Now called Tianna Marie’s…The food is fine but the new owner is gruff and not the friendliest shopkeeper(Borderline rude, like you’re bothering him). Greeted him more than once with no response. Although the woman(who is only there occasionally) is very pleasant I will NOT be going back.

This place use to be good. But the new owner is rude and the sandwiches are mediocre. If you want a really good sub go Starship Subs in Forest Park.

You know, I really want to like this place. You know, mom and pop shop and all. But I found the sandwiches expensive and not all that. I got a 12″ italian and the bread was a little tough, even with the dressing. Then I ordered the minestrone soup, because it smelled really good in the place, but when I got home and opened the container, all he gave me was broth. Are you kidding? Seriously, not one noodle. A bean fragment. And that was it. Oh yes, a couple of slices of carrot. Maybe because it was 4 o’clock and he was running low? I don’t know. But don’t charge me $ 4 for a small container of broth. Really disappointing. Also, I checked out the freezer for pizza dough that I heard was good, but it was wrapped in one single layer of pizza dough. It looked like I was looking at someone’s home freezer. No label or nothing. It did not give me any good vibes at all.

I used to shop Albano’s, must now be new owners Tianna Marie;s Drove from Downers Grove, Clerk rude and abrupt. Deli case half empty and unappealing. I won’t be shopping there again. L. Galanti

Good food, nice subs and a great grocery for authentic Italian fare. Check it out if you’re looking for a quick sub!

Stopped in for a sub one day after visiting my grandparents who live nearby. The place is easy to miss from the street, I almost blew past it and was even a little skeptical when I walked up to the door and eventually inside. Talk about a hole in the wall! The inside was kind of weird, it looked a bit out of place and not like a deli, though after I made my way to the counter I quickly seen it was just hiding back there! I placed an order for a 9″ Italian sub and a mini cannoli, it came out to about $ 9.50. The sub was very well put together and I would say probably above average compared to a typical Italian sub, which was surprising since I kind of «judged the book by the cover» when I was inside. Portion size was more than sufficient and the toppings all tasted fresh, coupled with a flavorful Italian dressing to top it all off. I got a mini-cannoli just to get a taste and it was the perfect sample for $ 1.25. Now, I’m no cannoli expert but this one was really tasty. I thought maybe the crust/outside was a little hard, but maybe they are supposed to be? I’m not sure… The guy on the inside wasn’t that talkative, but certainly wasn’t mean or impatient with me. Overall, a solid deli sandwich experience and furthermore a good cannoli too, both at a reasonable price. I was a little disappointed in the lack of other customers. Turning out sandwiches as good as I(and fellow Unilocalers) seemed to have had, one might think there would be more patrons around 5pm.

My sister told me about this place and I am glad she did. I probably come here every month or so. I love the nooch sandwich. Cannoli are awesome as well. A 12″ sandwich and 2 cannoli is like 16 $ and will serve 2.

Love this place. Lived in Westchester when it opened, and now live in AH. Every now and again, I make the hike to get a sandwich here. I am probably a public menace as I careen down 290 back home, but what the heck! :) Quality bread, meats and cheeses. Another reviewer said this was a good alternative to Subway or Jimmy Johns. PUHLEESE! Yes, they are more expensive than Subway or Jimmy Johns but the quality is not even in the same realm. Do yourself a favor and try their stuff. You will love it.

So good. Really, the best beef sandwiches. And pastries. I just wish they were open more. Or… maybe I don’t.

By far my favorite Deli around. Everything is always so fresh. Customer service is awesome, the gentleman that owns it is so friendly. It’s a small business do it makes it even better. They sell specialty groceries as well. And try there soup, it’s always to die for. Not a complaint ever and I visit frequently since working in the area!

Great sandwiches! My boyfriend took me here for lunch about a month again and I’ve been back three times since! I even ordered a 3 foot«Nooch» to bring along to the pumpkin farm with my family, and it was a hit! This place is a great alternative to Subway or Jimmy John’s any day!

