My wife and I recently purchased a new home that included 3 fairly large rooms that desperately needed their wall colors re-evaluated. While the vibrant purples, greens and reds that we were welcomed with may have been perfectly suitable for the children of the family that we bought the home from – that scenario is quite a few years down the road for us. Call us boring – but the neutral tan color that filled the rest of the home’s living areas was just the clean look we wanted to go for. After doing a bit of exploring in the basement, we were able to locate the partially used cans of paint that were used to create the beautifully simple colors of tan and found they were from Sherwin Williams. A quick Google search showed that the Westerville location was the closest to our home. With paint bucket in hand, we drove to the Schrock Road location and were greeted with an uninspiring storefront located in a strip mall mostly vacant of tenants(outside of the Big Lots«anchor store» which was probably the source of the other 5 cars in the parking lot). Much like the exterior – the interior of the store included no «frills» in presentation or product and had an old-school hardware store vibe to it that became more or less extinct with the arrival of powerhouses Lowe’s and Home Depot. Everything you would actually need to paint was present on the shelves and the fact that you weren’t required to take part in a scavenger hunt through 37 aisles of things you didn’t need was refreshing. The small scale of the store ultimately led to the outstanding customer service we received. There were no lines of customers waiting that would force the employees to treat each transaction as though it was an assembly line(.which is what you often find at «big box» hardware stores) and we were met with a warm greeting from the multiple employees working behind the desk and restocking items. Within a few short minutes, the associate we were working with inputted our contact info and we were set to save any purchases made to their system so we could quickly and efficiently match exact paint colors in the future without having to worry about holding onto the codes on the paint can(Note: We have received zero annoying calls/mailings/emails of marketing from Sherwin Williams trying to sell us a product by doing this). We told the employee the square footage of walls we needed to paint and he quickly calculated the exact number of buckets we would need based on paint type(FYI… the paint plus primer SuperPaint we purchased to match the previous type is outstanding by the way – only 2 light coats to cover the loudest colors). I ended up buying 1 more bucket than we were told we needed, just in case, and ended up using almost exactly all the paint we purchased minus the 1 extra bucket I bought – oh well. After all the paint was mixed, one of their associates carted it out to the car for my wife and I without us having to request this nice gesture. We have since been back to this location multiple times and each time we go we are consistently met with the same friendly, knowledgeable and overall outstanding staff. I, without any reservation, recommend taking your business there. Don’t be fooled by the lack of glamor on the exterior – the quality of service more than makes up for it. (Overall experience 4.5 out of 5 stars)
