Le Pain Quotidien – Westlake Village

This place is really great! I came here to have breakfast, and it was really pleasant. The Coffee tastes like real coffee, the pastries are so fresh and the baguette (bread) is so crispy. The décor and atmosphere are great! I liked!

Came here alone one Sunday morning for breakfast. Brought a book to read while i devoured the avocado toast, chia pudding and a chai latte. I actually don’t like avocado (I know!!, I’m sorry) but all the seasonings they add make it bearable! Everything was yummy and the service was great

Great place for brunch! Very cool and trendy ambiance (seating inside and out are both very nice). Above average coffee and smoothies. Toasted Paris Ham & Gruyère Croissant was very tasty, although the dressing on the side salad was very light.

Came for lunch and ordered the vegetable tartin. It was awful a soggy pastry that appeared to have been microwaved. Really disappointing.

Good, but I’m a PICKY b’fast eater. So, I had a hard time finding something I really liked. Also, our server was not very friendly.

This is the second time I’ve been here. I make it a point to stop in for breakfast when I’m in town on business. I love the cold brewed ice coffee and the avocado toast. The artisan breads are great and I took some home last time I was here as well. It was nice to eat my breakfast on the patio in the cool crisp California spring.

It was safe again to go out there !
we after our incident at the café, we were invited back with great hospitality, just happened was our puppy’s first birthday, we celebrate by having brunch there in the patio, and this time, no troubled diner. and the service is good as always. We appreciate the hospitality set up by their contact Erin and to GM Ryan. Our server was also very attentive to us from taking orders to serve everything and thoughtful of our pet to have water and a small plate of treat for her birthday ~ overall, we had always been fan, except the uncontrollable element of certain people have hatred toward other races. it was unfortunate but we were glad we had chance to offset that terrible experience. Thank you for making this a great experience.

Take quaint atmosphere, unique flavors, and vegan-​friendliness, what do you get? Le Pain Quotidien. My family and I love this place, there’s something for all of us to eat. Yeah, the portions are European-​sized, and you usually have to ask for extra toast to really to be satisfied, but that doesn’t lessen the value of this place dramatically.
I love the vegan omelets here.

I’m a minimalist not only by design but by palate and PQ appeals to all my sensibilities. This cozy Belgium import features rustic communal tables, cozy intimate nooks and contingent upon location, continental style outdoor dining as well. Simple, organic ingredients comprise the limited but substantial menu with an emphasis on breakfast /​brunch items, house baked breads and pastries and salads/​tartines for lunch .
I have always believed that the best flavors are enhanced with a little sea salt, freshly cracked pepper, lemon juice and Evoo and these ingredients comprise so much of the choices here. That being said :
Healthful and flavorful ‘Avocado Toast’ is my favorite breakfast item followed by the Steel Cut Oats, or seasonal warm grains. All egg dishes are excellent as well, especially the Goat Cheese and Wild Mushroom omelette, and served with fresh signature breads baked in house as well as organic mixed greens.
I’m loving the prosciutto pear fig tartine but you will not be disappointed with any of the other choices in this category. Classic quiches and soups offer warmth to the menu.
PQ also brings to the American table in house roasted coffee served French style in a bowl, and a croissant, scone or brioche straight out of the oven.
Limited seasonal menus are a welcome testament to old world agrarian style cooking. Multiple locations around Los Angeles all incorporating the same blueprint with a regional flair.
I’m always happy to find myself at a PQ secure in the knowledge I will be served tasty high quality whole foods.

Very good concept, originally from Belgium. Nice, pretty cozy atmosphere, and well prepared healthy food. First time at this location, however, have been to the Beverly Hills and West Hollywood ones many, many times. We enjoyed the food, a Tabouli salad and a warm grain bowl with goat cheese. In addition, very nice and professional staff & service. Highly recommended!

Why the shabby 3.5 review?
I’ve been to the Le Pain Quotidien twice now, and both times have been nothing but great.
FOOD: ⁵⁄₅
To be fair, I’ve yet to try their dining menu, but I can vouch for the latte and pastries. The chocolate croissant is an absolute must, and paired with a warm bowl of latte, it’s the best way to kick-​off the morning or end a long day of work.
SERVICE: ⁵⁄₅
Beyond the food, the service has been excellent. It’s been quiet during the two times I visited (~6pm on weekday), and as a result, the waitress and cashier have been so attentive! They also don’t mind at all that I come in to do some work on my laptop.

