Let me start with, I love this store but I think I will stay away from this SnS for a while. Last week I was there and all the groceries were fine, but as I was unpacking a bug came out of the bag. Looked like a small beetle of some kind. I tried to catch it and it ran like a cockroach and got away from me. I just saw this bug again and it had grown and was a German cockroach. 20 or 30 years ago I lived in a place that had cockroaches so I was ready with some spray so I hope I got the thing. Any place can have roaches because they can live a month on the grease of one fingerprint, they eat everything so a grocery store would be heaven. It might have come in the paper bag but I’m just squeamish now.

I have very mixed feelings about this place. Usually it is a great place to shop and has awesome deals. I went earlier today though, and when I tried to use coupons that were valid, manufacturer’s coupons the cashier had no idea what to do. Granted, she looked like she was a week from death so she may have just forgot, but she went and asked the office what to do, and they told her she had to put them in manually. When I asked about them doubling she said they couldn’t because they were not, as she put it «our coupons». Umm… what??? No manufacturer coupons are«your coupons».

The older I get, the more I like the smaller independent grocery stores. Shop n Save is one of those stores. I often find myself there on my way home from work for essentials but also some amazing deals. They have great customer service and specials to keep up with the larger chains. For example, their 5 fo $ 19.99 deal. Selected meat and frozen items, mostly well over the $ 4 mark individually, can be mixed and matched and as long as you buy 5, the cost collectively is $ 19.99. It usually means I get at least one of the items for free. The selection changes daily but I’ve purchased steaks, burgers, ground meat and any number of frozen items(pizza, fries, burritos) to stock up cheaply. They also have special two day deals on Thursdays and Fridays that are often unbeatable. And let’s not forget Wacky Wednesdays! They may not have the longer hours or wide selection on specialty food items that the larger stores do, but they more than make up for it with their hometown feel.
