Holy. Smokes. That alone should say it all. But I can’t end there. From the first bite of my Lancaster sandwich, I knew I’d be walking out of the place with one of everything to take home. The Lancaster is a grilled cheese on crack. It’s grilled brie with a perfect amount of blackberry compote and a very thin lining of basil. The flavor in this sandwich made my mouth SING! I chose the fresh berries as my side. First, fresh berries. Not all the melon crap that comes at most restaurants. Berries. And they were so good! Not bitter at all. I needed no additional sweetener on them at all. I took home the figgy piggy sandwich as well to have for lunch. Prosciutto, granny smith apples, fig spread… so yum. I couldn’t get enough of the berries for breakfast so I ordered them as my side for my lunch sandwich as well. I took the last two macaroons(which I can’t speak of highly enough), some sort of sugar bar cookie that literally melted in my mouth. If I don’t come back just for the Lancaster — that sugar bar would bring me back. And this time, I’m buying 3 or 6 :-) I also brought home a cannoli. My guy is from NYC so when he bit into it, I was waiting for a reaction. It was, «hey! This is really good.» For a guy from New York — that says something. If you’re in the area — or even 30 miles away… get in there! You won’t be sorry!

I stopped in last Saturday to grab a quick breakfast and some treats for a client meeting. I believe it was the female owner working, she was incredibly sweet and helpful. It’s a very cute little place, right off 32, easy to find and dangerously close to my home :) I picked up a pumpkin donut type baked good with maple glaze, sooooo good. I could have eaten 5. Also had a latte and a variety of macaroons. Let me tell you, those macaroons are delicious! My client went nuts for them! It’s not something you can find just anywhere. I’ll be back for certain.

Friendly people, yummy food, great vibe! It’s grandma’s cooking meets foodie. Small town quaint meets modern eclectic. I will be going back soon!

Westfield’s hidden gem! Can words even do Union Baking Company justice? Union Baking is Sunday at Grandmas house. It’s that new hipster place down the street. It’s that place that mom and dad took you as a child for treats after a long week that’s been around for generations. Its all those warm fuzzy feelings. It’s everything you’d(hope and) expect to find in the tiny town of Westfiled. The mom and pop place with great food. This is the real deal. Oddly enough, it wasn’t Unilocal that lead me to Union Bakery it was my Entertainment coupon book. Union Bakery doesn’t come up in my Unilocal search of nearby restaurants(I wonder why?) Where are my fellow Unilocalers? You need to check this place out! I pulled into a gravel parking lot with ample parking on a Saturday afternoon. Looking at the place from outside you’d think it was nothing special. Just a Westfield house turned into a small bakery. Never judge a book by its cover! As I walked up to the front door I noticed the quaint front porch with seating and rocking chairs reminiscent of mamaws house in Kentucky. As I walk into the screen door the smell of fresh brewed coffee and bacon fill the air. Yes! They have much more than just baked goods! I’m temporarily disappointed that I had just eaten breakfast not long before coming because I thought I was just going to pick up some baked goodies. This feeling passes quickly as I spot an array of yummies on the counter ahead. I’m greeted by a warm smiling face behind the counter.(I feel awful, I didn’t get her name) «It’s my first time here.» I sheepishly admit. She’s all too happy to go through the line of goodies. Apple streusel pie, Berry crumb cake, chocolate croissants, sugar cookies, double chocolate cookies, cake balls, macaroons, canolies, cupcakes, pecan pie(with some of there biggest pecans I’ve ever seen!) and a monster of a macaroon whoopie pie looking confection affectionately named the Maria Antoinette. I decide on the sugar cream pie bars and the berry crumb cake.(I’m still kicking myself for not getting a piece of that pecan pie! I won’t be too hard on myself though I’m pretty sure I was distracted by all the charm this place has to offer) as I’m waiting for my food to be packaged I’m taking in the scenery. The detail of the décor, the patio in the side yard with seating and a perfect spot for people watching or reading a book, the book of cakes that they make on the bakery… the HUGE parfait that just passes my vision… whoa that thing is huge! I can’t stop myself from staring at someone’s breakfast as it passes. I know, you’re thinking it’s just a parfait-it’s the biggest one I’ve ever seen and it was gorgeous. It’s accompanied by another plate with eggs bacon and a fruit cup that looks equally delicious. I apologize to the server for staring and he introduces himself as Joe and is all too happy to go through some of the daily specials they’ve had and even brings out a pulled pork sammie for me to inspect; just a really knowledgeable great guy. I later find through Facebook snooping that Joe is one of the owners. My sidekick picks up the lovely Maria Antoinette macaroon cake, a chocolate Nutella pumpkin cookie, and a sugar cookie. We pay for our items and hesitantly leave but I have promised a 7 yr-old we’d go swimming and we must go. We’re home maybe two

A nice new breakfast location following in the trendy Westfield vibe of quaint restaurants with eclectic décor and hand crafted menus. The croissants were a big hit with the table. A few were purchased for breakfast at home. Frittata was very well done. Salmon and fresh dill blended well with no one flavor overpowering the dish. Prices were reasonable for item and quality. Latte was delicious! Overall, highly recommend trying this breakfast spot if close by or a lovely spot to meet friends to catch up over coffee and pastry. Compliments to the staff on letting us linger over our coffee and not rushing us. Nice relaxing change for lazy Sat

This is a cute little bakery. The service is a bit slow, but for a local business I think it’s understandable. Their cinnamon rolls are gigantic and delicious!

I fell in love with this place as soon as I walked up the ramp and opened the door. There are a handful of tables and a beautiful display of delicious pastries. There were several to choose from when I went and I must have looked like a newb cuz the guy asked if he could give me the full run of things. He carefully explained each product and gave me just enough info to want to purchase Every. Single. One. There were also sandwiches to choose from but I went for a chocolate croissant, a brownie and a couple cookies(not ALL for me…) Every bite was perfection. It’s clear they’ve taken so much pride in everything they make. There were lots of options including gluten free. Everything was made in house with the exception of the cannoli’s. I can’t wait to go back there and try more things. This place is charming and I just want to throw all of my money at them.

Lots of gluten free items, adorable café atmosphere, very European… this is the perfect spot for lunch or breakfast… great coffee… very personable service, small town, small business and well worth it… the French macaroons are delicious, and their cakes/pies to order are out of this world… the chocolate sea salt pie I ordered for Christmas was a huge hit with my family…

Great and personable service! I frequent this business, almost weekly, due to meetings across the street. They recognize our group members and welcome us when we meet at Union. When they have new menu items, they give samples to see what we(the customer) thinks. Nice local artwork to decorate the walls, with a modern yet country décor feel.

Beer Cheese Soup Day. The way Joe does it, it should be a holiday! I say at least once a month.

This is a copy and paste of my review that I gave last week. I am putting it here as well because a new business entry was put in with their current address. My son and I were going to the library and needed to kill a few minutes so we decided to stop in and finally give the place a try. The building is not huge, maybe 8 or so tables, but it was very inviting with a good laid back vibe. I got a blueberry crumb cake and an orange juice, bottle not fresh, that came to just under five bucks. I thought for the price the size of the cake was very good. The best part of the entire bust though was the taste. I thought the crumb cake was delicious. I can’t wait to give them another try to try some different stuff.