The interior is beautiful. I love the community table that’s decorated with cookbooks. It’s my favorite place to sit. I visited the original Le Pain Quotidien in Brussels, which is really just a cramped pastry/​coffee shop, and I can attest that since its first opening, the chain has really come a long way and set the bar high.

Boyfriend & I came here for brunch on New Year’s Day and I was pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed ourselves at a chain restaurant. I had been to Le Pain before for a quick coffee to go but never to sit down to eat. It’s a «seat yourself» style so we put ourselves at this beautiful community table decorated with cookbooks and condiment racks.
We ordered coffee and scones to start while we figured out what to eat. They serve breakfast pretty late and they have a nice lunch selection so boyfriend ordered a Tomato & Avocado omelette and I ordered the Quiche Lorraine. Boyfriend said his omelette was good but could have used some peppers or onions to give it more flavor. My Quiche Lorraine was so good – really flavorful and the flaky pastry bottom was just perfect! The sweet waitress helping us was also great and made sure to check in on us despite how busy it was.
I definitely enjoyed the atmosphere more than anything and it was the perfect place to enjoy a nice, relaxing breakfast.

Mixed feelings…
This is my second time visiting a Le Pain Quotidien establishment and it left me feeling the same way (meehhhhhhh)
The Westlake location is always busy! If the weather is dandy, expect to see the locals all seated outside during lunch hour.
Since i get a short lunch, i was limited to a take out order from here. I ended up getting the Paris Ham and aged Gruyère sandwich which comes with a mustard trio and a side salad.
Sandwich was super greasy!!! (drenched in oil or butter) The mustard trio did not pair well with the ham/​cheese combo. Uhh i paid over $ 10 for a fancy grilled cheese and a side of greens. (Cool)
I think the only item worth ordering on the menu is the smoked salmon plate for breakfast.
Also some of their baked goods. Other than that. I don’t see myself eating their food again.

I’ve been lucky enough to have been taken out to lunch every time I’ve eaten here. (Ssshhh, it’s my mom.) So my idea of price isn’t relevant to my review. The presentation here is rustic, simplicity. Some sandwiches are brought out on cutting boards, but it’s not hipster. I’ve had the turkey dip, which was also like a bah mi sandwich. And of course it had the a jus dip. It was great. Their lemonades and other drinks come in carafes, so it’s about three glasses. If it ever cools down in Westlake, I suggest sitting outside. I find when I say «Le Pain Quotidien,» I sound so fancy. It’s fun to say for sure. This is great lunch place, I look forward to coming back.

Didn’t even realize there was one Westlake! There’s some construction going on nearby right now and I think it’s affecting the parking. I had to park allllll the way down near the Vons supermarket behind it.
Service was good.
Their CHICKEN SOUP is honestly so warm and comforting — I could eat it every week. Has chickpeas, carrots, quinoa… texturally delicious and tasty! best thing I had.
Curry chicken salad tartine was nothing special. Definitely eat it with the chutney to give it more zing.
Lentil soup was their soup if the day that day and it was good too. Not spectacular but hearty and satisfying. Slightly underseasoned but just so.
Outdoor seating in front is available.

NEVER order take out from here! I am a regular at this restaurant and normally eat there. Today I was in a rush and called it Togo. I ordered the quinoa taboule salad which I normally get at the restaurant. They charged me $ 2 for extra avocado which I did not ask for and the size of the Togo salad was ¹⁄₃ the size of what I normally get in store. I didn’t realize I was charged extra for avocado once I was leaving and I was in a rush and could not go back to argue with them. So unless you’re ok with getting ripped off I suggest never to get take out food from here.
(Their food is great but terrible service. Wish management would step up)

I’m not sure what the fuss is all about here. It’s a new spot so maybe folks are coming to check it out. Dining is available either in or on the patio overlooking the parking lot. Orders are placed at the counter. Portion sizes are small for the price, service is friendly.

