Food was good, slowly went down hill late last year. Owner were very friendly… Wish they could have turned things around and succeeded.

I am beyond disappointed with the owners service. We have loyally ordered from Cheng’s since the changeover. No longer. 1 hour and 30 minute delivery wait(and still waiting) for mediocre food. When called to understand delivery status– was hung up on… very busy with bad karaōke in the background. Not worth it. So disappointed.

We’ve been to Cheng’s quite a few times and really enjoy all aspects of this venue. Jenny is a breath of fresh air. Always a smile and cheerfully welcoming us. Each time we order our dinner is deliciously fresh and tasty. It is always a pleasant, refreshing visit.

I would give this place zero stars if I could. We went there on a Thursday night and were one of two parties there. The food took forever to come out, and out of our three dishes, the duck was burned and dry left-over skin pieces that we suspect came off some other customer’s leftovers, the tofu dish had cold silken Tofu dumped into sauce and not even heated up. My fried rice was good, but since the other food was disgusting, I couldn’t really enjoy mine. When the hostess came to inquire how we liked our food, she couldn’t care less that the other two dishes were left almost untouched, and we were charged for everything regardless. Lesson learned. Bad service, horrible food, and over-priced for what it was. We will never go back. I don’t understand how this place has 3.5 stars here. I finally just signed up on Unilocal so I could warn other potential customers. By the way, the place smells really bad.

Spicy chicken wings, crab Rangoon & the Singapore chow mei fun are my staples when we come here. Very diverse menu so there is always something new to try. Prices are very reasonable and they deliver. I’ve always found that you can’t get good Chinese food delivered until we found Cheng’s! Always a good time.

I was really pleased with the food here. It was very good, portions and prices are very reasonable too. I’m also very picky when it comes to fried rice but I love theirs. I think it’s awesome they deliver since most Chinese places don’t for some reason.

I’ve ordered takeout here 3 times and I’ve been well pleased. Today they delivered and a very pleasant lady arrived with our food in a timely manner. Chicken w/vegetables, chicken wings, fried rice, Crab Rangoon… all good. I don’t recommend the pad Thai though. It was the only thing that just didn’t cut it. But then they aren’t a Thai restaurant. Also, the scallion pancakes while the flavor was good, weren’t pancakes at all. It was stuffed pita bread. Never had them before so not sure if that’s correct. But Pancakes are not pita bread in my book. The staff has always been very warm and friendly. I will definitely continue to order from this restaurant.

It’s so sad that I’m writing a two-star review for Cheng’s, because for many years, this was *the* go-to place for delivery Chinese food for our family. The offerings were plentiful, reasonable in price, delicious and hot upon arrival — and the arrival time was always under twenty minutes. No longer. Ever since the most recent change of ownership, Cheng’s delivery has become slower and slower, the food has become more and more bland, tasteless, and flavorless, and this past time, we had enough. Food took over an hour to arrive, much of it was cold, it tasted bland and unpalatable, the dumplings were open, the scallion pancakes were burnt AND soggy, and we were all very nervous to eat the leftovers, so ended up chucking the lot. Super disappointing.

Just got take out. I ordered the Pad Thai and it was very good(hard to find decent Pad Thai). My wife had the chicken Singapore noodle and the portion was large, she loved it. My son got the General Tso’s chicken and it was very good, not too rich with the sauce(The rice is not the best but it’s decent, just a little scanty on the pork), Egg roll was excellent. I would recommend this place as being in the top 5 American styled Chinese restaurants in the area(Cranston — Warwick).

Since moving to Coventry 5 years ago, my husband and I had yet to find a decent chinese restaurant in the area. We were pleasently surprised when we ordered takeout from here. Delicious, fresh and very friendly staff! My favorite is the boneless spare ribs, general taos chicken & fried rice. ALWAYSFRESH!

Mediocre. Fried rice was a little bland and boneless spareribs were a bit chewy/fatty. Crab Rangoons were decent though.

