Please! Read the outstanding reviews. Entered the restaurant and it was packed. As you might imagine, we had very high expectations. All I can say is; save your time and money. The food sucked. It had no taste and was over cooked. On a positive note, the popcorn was great.

Great local spot! Scallops were amazing and I’ve never had a lobster roll with that much lobster in it! Service was quick and very pleasant atmosphere for lunch! Would definitely be back!

Had lunch today with my partner, friend and family. We were promptly seated at a booth and added a table for extra elbow room. I ordered the baked scallops with seasoned potatoes & onions, side salad, coleslaw, cooked squash and a roll. This was a lot of food for $ 14.99. Scallops(about 14 pieces) were lightly breaded and baked until tender. Overall the dish was good, but the scallops would have been better if they were slightly broiled and browned on the edges. We also had a lobster roll and fried clam roll, both were plentiful and tasty.

We visit JP’S everytime were in Marlborough for the Lobster Roll. What a great sandwich, a must if ur visiting and if your a local your fortunate to have such a great friendly local pub to dine. We like it so much we came back for dinner, had the special — sirloin steak w/bake potatoes and butternut squash — very good. We sat at the bar and received great service.

This looks like a complete hole in the wall bar from the outside. When you walk in… it is still a hole in the wall. It is a hole in the wall with every local you can imagine. It is warm. It is cozy. It feels sort of like home. The manager and staff are so nice it hurts. The food portions are large and cheap and every time you eat here it sort of feels like Christmas dinner. I just moved here from out of town and my husband and I have been here several times already — even when we were just scoping out the area. This place was recommended to us by word of mouth and our friends weren’t wrong. This place is cash only but it keeps things pretty cheap in my opinion. I just really love how I feel when I come here. It’s not old, bearded men getting wasted and screaming at the TV. –FAMILIES– come here. Older folks eat here who look like they come every week for dinner. It’s actually kind of adorable. I really do love this place. I can’t wait to become another local. :)

Bar review only. We’ve been told to come here by the locals here. You definitely get the cozy local vibe. Our bar tender made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Not many meatless items, but the mozzarella sticks were phenomenal! The marinara must be made in house. Tab was cheap. We were appreciated by the staff for coming in. We will definitely be back!

Great experience yesterday at jps pub. Took my 6 year old boy on a date. The owner heard my son say he wants grilled cheese for lunch, grilled cheese is not on the menu. I ordered him a bowl of chowder, owner came over and said, didn’t your son want grilled cheese, i said yes. Well out came grilled cheese. My son was happy. It’s listening skills like this on a very busy Friday afternoon that is appreciated. Bottom line: great customer service, good food, good price! Oh! Did I say that they were respectful to my son that has down syndrome. Well they were! Thank you!

We were promptly seated upon our arrival. The booth was cosy. We could watch a huge TV screen playing sport. A complimentary bowl of pop corn was offered for the table. We ordered a lobster roll with coleslaw and another one with French fries. Both lobster rolls were served with a generous size portion of fresh meat. Nevertheless, it tasted bland. We preferred the lobster rolls at ‘Ed lobster’s bar’ in New York City. The coleslaw was fresh and with the right light amount of mayonnaise. The French fries and pickles were average. This place was cash only. An ATM was available at the back of the restaurant. It was easy to park on their parking lot.

Can’t beat JP’s lobster roll, best I’ve ever had and reasonably priced. Other items on the menu are good as well.

What is really good here is the combination of good food, large portions, and decent prices. The lobster roll is huge and full of meat.

3.533 Stars JP’s is unpretentious, if it was in Allston, hipsters would be all over it. Out here in Central Ma, the clientele are families and stalwart local regulars. The food is comfort food, good comfort food in my opinion with a German cuisine echo from it’s former incarnation. This leads me to one of my favorites the German Fries. The dish is a warm potato salad that you see in German places from coast to coast. The flavor is rich and it’s quite filling any potato lover will enjoy this dish. The bar is long and runs along the right side of the room. There are very nice booths and several 2 person tables. There is an open barrier between the bar and the back portion of the dining room. The have a decent tap selection including Wachusett(local), Stella, Yuengling and Harpoon. The wine by the glass is extensive and fairly priced. For lunch you can’t beat the sandwich menu. My favorites are the(in order) the legendary lobster roll, 8 .oz burger, fish sandwich, steak sandwich, and the Buffalo chicken sandwich. The fried seafood menu is quite good, try the German fries with your fried scallops(haddock, shrimp, clams). There is also a Clam/Scallop roll. They have a classic Italian sub-menu: Spaghetti(meatballs/sausage), Chicken parm and Veal parm. * parking lot. * I have had friendly service, and the food came out quickly. * The Buffalo wings are actually tenders, a crowd favorite. * clam chowder on Fridays. * cash only.