Name is now Westchester Italian Deli & Catering. I won’t find myself here multiple times per week, but once every 1 – 2 months I suspect so. Why not more often? Because I spent $ 60 one Saturday when I went in to buy a sandwich!(My personal shopping downfall) Said sandwich was indeed delicious. I’m not a connoisseur of Italian meats and cheese, but if I were I would have been salivating at the menu. Instead I was a bit overwhelmed by all the possible sandwich combinations— not a real problem. Sandwich was YUMMY, Hefty but not unmanageable size. Nice thick, crusty bread. Fresh tomatoes. There was also a selection of about 10 different kinds of Italian pasties(chocolate bomb, canoli cake, canoli, lady finger cake). I was worried that perhaps they weren’t fresh— but they tasted pretty good. They were ~$ 3 each(which was part of my pocket downfall). They also have deli salads(artichoke salad, potato salad, olives)— olives were decent. What is neat is their selection of Italian groceries. Overpriced, but only for something in a strip mall in the ‘burbs. Also great frozen pastas and precooked meals(lasagna). I got a yummy thing at the register— a room temperature«pizza» it was my favorite of the lot, but randomly it was wet… counter cleaning juice? out-of-the-oven condensation? I ate it anyway: p Great for sandwiches. Good for sides and groceries. Just don’t be surprised when you get your total at the register :) I bet they are great for catering!

Best cannoli ever! The sub sandwiches and the minestrone soup are just as yummy. Fair prices, too, considering the big portions and good quality. I will definitely be a regular customer.

We recently had family in from out of town. Since you cannot find Italian Beef outside of this area, we picked up the beef by the pound. I got excellent heating instructions from the owner(with the great idea to put it in the slow cooker). The family loved it! I bought a jar of their own homemade gardiniere which they also loved so much that a bowl of it was served at every meal the entire week and we were back there before they left so they could purchase some to bring home.

Gee, thanks, Albano’s, for making it so that no other sandwich in the world can compare to yours! DELISH! From the bread to the meat, cheese and toppings, these subs are where it’s at. So long, subpar subs!

Update: 1÷28÷2012 — have gotten subs several times since my first review — ALWAYS excellent and I still stick by my quality ingredients comment. If a Fontano’s was nearby, I’d compare the two… but without one near me… Albano;s wins. Decided to try Albano’s for the first time today. Had the«Albano» sub(or what is called the«Italian» at the deli). It was excellent — ok, half of it was. I got the 9″ and had just half and that was enough. Someone mentioned that the prices seem high. I disagree for a small deli like this. And the quality seems very high. I also got their mild giardeniera and some green olive salad. The olives are excellent and the giardeniera is awesome. It’s made with olive oil and that makes it kick butt on versions that use soybean oil instead — something I consider sacrilegious. This will now be my Italian sub go-to place. Can’t wait to try their hot giardeniera.

This place is out of the way for us, but we are a new huge fan of it for homemade fresh Italian sausage. Highly recommend both the mild and the hot — you won’t be disappointed. It is small, and not like a traditional Italian grocery — -this place is a small, but true deli and the people who turned us onto it claimed it has the best sub sandwiches and best cannolis in the city or suburbs. Can’t wait to go back — -but beware. If I go on the day you do, and get there earlier, just might buy whatever sausage they have on hand. I recommend you call ahead.

Good god almighty! Was this place expensive! Just in the area visiting family and on a whim, checked this place out after passing by it a few times. From the inside, I couldn’t figure out if it was just deli or a fast food place. They had a sign boasting how good their cannolis were so being that my eyes were bigger than my stomach, I ordered 6 of them, which were $ 2.50 each mind you! Then, they also had sold Italian ice, so I ended up getting a large, size was about 8 oz., which came to $ 6!!! The lemon ice had a thick sherbet-like texture and was nothing like Italian ice. Didn’t like the fact that they sold Italian beef only by the pound(8.99 lb with a loaf of bread) and couldn’t get a hot sandwich, which I found odd. The damage came to about $ 22 for all that. With that said, their cannolis were delicious and extremely fresh. They are made to order so be prepared to wait a few minutes while they get filled. The filling was ever so smooth and creamy while the shell was hard and crunchy. Also, the guy behind the counter was very polite, despite my price shock.

Since 2004, the Albano family has been bringing great tasting, Italian deli favorites to the Western burbs. While I have only used them for catering or take out– the actual store location is a great place to stop by and have them make a sandwich for you. Their subs are second to none-piled high with meats, cheeses and vegetables. Prefer a salad? They have a wide range with my favorites being the artichoke salad or the caprese salad. If Italian sausage and peppers is your thing– the fresh rolls and spicy meat will bring a smile to your face. Oh and don’t forget the desserts! Their cannoli, cookies and Italian pastries are worth every calorie! This is not a fancy place. Rather the simplicity is what makes it so good. Stop in and let the Albano family prepare one of their specialties for you. From your first visit– you will feel like you are a part of their extended family!
