I had a very disappointing experience when Olio Pizzeria opened last summer but decided to give them another chance tonight. Another poor decision. I ordered a gluten free cheese-less pizza with calamari and shrimp. The marinara sauce was almost invisible so i asked for a side of it. They gave me a tiny container which barely covered the teeny tiny most expensive pizza in the world. The crust was burnt and inedible. My dentist would like it though, since I could have broken a tooth biting into it. Photo included. I also ordered a salad for $ 10 and it most mostly lettuce. I asked for more cucumber and tomato which they begrudgingly added. The bartenders were too busy to pay attention to my requests and seemed angry that I would order something so complicated. 30 minutes later, I took my food and left after paying $ 44 plus tip. Don’t waste your time and money here!!!

Came here when I was in town for a business trip. Picked this place based on the reviews and I am so glad I did. It was great! Yes — it is pricey for a pizza place, but it was well worth it. Amazing wine selection(by the glass), authentic brick oven pizzas and incredibly nice and attentive staff. Although I was too full for dessert, I decided to try the panna cotta alla nocciola(which was recommended to me by the restaurant). It was — hands down — the best panna cotta I have ever had in my entire life! It was chocolate hazelnut heaven. Absolutely incredible. I will definitely come back here again.

Way overpriced for the size and quality. Salad was essentially a 1⁄3 of a bag of arugula from trader joes, with minimal other items and bland dressing. Broccoli rab was disgusting… extremely overcooked and tasteless. Meatballs and marinara appetizer was delicious, but the portion size was microscopic for the price. Service was excellent, and the only highlight of the evening. We will not be back.

Pizza is the most authentic the best in the area. Service had a hiccup but they went way above and beyond to make it right. The DOC is killer.

Yeah… 3 stars… right in the middle sounds about right. The place wasn’t awful, nor was it amazing. Having been to the Olio y Limone in Santa Barbara I thought it would be great to try their new concept. When the place opened last year it was packed so on the night I went there was no wait. Chose to sit outside and the patio is quite nice. We ordered 2 apps(burrata and the octopus salad) 1 pizza and 1 glass of wine… all of which was shared… except the wine of course. The bill came to just over $ 70. So at the end of it all, be prepared to ask yourself… «Did I really just pay that much for a pizza?». The burrata was excellent and the octopus salad was ok. The pizza was good, not great and the kitchen did a poor job of cutting it. I feel the gold standard in LA for artisan pizza is Mozza. And Mozza still wins, hands down when it comes to taste and execution. Service was ok, it could have been more attentive.

Stopped in a bar for appetizers and cocktails, bartender was super helpful, she made some awesome drinks. Appetizers were enormous generous portions! Can’t wait to go back!

My wife and I came here for lunch. The place was empty. Service was very slow. There was olive oil on the table but they would not serve bread!!! We asked for bread while waiting for food and they said they don’t offer bread. The portions were tiny. My caprese sandwich was very small and it came with a very small portion of salad. My wife’s trout salad also came in a very small portion. The fish was too salty and only came with lettuce. The waitress never came to ask us how the food was. All in all it was a bad experience. We do not recommend this place to anyone.

We came here on a Tuesday night and were seated right away. We ordered: Cavalfiori fritti: fried cauliflower w/spicy aioli Con vegetali pizza: tomato sauce, mozzarella, grilled eggplant, grilled bell peppers, & grilled zucchini, w/cherry tomatoes The pastry chef, who is also the owner came to talk to us and offered to make a crêpe for us. So, we got: Crespella alla Nutella: crêpe w/chocolate-hazelnut spread Everything was delicious and the the waitresses were very attentive. Parking is right in the front.

I ordered the di bietole salad(arugual, beets, pistachios, ricotta cheese). The dressing was ultra sour. It tasted as though the person preparing the appetizers used lemon juice with a touch of vinegar. When I asked the server about the taste, she said the restaurant prepares the food like they do in Italy. I’ve been to Rome, Venice, Florence, Siena and Pisa and have never had a salad like that! I had them bring a new salad without any dressing. I made my own out of olive oil and vinegar. It was delicious. The calamari was also good. For the main course I had the bistecchina saporita(grilled flank steak with roasted green bell peppers, onion and fries). I asked for it medium rare and it came back medium well. The bell peppers and onions were wet and oily(pan fried and not grilled). Parts of the steak had a gamy scent. Was it fresh meat? Hmmmm. The kids had a margherita pizza and lasagna. They were both fine. I have no plans on coming back. 3 entrees + appetizer and no wine…$ 80. Sigh…

Excellent service and the food is over the top! Hoping they drop their prices soon or else this eatery will only be for special occasions.

A bit let down, with the $ 100.00 lunch(which included a tip), for a Prosciutto & Buffala appetizer plate, gluten free Margarita pizza, and a couple of glasses of Prosecco… left feeling hungry. It was good… service was great. Just feeling at lunch, they may want to reconsider their price point!!!

This restaurant has a very pretty exterior but once you get inside, you will likely experience bad service, and bland food. We ordered a classic bruschetta, and shared a calzone. We noticed our order of bruschetta sitting on the counter for 10 minutes before it was given to us. And the bruschetta was bland, as it seemed to be missing some major ingredients. After a few disappointing bites, I asked the waiter for balsamic vinegar to see if it would taste any better. I’m not sure anything would have helped it. Hoping the calzone would make up for the disappointing bruschetta, it looked appetizing and a good size. We split it up and bit into it, only to find more blandness of cheese and it has very little fennel sausage and mostly soggy spinach. Too much spinach. It was practically a spinach calzone. Not even more salt and marinara sauce could save it. The service left much to be desired. You practically had to hunt down the waiter to request anything you need. We won’t be retuning anytime soon. I think this place thrives with customers because it’s in a nice shopping center but if you have a pallet for flavorful food, stay away. You’re better off going to the Mexican restaurant next door.

