China Buffet

While traveling home from a wedding in CT we were starving so we decided to stop in at this Chinese food buffet for lunch.
We didn’t quite know what to expect when we walked in, but the staff and overall dining experience here was great. Each staff member we interacted with was polite and I thoroughly enjoyed the fact that they had raw oysters and a fairly decent selection of seafood.
My wife told me that the rest of the food was a bit cold, but as we were there they began to bring out freshly made food. The only other critique I had was the fact that some of the entrées looked a bit dehydrated, but again that could have been due to the fact that we came in between the lunch and dinner rush.
In the end, we loved the food and would totally stop here again in the future.

We were expecting big turnout at the restaurant on Friday night in good weather. But it didn’t have many people, not that it’s anything wrong with it. Host greeted us with grace, and gave us good seats.
They have decent number of dishes. Although, many of them needed to be refilled. Food was just average. Calamari tasted very old. May be it was there for long. Wonton soup didn’t have any salt in it or any other spices. They have a sushi counter. That’s the best offering.
If you there, my advise it to try that first.

This buffet was really good! Prices were great for what they give you! They have a very wide selection ranging from fresh sushi, whole crabs, tons of cakes, american food, lo mein, basically anything you can think of!

different experience. definitely need to be really hungry to go there, especially to get money’s worth. went when first opened and staff didn’t speak English very well.

I love the new location of this restaurant! It’s right in the quaint town of Westerly right next to the beaches. Its located in a plaza right next to other staple businesses.
Right when you walk in there is a full service bar that can seat 5 or more people. There is a nice front desk area with Leche candies in a bowl as a parting gesture. The elaborate Chinese décor creates a unique ethnic feel. There is plenty of seating and there’s even a private function area.
The buffet is expansive and includes a raw/​sushi bar and hibachi grill. We arrived right when the dinner menu was being put out. So we got the freshest of quality! There is American such as pizza and French fries. Vegetarian option such as mushrooms, bakchoy, green beans. Seafood options like squid and various flavored shrimp. My favorite part is being able to make your own dish to be put in the grill. I love my veggies so I loaded up! The king crab legs were succulent and had lots of meat. I got a nice rainbow roll made fresh. Im a huge fan of their dumplings and dipping sauce!
My dinner looked something like this.
Appetizer: crab legs, oysters, hot & sour soup, rainbow
roll.
1^st plate: boneless spareribs, mayo shrimp, dumplings,
egg roll, bak-​choy.
Hibachi: carrots, onions, squash, pea pods, baby carrots,
water chestnuts, jalapeños, fried egg, and I
asked him to make it spicy ;p
Dessert: cantaloupe, honey Dew melon, peaches,
pineapple, macaroons, cup of mixed variety hard
ice cream.
My experience would have not been complete if it was not for the amazingly charismatic manager by the name of Tom! He made sure that we had everything we needed and took time to talk to us and ask us how we were enjoying everything. The service was efficient and always accompanied by a wholesome genuine smile :)

We’ve been dining at sister restaurant China Buffet in East Greenwich for years, and this spot is all that goodness and more. The Westerly location has similar offerings as its East Greenwich location and more – Hibachi, oysters and sushi – which put this over the top in the Chinese buffet category.
Distance is the only reason we don’t frequent more often (only twice in the past year) and still the owner remembered us from the East Greenwich location more than five years ago.
Good food (and plenty of it!) ample alcohol and super staff who treat you like family. Doesn’t get much better than that!

Went here last night with about 20 people for a friend’s birthday. This was my first time here as we are from eastern CT. For one price of around 16 $ per adult, you get a buffet, hibachi, and made to order sushi.
Hibachi was phenomenal. I enjoyed the steak. Shrimp not so much (and I’m a big shrimp fan normally). The crab legs were sweet and delicious.
Service was average. Refills were quick, and the alcoholic beverages were made strong (no complaints there)!
Overall I was very happy with this experience, and would certainly return without hesitation!

Pretty setting, staffs are nice, the food is not bad. Most food I gathered at the buffet are not hot enough. It doesn’t taste fresh as well. Most look like they came from cans. Its not a bad restaurant, but it is not my favorite.

If you pick and choose carefully at this buffet, you’ll have some good tasty food. Some items, like the few dim sum choices, were a little dry depending on how long they had been sitting out. Obviously, as with most buffets, not all the dishes were worth eating. However, there was a beef and peppers with onions that was good and a chicken with broccoli that was flavorful. I really enjoyed the spicy calamari selection. We didn’t have any of the egg rolls but they looked good and there were many choices of fried dumplings, etc. The sushi was made to order was nice and fresh. As stated by other reviewers, the service was very pleasant and helpful! For a reasonable lunch price of $ 8.95, it was worth the trip and there were enough good dishes to satisfy.