Great local place! Steak was tasty, hubby liked his lobster roll, coleslaw had a wonderful fresh taste. Price was reasonable for the quality. We aren’t local but it seemed that several guests knew each other so had the ‘local hangout’ feel to it. A nice experience all around!

Come on folks, this is a good bar wrapped around a bad restaurant. It’s a divey townie pub filled with fat people banging down bland lobster rolls and potato skins. You can do better almost anywhere in the area’s many other great pubs.

Pub food, cash only. Had the Lobster Roll. Very good as this was the first one that I have had. Off the beaten path.

Cash only! The food is pretty good. Seeing the lobster roll in pictures, I am definitely upset that I didn’t get that! I guess I’ll have to go back. Reasonably priced, lots of food, but at the same time you get what you pay for.

So now I know where Westborough’s hard drinking older crowd hangs out. I’ve never seen so many straight vodkas and straight gins ordered in 20 minutes. Actually I’ve never seen anyone order straight gin before. Anyway, JP’s has friendly bartenders, cheap drinks, and cheap food. Don’t expect anything gourmet.

I can’t believe how popular this restaurant is. I’ve never seen a strip mall pub be standing room only on a Tuesday night. The food is fantastic and the service was fast and friendly. I usually shy away from restaurants that insist on cash only, but I’ll make an exception for JP’s. I ordered the lobster roll and the fish and chips. Both were generously filled with high quality meat. When I asked for malt vinegar in a to go cup, the bartender actually found a partially empty bottle to take with me. Did I mention the service? After driving all day and stopping in what I thought would be a vanilla suburb, JP’s provided a great meal stop and really made my day.

The lobster roll is really really good and they have the best name in the world(all JPs in the world, unite!). From the outside(parking lot of a shopping mall) you’d never believe you’d find such a positive vibe inside. This place is really good. Make sure you take cash with you. They do not accept credit cards. They do have an ATM machine inside but no one loves paying fees.

IMPORTANTNOTE: CASHONLY! I was in town for a business trip and had a night to myself, and I found myself at JPs. This is the quintessential neighborhood spot. Everyone knows everyone. I was clearly out of place as an outsider. I sat at the bar and the bartender was friendly to me. I’m not a big lobster roll person(and more importantly, I’m on a diet) so I tried to find an healthier option on the menu and ended up with baked haddock. The menu promised they always use fresh haddock, and while I can’t be certain, the fish tasted great. The meal included a baked potato(butter in pre-packaged cup on the side), broccoli(covered in a neon orange cheese, which wasn’t indicated on the menu… pass), and a house salad which I told them not to bring out since I knew I would just pick at it. The best thing on the plate was the haddock by far. I also enjoyed a beer and was glad to see a couple of selections on tap. Things I didn’t like included: — The place felt dirty. They had popcorn(I’m assuming free, for bar patrons or kids?) and popcorn was scattered all over the dark carpeting. — There were a couple of flies in the restaurant, which didn’t bother me until I was fighting with them to eat my food. — Cash-only. I’m not sure how I missed this in all the other reviews that mentioned this, but I was really sweating when I started reading the reviews more closely but after I had already ordered. Luckily I had enough cash to pay. Why they do this, I don’t know, but if it’s the fees I’m sure the increase in business they would get would pay for the fees they would incur easily. Two other groups that traveled in to the city mentioned wanting to try JP’s but once they found out it was cash-only, went somewhere else. This is a great place for seasoned locals, but not one I would recommend to visitors(yes, even those of you who want to be like the locals when you travel).