Really great place for a NEAPOLITAN pizza. I say that in all caps because as their website explains, their pizza’s are soft and moist in the middle as the Neapolitan’s do. Some of the reviews on here sound like they may have no expected this, and would be better suited to Little Ceasers or Pizza Hut. These pizza’s are actually fresh. We had the Marg. DOC which was fantastic — great tomatoes and amazing buffalo mozzarella. So if you actually want pizza that is authentic, this is the place. Otherwise pick something up at Papa Johns. Also — thank you to the manager who heard my request for more basil! Great service and delicious! Will be back.

Honestly, not really a fan. I had heard good things about this place so I figured I’d give it a shot. I got the spicy salami pizza and the flavor was good, but quality definitely not worth the $ 20.00 I paid for it. It’s not that big, the crust was super soggy, which is the worst thing that can happen to a pizza. The cheese would not stay on, which is a sign of too much oil in the sauce(could also have been oil from the salami). Either way, absolutely not worth the money. Urban Pizza is closer by, cheaper and 100 times better.

Just OK. Service is cold and leaves much to be desired. Warning: They will not make pizza half and half. Our server told us, «We try not to do that,» checked with the kitchen, and told us they weren’t able to make a half Margarita and half Quattro Formaggi pizza. They only have one type of salad dressing and no choice there either. We overheard another party asking for an item they had before(which happened to be on the lunch menu) and the server telling them that it was only available until 3:30pm. They are not accommodating at all. The food was okay, but way overpriced. The salad was very small for $ 14 and the dressing lacked flavor. The pizza was okay, but nothing special, especially for the price. Pizzas only come in one size too. We won’t be returning, as there are better options in town.

It’s a 3.5 with an upside, but downgraded to a 3.0 because they really do need to improve before this Unilocaler will rate them a favorite. After all, there’s a slew of new pizza places, and even though it’s incredibly tasty and arguably the nicest décor, the service was poor — slow service throughout the evening, and cold food. Open for 2 months is long enough not to get the service right. The order ======== 1. Moretti on draft — always good.($ 7, 5.0 stars) 2. Santorini Salad — a little bit of a custom salad, but arugula, beets, feta, tomato, and cucumber with a light dressing made it very yummy.($ 10, 4.0 stars) 3. Umbra Pizza — umbrian black truffles, crimini mushrooms, robiola cheese. Wonderful flavor, loved the cheese, good size(better than expected), crust was a good texture but no taste. Still, would definitely order again($ 21, 4.5 stars). 4. Tropea Pizza — smoked mozzarella, fennel sausage, roasted tropea onions. A sweet flavor with the caramelized onions and fennel, delicious flavor combo with the smokey of the mozzarella and very tasty and sliced thin length-wise sausage($ 19, 4.5 stars). More on the service =============== Super sweet gal, but after she took our order she was non-existent. My beer took over 20 mins to come, and the table next to us were so angry that they had their whole 4-person meal comp’d. When the food did come, it was wrong, and delivered cold twice. Not good. Overall ====== I’ll re-rate them if things improve with the service, as I’d be happy to try it again soon.

There are few places in the area that are able to genuinely pull off a great Italian pizza, but Olio definitely does! The décor throughout the restaurant will have you forgetting that you’re in Westlake as the Italian music takes you straight to Europe. The service was great and the pizza was amazing. The patio is also nice as they have outdoor heaters which make it appealing even late into the night. I hope that Olio pizzeria implements some of the pasta dishes from Olio E Limone(the brother restaurant, located next door). It’s hard to choose between pasta and pizza when you’re eating with a group. Also, I would love to see a «prociutto cotto» pizza on the menu! I will definitely be back and would recommend Olio to all of my friends.

A margarita pizza is a classic. It’s extremely simple, yet can beautiful and delicious in its simplicity. A pizzeria, especially one claiming to be authentically Italian, should make one good margarita pizza. Unfortunately, Olio did not deliver. Food & Drinks: Burrata(2⁄5 stars): I love burrata and get it everywhere I go. Burrata is best when it’s fresh, creamy, and light. While the actual burrata in the dish wasn’t terrible, the veggie ratatouille was overpowering in not a good way. My friend hated it so much she couldn’t eat the burrata at all. Pizza bread(3⁄5 stars): they have a long Italian name for this, but I’m just going to call it by the simple English translation. This was good, but really we only devoured it because we hated everything else. Margarita DOC pizza(2⁄5 stars): we upgraded our pizza from the regular margarita to the D.O.C which is supposed to have better mozzarella, better tomatoes, and just better ingredients all around. Eh nope sorry nothing special. The bread was good, but otherwise tasteless. The tomato sauce was especially a disappointment. An Italian pizzeria should have good tomato sauce! Tasted like it was from a jar. Amalfi Dream(5⁄5 stars): like a lemon drop, but way better. Not very sweet and super refreshing. Service: Terrible! Our waitress was no where to be found after she took our order! We had to ask the busboy to send her when we wanted the check or to order another drink. Plus she wasn’t friendly or helpful when she was taking our order. She couldn’t tell us anything about the food, even though I know for a fact the owners had all staff study and taste all the food. Not all the service was terrible. The hostess and the busboy were great! Ambience: Cozy and intimate, especially for a casual place. Loved the brick walls, wood burning ovens, and outdoor twinkly lights. I’d try the restaurant next door(also Olio) but probably not the pizzeria again.