Le pain is not for everyone and it’s definitely not for me every day. The portions are small and very light! A little bit pricey for what you get. That being said, they are delicious and healthy making it the perfect light lunch when you aren’t too hungry. I especially love this location. They have outdoor seating and a huge indoor space, free wi-​fi, and great service. It’s the perfect spot for me to come and get some work done. You really can’t go wrong with any of their tartines (open faced Belgian sandwich), salads, drinks and desserts. My favorite is the chicken mozzarella tartine.

Avocado toast, oh how I love you! Avocado, organic olive oil, chia seeds, scallions, tomatoes, salt, and lemon juice on organic bread makes my mouth happy! Their iced coffee is strong and out-​of-​this-​world tasty!
They have a good selection of breakfast and brunch foods, all using organic and local ingredients.
My hubby got an Omlett that looked pretty good and my bro-​in-​law ordered a sandwich. I would say that the only con is that portions are small, and while I was full when we left, the boys wanted to go get more food elsewhere.

Went here today, their 1^st day opening after a day of rain yesterday. It was perfect chilly yet sunny day so I decided to have brunch here and see what it’s all about.
And I have to say, for a first day opening, I am thoroughly impressed with not only how smoothly service went, but the food was amazing as well.
To start things off, this place is self seating. So go ahead, pick a seat and your server will come on by to give you a menu. It can be quite confusing at first because as soon as I entered, the counter was there to greet me so I thought it was like Urth as far as ordering goes.
The whole place conveys a minimalistic-​rustic-​modern feel of light wood tables, carrara marble tiles, and low lying light fixtures. There’s also a lot of natural light in the place which adds a level of «freshness» to the ambiance. They have a communal table that stretches out across in the middle of the dining space, but they also have small tables along the perimeter and outdoor seating when you want a more private brunch rendezvous with your girlfriends for the weekend. Totally casual. Not Denny’s go in your pj’s casual. My boyfriend describes it as Westlake casual. lol
Tamara was our server today, and she was totally helpful and friendly.
I started things off with their hot Belgian chocolate drink. Which was perfect for the weather. Their drinks come in their signature «bowls» (handle-​less mugs) perfect for today’s chilly weather. The chocolate was perfect, and the temperature was spot on. The only caveat is I had to use both hands when I wanted a sip. Meaning I can’t have a fork on the other hand and multitask. lol
Their hot Mocha was okay, it was nothing special. Not bad either.
P.S: their drinks are about $ 3 – 4. No, they’re not refillable.
Smoked Salmon breakfast (⁵⁄₅) — I’m not normally a fan of smoked salmon so I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed their rendition. The salmon was still plump and wasn’t smoked to a crisp; sprinkled with dill on top. The ricotta cheese was fresh and added richness to the dish, and the soft boiled egg was cooked perfectly and added another element of texture (and a bit of protein) to everything. It came with capers and a wedge of lemon which blended well and cut the richness of everything going on. I’d recommend it to anyone who likes smoked salmon. The only thing I can be nit picky about it I wish the bread was served warm, since everything in the plate is fairly cool.
Chicken Chorizo Omelette (⁵⁄₅) MUST TRY. Everything was just seasoned well and was very tasty. Their salsa had a taste of acidity in it that just made sense with the egg and the chorizo and everything. The salad was fresh, drizzled with a basic vinaigrette and fresh bread. It was filling but not to the point I felt I was bloated and I think part of that is they don’t have potatoes as sides. No my friend, no hash, french or cottage fries. Which I didn’t mind at all. Consider yourself warned.
Each table has their house-​made jams sitting. The praline spread was tasty imagine a subtle less sweet cousin of nutella.
Oh and of course dessert. Who can forget dessert. BANOFFEE TART (⁵⁄₅) YES. Just. Yes. I was iffy getting this since whip crème, and dulce de leche and caramel and banana seemed all to sweet. But man oh man! It was love at first bite. It wasn’t offensively sweet at all, it was sublime actually. The dulce de leche and fresh clumps of banana was fresh and oh so yummy. The whip crème was cool and melted in my mouth. Even my boyfriend who hates caramel devoured half of it.
Their cookies are huge! It’s definitely on the crispy side though, So if you like yours on the chewy side you would not enjoy this
Chances of return? definitely! I’m curious to try their quiche next time.
