A local hole-in-the-wall Hispanic eatery. It stopped being«Tony’s Sandwich Shop» years ago but still kept the name. This place caters to the Hispanic workers from the industrial area across the street. There are many garages, body shops, junkyards, warehouses, etc. in the area(even a live chicken coop!). So this place has to be fairly authentic and good to stay in business for so long. Because of their regular clientele it’s a no frills, small place with tables. Yes, a little dingy. But if you want authentic, eat where the locals go.

This place is a hole in the wall. Very tiny and unnoticeable. The prices are cheap tho and the food is decent. You won’t really be rushing to come back. I don’t even know how they stay open lol.

This place wasn’t really what I thought it would be. I have driven past it hundreds of times. It has been there for quite some time. Finally decided to check it out. Was craving a hero/grinder and I was expecting something along the lines of what you would find in south jersey or philadelphia. Well this place has nothing to do with a true sandwich shop at all. They sell a few sandwiches sure but this place is a latin restaurant. You can get tamale’s, tacos, and a ton of other traditional Ecuadorian cuisine. I was a bit miffed that this place wasn’t what I expected. So my review reflects this. They have average to below average food in general. There are better places to go in Queens and Brooklyn. I ordered chicken tamale’s and they were pretty bad. My GF got carne asada tacos. Those were actually ok but we have had better tacos from taco trucks in the city. That is not a knock on taco trucks btw, we have had some 5 star tacos from various places in NYC. The owners of this place should make some changes. Its a salvageable restaurant if they do a few things. First of all there is a sitting area in the back full of debris. They could toss or sell the lot of that junk. Its unsightly. Second they should change the name. Again if you have visited Philly or New Jersey you know what a «Hero Shop» is and this is just misleading as hell. Add a longer list of sandwiches to the lunch menu at least. Staff was friendly and attended to us if we needed anything. The prices are great too. Nice cheap meal. With that said I would not come back. Hopefully a real sandwich shop that isn’t a deli will show up in the westbury area.

Found this place while looking for a Cuban sandwich. The place is one of those spots that most people would drive right past. A good number of those people who don’t would walk right in and walk out. Shame, because the food here is really good. I stopped in around lunch time. Only other people in the place was four guys drinking coronas and a little girl doing her homework. The faded pictures above the counter and the all spanish menu are not really inviting. However, I will say, if you eating ethic and you want good food, you better be surrounded by the locals. I had a great meal of carne asada. The meat was perfectly cooked, was served with a nice portion of rice and beans, with plantains. The piece of queso fresco added on top was a nice touch. It was good. I’ll be back.