Best buffet I’ve been to! Too bad it’s too far from me! I only go on my to and from the beach. Located on a plaza.
Fresh oysters shucked in front of you. It can take awhile though. Tell the oyster guy you want 10 oysters on a plate and instead of waiting, go grab food from the buffet and come back to pick up your oyster plate. Same thing with the hibachi grill and the sushi bar. There’s a big monitor showing the menu of sushis and sashimis. You tell the sushi chef what you want and come back. This place has all manners of seafood and shellfish. There are no lobsters or king crab legs but they have mussels, cocktail shrimp, fried oysters, calamari, and crabs!!! Wow! And more of your Chinese buffet fare! If you’re a seafood lover, then you have to check out this place. The dessert section comes with pastries, cakes, cookies, and ice creams that you can put on a cone and walk out with it!

Don’t expect a full shushi bar, it’s made to order after you stand in line. So I was very disappointed when the sushi chef never made my order, or gave it to the wrong person… Either way I had no sushi and was sad.
That and not refilling our drinks once makes this place not worth the $ 16 a plate.

I love Americanized chinese food — especially the buffets. This is the best chinese buffet I’ve eve been to. It’s more expensive than most ($ 16) but worth it.

If you are in Westerly, and you really don’t feel like going to Golden Chopstix
– then go here instead. You’ll never stop eating. You won’t know whether to hit up the Hibachi bar or get some raw oysters; your mind will dart wildly when confronting itself with the question surrounding the choice between Octopus Sashimi and tender white meat chicken wrapped in maple-​glazed bacon. You’ll become so fat. You will see the drawn butter and then the pork-​fried rice. At lunch you will pay 9 bucks and at dinner 16, so just grab a late lunch – for dinner.
You haven’t yet tried their Premier Location in East Greenwich, but you have heard wonderful things. You remember when this Chinese Buffet was the old Chinese Buffet which went under because the owner was doing some funny business. You will love that they have like a thousand different ice cream flavors and that they have Tsingtao in bottles; that the servers are friendly and proficient (most of the time); that you are essentially getting whatever it is your little belly desires and then so much more than that for ten dollars, and you will come here again and again – until you notice that something is out of place – the whole-​belly clams taste bland, the pizza is ridiculous, the soups are flavorless and boring, the Salmon looks disgusting covered in that hot-​pink sauce, but it still TASTES good. The sushi bar can be hit or miss depending on what time you go and who’s cooking. I stay away from the sushi at lunch time, because I think that might be the down-​time for that particular station. (Too much cream-​cheese in the disappointingly warm Philadelphia roll).
They have a bar, but I don’t know why. They have cool mints for you when you’re leaving, and they have take-​out. Get the Egg roll.
Whoever is in charge of this place I am guessing is familiar with Szechuan style cooking, or is perhaps Mandarin. This person is doing a damn good job. I would tell them to higher their prices.

One of the best smaller city buffets (Dinner)
I am a buffet fan, and have dined at many throughout the country while traveling. This is one of the best buffets I have experienced in a smaller city (Westerly).
This buffet offers the best selection of seafood you will find anywhere for less than $ 20 (dinner). Highlights include made-​to-​order sushi, oysters on the half-​shell, and steamed quahogs (clams).
If there is one small weakness, it is in the area of fresh greens and salads, but this is minor.
I don’t think you will find better value at a seafood oriented buffet anywhere.

Highly recommended… good food, clean and awesome staff! My favorite is the sushi, freshly made! Good variety of seafood, they have a oyster bar and hibashi… reasonable price for a good food

Sushi is freshly made to your order and the oysters are shucked right before your eyes. Get creative with your Hibachi ingredients. The possibilities are endless and at a very reasonable price. Did I mention it’s ALL YOUR BELLY CAN HOLD?!!
Here’s a tip: order your Sushi first and while it’s being made, hit the rest of the buffet.

Only went there for take out, never again. The General Tso’s was so fried I could barely find the chicken. The dumplings were actually pretty good, lightly fried not super deep fried and doughy. My wife had the chicken and broccoli it lacked flavor.
My advice, find another place for Chinese Take out.

The best of the best would be shoulder to shoulder with China Buffet. Fantastic. Tommy, Sky and others are new here and working their magic. 2^nd time here this week.

This is the place to go to shove your face full of food until you’re ready to explode. From Raw Oysters, to sushi to just about ever other thing you’d expect to see at a chinese buffet. All of it is generally very good quality and tasty at that! The staff is always very accommodating, and very polite.

The best thing about this place is the desserts and fruit. Unlimited ice cream, yes please. And not generic soft serve, real ice cream. Chocolate, vanilla peach, strawberry, french vanilla, coffee, and a few others. The food was standard china buffet food, meh. I remember now why I never go but I’ve been craving chinese and thought I would give it a shot. The meat gets overcooked sitting on heat. It may be best to go right when they open. If I went again, I would likely just go for the desserts and possibly try the hibachi and sushi, which I did not get to try this time. The service was very good and I like the modern lighting. Cheap lunch price, definitely worth it.