I think Cheng needs some gourmet lessons. My mom and I went there for dinner. she ordered the Wonton soup, she liked it. Then while she was still eating the soup my general tso’s chicken came out. I asked for extra spicy, i think they just dumped extra goopy sauce on it. The sauce was overly sugary sweet — no really spicy and if it was, the syrupy sauce overwhelmed the heat. the chicken was all white meat and the batter wasn’t too thick. the egg roll that came with it was cold — i can’t say what it tasted like because biting into a cold egg roll is not the most pleasant thing. i was 80% done with my meal when my mom’s moo goo gai pan came. her egg roll was cold too. she thought the fried rice was dry, i took it as not too greasy. she liked her moo goo gai pan — well she thought it was so so. i don’t see any reason to rush back

My family would order from Little Chopsticks II(the popular restaurant that used to be here) all the time, including every Christmas Eve. This past year was the first time without Little Chopsticks and we had seen negative reviews of this restaurant on old Little Chopsticks II review pages. For that reason we ordered from a different restaurant and were very unhappy, we then tried a second restaurant with the same result. Finally I suggested that we at least give the«new» Chengs Gourmet a chance and make our own decision. We ordered Chicken, Shrimp, and Vegetable Lo Mein. Chicken and Vegetable Moo Shu. The women who took our order on the phone was very friendly and easy to talk too. When I arrived at the location the food was ready and I noticed the restaurant looks exactly the same as when it was a Little Chopsticks so I do not know what renovations were done. The portions were huge and the taste was right on. The Lo Mein did need to be stirred as all of the sauce was at the bottom, but once that was done all of the noodles were well coated and tasty. The Moo Shu was OK, it had a lot of taste but wasn’t really my taste. Definitely worth a return trip.

We waited for about an hour to get our take out(we ordered two chicken dishes). There were people waiting even longer — one man came in with a cane and he had ordered about four hours before and said he would pick up at a certain time — they did not have his order ready. We had our four year old with us and finally we had to say either give us our order or a refund. Suddenly our order came up. We got home — opened the containers(everything was well packed in the bag) and we dug in – very hungry at this point. I have to say the food was not very good. It was just covered in sauce and had very little flavor. We ate it but we didn’t find it very good at all. We will not be returning.

I happened recently to be in the shopping center where Cheng’s is located and was surprised to see that Little Chopsticks was no longer there, and that Cheng’s was in its place. Craving Chinese food, my hubby and I decided to give it a try about a week or so ago. We were very pleasantly surprised to see how bright and cheery the newly renovated restaurant had become. The wait staff could not have been friendlier or more responsive. The food was mostly Cantonese, with a little bit of Seczhwan and a bit of Hunan thrown in for good measure. I personally prefer a little more Asian Fusion, but was still happy with what the menu offered. The food was bright and fresh and colorful. We shared some very tasty dumplings, and we each had soup — I had wonton soup and my husband had the hot and sour. My soup was delicious and he said his was just«OK.» I had a typical Cantonese dish — Chicken Chow Mein — and it was utterly delicious. A HUGE portion of Chow Mein was served on the old fashioned pedastal dish, enough for about three persons, and it was accompanied by rice — I chose brown which I prefer. My husband had a Seczhwan beef dish which, again, he thought was just OK.(it takes a lot to make him swoon!) Actually he thought it was too sweet. I had some and loved it, and did not find it too sweet at all — but JUSTRIGHT! His dish was not accompanied by rice so he ordered some separately. The portions of rice served to us were enough for two persons and we could have shared. Some nice fortune cookies and a pot of tea served as our dessert. I know I will be going back(most likely for lunch with friends) to Cheng’s Gourmet. My husband prefers Lemon Grass(Post Road in Warwick), as admittedly, do I. But Cheng’s is a bit closer to our home, and somewhat less expensive, so I can’t wait to go back for more delicious and really fresh Chinese food.

I have been living in East Greenwich Rhode Island about 3 years and had not yet found, a good Chinese Restaurant. It was a pleasant surprise to discover Cheng’s Gourmet in the location of the former Little Chopsticks. While the menu offers the more Classical Chinese dishes, as opposed to more creative, my entrée was cooked perfectly with ample fresh vegetables and meats. The sauce was in just the right proportion in terms of seasoning and amount. The décor is plain but the waitstaff was friendly and anxious to please. I am looking forward to returning many more times to sample other menu items.
