To me its just a basic mexican restaurant food wise. I have been here a couple of times and they have updated the menu it’s very extensive. The have a nice bar area and it gets pretty live for Cinco De Mayo. Their margaritas are good and they have 32oz beers. I got their enchiladas with chicken it was pretty good. When I go back I’ll try their guacamole appetizer it looks fresh and their regular guacamole on the side had a good flavor. Their salsa that comes with the chips is good, tip if you get their spicy sauce mix it with their regular because the spicy salsa has no flavor just spice. The bathrooms are hit or miss sometimes not as clean as you would like but it will do.

Since moving to the area from Belleville, This location of Los Amigos has been on the list of places to visit. The Ypsi location has been frequented for their margaritas, but I stopped eating their food(those who visit or read reviews will know why). Full disclosure though, this was not my first choice for Mexican but Ford Rd with a street light out is an ABSOLUTENIGHTMARE to navigate. I mean seriously, why aren’t street lights more reliable if it lightly rains. WHEREISTHEMONEYGOING?! Okay I’m fine. Moving on. This location is very nice inside, very spacious and festively themed. Staff was very helpful and nice. So why the 3 stars? Got sick. Whole story: ordered a fajita and things went downhill from there. I’m usually the garbage man when it comes to food, but literally minutes after starting into my meal I was headed to the bathroom. As I write this 12 hours later I’m still not 100%. Kind of disappointing. Even though it had no flavor, it still tasted different. Not cooked on a cast iron different. Guess I should have taken the hint. I tend to fault places a lot more if I believe it’s intentional but I let up here because it seems like a good place and maybe I just had bad luck that day. I’m usually not a weekend eat out type of guy(food deliveries are usually on weekdays, FYI) but I could try it again if the memory fades away.

Suspicious of the cheese on the enchilada; might that have been some sort of a velveeta product? The salsas seemed fresh; the regular was mild, fine for normal Midwesterners, and the special request hot version was exceptional… and hot indeed.(The owner commented below, seeming to indicate that the cheese is all real, not anything like velveeta. If he explicitly confirms that they use only real cheese, I will happily upgrade my review.) The margaritas are available with fresh juice, but shame on them for even having«sweet and sour mix», much less boasting of it on the drink menu. I hear they have an awesome Monday margarita happy day price. I’ll return for a fresh assessment, at the bar. A New Mexican joint is opening nearby, On the Border, an upscale chain, and the facility looks fully in step with the food moment, complete with a large selection of craft beer taps. I hope that Los Amigos steps up its game, because I’d like to see a local, independant restaurant shine. I would like to see Los Amigos’ margarita menu stress fresh juice«real» margaritas, with artisan liquors, and banish«sweet and sour» and other mix shortcuts. I hope to upgrade my review! I will say that the times I’ve attended, there were plenty of happy-looking Westlanders.

Still loving Los Amigos. Fajita Nachos is now our new favorite! If you haven’t yet stopped in here, do yourself a favor and go today! It’s not the average sloppy Mexican food place. Lots of care is put into their dishes. Ask your waitstaff to recommend what they like. It’s how we’ve had the best experiences here. And if the guacamole lady is there, order it made fresh at your table. Delicious!

Their made-at-your-table guacamole is incredible; and I HATE guacamole. Bonus stars for that. Didn’t have to ask for anything, wait staff was on it before I could even ask for anything. The one downfall, which seems common with all Don Juan restaurants, the red sauce is identical to Chef Boyardee’s tomato sauce. Nasty. I would totally come here again as long as I request no red sauce on anything.

Food is great. Guacamole is AWESOME. Wait staff will never get a full tip. They never smile nor interact with the customers.

1st time yesterday around 3:30pm. The salsa was good, but the food average at best. I had the enchiladas poblano… only a moderate amount of tasteless ground beef in one and some bland chicken in the other, very little spice or seasoning. The«rojo» sauce reminded me of Hormel chili from a can, tasty but not what I’m paying $ 10.99 for at a Mexican restaurant. I wish that I’d seen all these mixed reviews beforehand, I’d have driven down to S.W. Detroit for a better experience overall. Next time I’ll go the distance for a sure thing. Hopefully the manager who reads and comments on these posts will honestly look at the hit or miss quality and other things guests point out and make changes.

