there, but friendly and no one bothered us even though we weren’t «regulars.» At some point, there was karaōke(Redneck Woman) going on and lots of «hollering» across the bar, but I seriously had a blast. It’s one of those old u-shaped bars with red-tufted vinyl stools and a pretty«old school» vibe. We looked at their list of daily specials at the front(including wing night, and $ 1 beer night), so it seems like a great place to just throw back and enjoy yourself(if you don’t mind the smoke). There’s absolutely nothing upscale or remotely urbane about this place, so go looking forward to some more casual fun and you’ll have a blast.
