Terrible service… Had 40% of things available from stuff on the menu… Waited an hour and 15 to get food. DONOTCOMEHERE.

This was the first time I’ve been to Sandy’s, I had always been under the impression this was a biker bar, there weren’t many people in there as it was in the middle of the week and understandably so. They had karaōke going on and there was a large group enjoying that. Enjoying it too much as they were just awful at the songs and it very puzzling to me why people enjoy karaōke. I’ve never actually seen anyone perform a great song impression ever and wherever I go that offers karaōke is never really busy so I’m not sure why it’s still offered. My ears bled during one song, I passed out, and my friends had to splash water on me, I hadn’t been drinking yet I just think they hit a note that caused my brainwaves to go awry. I didn’t pass out but sheesh… stop singing… There was easy access to the outside patio but the inside was incredibly hot and smelled of stale… something. We didn’t eat the food because it didn’t seem like a place we’d enjoy very much and judging on past reviews we decided to eat elsewhere. I’m not entirely sure I would be back, there are other choices on the strip, not many great ones in general ones but there are other choices nevertheless.

Avoid at all costs! This place is terrible and now earns the«All-Time Worst Meal Ever!» award. The menu is fraudulent. They advertise on the menu a foot-long hot dog. It’s not. It’s a crappy little rat tail of a dog like an Oscar Meyer style bun length dog. The Chili tasted like dog food with chili seasoning. When we told the server that the dogs were not foot long dogs he shrugged and told us that’s what they serve. The owner of this place should be ashamed. She actually made a bad place even worse! At least the old place had a little charm when you went to the back window to order food and then sat at the darkest bar ever and drank beer until it came. Now you sit on a crummy(but new) deck, order off a menu and get lied to about what you’re going to be served. I’ll never be back and I’m telling everyone I know to stay away.

Save some money and do not eat here… While our waitress was very nice, she said that it was very busy though there were many tables available. We ordered 2 clam belly platters for $ 18.00.The whole meal was a big pile of mush. The fries were soggy, and the clams has so much soggy batter on them. They were not even belly clams. Terrible! When we questioned that maybe we got the clam fritters the waitress went to the kitchen and said that they were bellies… Many customers just walked out because they were not being served!

Sandy’s serves a purpose. If you want high end, gourmet, farm to table, fresh caught food, with the most up to date interior design… keep driving. If you need a place to blow off some steam, enjoy a decent, yet a little greasy, meal and have some fun, go here. We were headed to the beach but it was raining all morning, so we stopped in for lunch. A big tattooed bartender looks at me, my wife and our 3 little kids as we come in and with a huge grin tells us to come in and have a seat, pick any table ya want. Perfect. There was a group of guys and a family shooting pool, a couple of guys having some beers at the bar and music. My kids walked around and danced and lip synced on the stage as no band was there, and more kids and families came in later. Nobody had an issue with our 17 month old running back and forth the dance floor. My kids like burgers and chicken fingers and buffalo wings. So this was right on the money. We usually eat in Mystic, Noank and Stonington for bigger meals or more formal dinners, but for a spot to wait the storm out until the afternoon sun –this was good. The waitresses were a little behind as I don’t think they anticipated anyone coming in the rain, but they were more than accommodating. Considering they were on the main strip to the beach, I didn’t think their prices were that overpriced. It worked out and we ended up at the beach shortly after.

Food was edible. Drinks were strong and reasonably priced(I’m from NYC). Patrons were your typical late night, middle of nowhere, townies. Karaōke was entertaining. I’ll be back.

DON’T EATHERE!!! Eating here was literally the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. I’ve worked at a restaurant since I was 14 so I’m very inclined to give the benefit of the doubt but this place was terrible in every way. Even still, I can’t blame our waitress or the cooks; whoever owns this place is a dingus. No one brought us menus so we found one ourselves and shared it. The menu was a weird combination of crappy bar food and seafood. About 15 minutes go buy and our waitress comes over to tell us it took her so long because she couldn’t find any menus. Fine, I don’t care, I’m not in a rush, I’m here to enjoy myself. We got our drinks and our order taken fairly quickly. Immediately after we order I heard another waitress tell the table next to us that she wasn’t sure why their food wasn’t ready yet but hopefully it would be done soon. Oh no… Could we have made a mistake? A half an hour goes by and our waitress comes over to ask my friend if she wants her lobster roll cold or hot… Clearly our food had not even been started yet. At this point we were still trying to be optimistic. Maybe the food will be incredible. Well surprise, surprise! When it came another 20 minutes later, it was disgusting. My boyfriend and I shared whole clams and a burger. The clams were burnt and tasted like they had gone bad. I was literally scared I would get sick if I ate them. The burger was over cooked(asked for medium rare and it was well done) but it was the only thing on the table that resembled food so we ate it. The clam chowder was water. Not watery, water. My boyfriend told me I HAD to try the coleslaw. I took a bite and it was just dry cabbage without any type of sauce. DRYCABBAGE! We just looked at each other and started laughing because at that point it was all too much. When our waitress asked how everything was my friend tried to complain about the food but we were very quickly dismissed without even an apology so we asked for the bill so we could get out of there as quickly as possible. We paid our $ 100 bill left the waitress $ 20(which killed us but we’re all in the service industry) and promised ourselves that next time when we’re out of town we will always check Unilocal before picking a restaurant.

The bartender/waitress was very rude. When we asked for a menu she wouldn’t give one to us and rudely told us to sit down. Then when we tried to order drinks and asked about their vodka selection, she rolled her eyes at us and answered crassly. At first she told us they had everything except pizza and then when I order a grinder she told me they didn’t have that either and listed about 80% of the menu that they didn’t have. Throughout the entire evening she continued with her rude attitude and treated us like we were stupid. Even when we tried to pay at the end she yelled at us to wait a minute and then took her sweet time. I will not be coming back again or recommending this place to anyone. That woman needs to learn some manners or not work at any job that requires human interaction because she clearly isn’t good at it.

Located right across the street from the beautiful Mesquamikut Beach, this is the perfect place to stop off for a drink after a long day in the sun. However, I would stop at the drinks. The food was subpar at best, basically crappy bar food. The interior is a bit run down and I have heard that it can have quite the rowdy crew as the night draws on. There is some outdoor seating and the staff was very friendly and welcoming. I would return here to grab a drink.

This place looked really nice inside. It was freshly remodeled from Hurricane Sandy. First of all of all the fryer was broken so they had no fried food to offer. Secondly their menu had four or five draft beers listed but in reality they just had Budweiser. We ordered pizza bread that took about 15 minutes and it was a hoagie rolls sliced in half with sauce and cheese baked in the oven for four dollars.

Dee-sgustingg never again. Expensive with condescending wait staff. I could have made this sandwich at home a million times better. The lettuce was on top of the sandwich, not inside so it all fell out. Only finished my food because I’m starving to death from the beach. I had one bite of fried clams and it tasted SO fishy and old like I am absolutely petrified that I’m going to get sick and am seriously considering purging. *edit number 3. T H R E E * Sick as a dog at my house right now 2 hours later after eating here.

For being the only business that stays open all year round down by the beach I’m a fan of Sandy’s Lighthouse. If you hadn’t been to Sandy’s before Sandy(the storm) then you don’t know what an amazing job they’ve done bringing the business back. The bar area is a bit smaller than I remember but everything is new and improved. There’s a stage for a band and/or karaōke. And there’s an outdoor patio in the back & side for a nice day. They will have new draft lines installed soon which is a bit of a drag but they’re coming. I went on a random Tuesday in October to try them out & wasn’t disappointed. I got a $ 4 Gansett bottle & some wings while he opted for their french fries. The wings were passable. While kinda small they weren’t the worst I’ve had but definitely passable. I only tried one flavor but they had a handful of options. My son’s fries were pretty damn good. These were no average frozen fries. The owner said they are hand cut every day & I was impressed. It looks like a party every time I drive by the place in the summer. Lots of bikers but it was laid back the time I went.

Wow, so I’ve been coming to misquamicut for a while but never been to this place. 5 dollar cover to see a horrible band, the regulars looked a carnival sideshow, including a guy with a pet rat on his shoulder(you read that correctly). Despite that I had a pretty good time as everyone was enjoying themselves, but avoid this place if you aren’t absolutely hammered before walking in.

Also down the street from the windjammer is a great place to hang out on Misquamequet Beach in the summer. Great view and Great Company. With some friends you would have to be dead not to have fun here in the summer. Awesome.

We came in for beers and snacks on a Wednesday night. We definitely enjoyed the karaōke and pool tables. There were only a few patrons but the service at the bar was slow. The bartenders were chatty with locals and each other. The cheeseburger was juicy and good. The clam chowder was good as well — creamy and warm with good clam flavor. The lobster roll was a disappointment, prepared with mayo(basically a lobster salad roll) and tiny chopped up pieces of lobster(?) meat. I felt a little ripped off(it was $ 14). Next time we will stick with the burger. This place has a loyal local following, and lots of summer birds like us who are happy to have casual cheap food after a long day at the beach. We will be back next summer.

I made my annual return visit to Sandy’s last night. Hasn’t changed. I had just come down from Boston and I was hungry and the house wasn’t warm. So I went over to Venice, had some desert and decided next to head to the beach. Nice clear night. Sandy’s parking lot was busy, so I said, «Why not?» Paid the 5 dollars, sat at the bar, drank two Diet Cokes and listened to some good rock music. Mixed crowd. Some just turning 21 and old men like me leering at them! Looks like most folks are from out of town and staying at the motels nearby. Did I say I’m old? Not at Sandy’s.

I freaking love this place. The clientele: think the cast of «Jersey Shore»(but older and more leathery skinned) but with a soupçon of «The Bachelor/Bachelorette» added in for good measure. The drinks: strong and cheap. Although the bartendress gave me the stinkeye when I asked if they had cider. No, J-Woww, I didn’t mean apple cider. The music: the cover band«Fat Betty» was playing the night we were there, bringing their own inimitable flavor to such rock classics as «Sweet Child O’ Mine» and«Should I Stay or Should I Go.» They brought the house down and sent many on the dance floor where delightful chaos ensued. Sandy’s also has karaōke a few times a week. I cannot wait to bear witness to this when I return in a couple of months.