The best thing about this restaurant was the server we had(Sarah B.) We decided to visit this place while participating in the All American Cruise in Westland. I probably would have given this place 3 stars had it not been the attitude of the«manager». I ordered and was served a «Sangria». I make my own at home and this just didn’t seem right. It tasted like a cheap Lambrusco with chunks of green apple(no other fruits). Our server informed me that they use the BOTTLED Sangria(that you pay $ 8 for at Kroger and then apparently charge ME $ 7 for a glass!). I asked the server if she could please replace the Sangria with a Frozen Margarita(easy enough). She went to do just that, and came back to tell me that«the manager wants to make you his OWN Sangria». I, having apparently no choice, agreed to try it, although a GOOD Sangria should be given TIME to sit and meld. 10 minutes… 15 minutes… Our food arrived. NOSANGRIA! Finally the server brought me a large shot glass of what I can only describe as(overwhelming) Tequila, Red Wine and a possible lemon/lime Soda. It was WRETCHED! I couldn’t drink that! I waited for THAT?!? After having been held«cocktail hostage» for so long, I thought that I would get something amazing! Eventually I got my Frozen Margarita(which was REALLY good). How presumptuous to think that you can TELL your customer that they CAN’T have something different UNTIL they try yours! Insulting! The Food: The Guacamole, which they claim was made in house, was SO salty, but my husband liked it.)! We ordered the Parillada for One. It was pretty good! A touch greasy, but tons of flavor! The rice was«ok»(it wasn’t my Mother’s). The Pico looked fresh. If I had to rate this JUST on the food, I would have given it 3 stars… Will I go back? Probobly not.

How long does it take to make 2 enchiladas and a kids meal? It was Almost an hour before the waitress realized that our order was not being made. When we questioned her she came back with the ticket saying she put it in but they didn’t prepare for some reason. I should have asked for the manager but I just wanted to pay for my drinks and get out of there. There was no «I’m sorry» or anything. They usually have great food and service. How can you run a business without good service?

Everything came out wrong. Chicken tenders were burned. Manager was helpful with trying to get things replaced, but did not remove items from the bill. Food was just OK. Probably will not return.

Hands down the WORST restaurant around. AWFUL service, AWFUL food, AWFUL margaritas… and the place is dirty. Employees standing around ignoring clearly dissatisfied customers. If I ever step foot in this place again I will kill myself. If you must go avoid the cat food nachos.(I think they call them«nachos supreme»)

WORSTSERVICEANDFOOD! I had Los amigos in Kentucky before and it’s better than this. The salsa was horrible and my friend ordered red wine and said it tasted beyond outdated. Then the waitress gets an attitude with my grandmother and starts snickering at me about my grandmother! Never coming back!

First time there tonight. Heres the lowdown. Highly recommended. food: I had a three taco plate, your choice of meats. I chose steak, tilapia, and carnitas(pork). Steak was cooked perfectly and well seasoned. The tilapia was fresh and light, and the carnitas was salty but had a rich meaty flavor. They gave you two shells in each taco and enough meat to fill three. No joke. one kid meal order has enough to feed two kids so save some money there. Service: everything was well orchestrated from host to server to meal on the table. Great service from our server magdalena. Sunday nights there is a mariachi band which kept our young kids entertained. Price: two adult meals and two kid meals, a soda, beer and milk for 39.xx. We will be back alot

This place is always a thumbs up with our group, and with a few pinky eaters it’s hard to find a place where we all want to go. The food is always good, and it’s never super expensive. The combos are always my go to so I can get a little of everything I like, and they are super affordable. If you go during happy hour, the margarita deals are awesome! The only reason I knocked it down one star was because depending on who you have waiting on your table, you may get a very nice helpful waitress, or someone who can not refill your glass of water, no matter how many times you ask.

The food was decent, hot and served as expected. The BIGDEAL on this trip was the absolutely SUPERB server we had. Wish I would have gotten her name! I left a $ 10 tip on a $ 15 check… YES, she was THAT good!

This is the best Mexican ever — and I’m picky! Service is excellent. The prices will make you think it’s cheapo Mexican but it’s authentic all the way! I’d like to add that the owner of this place really takes pride in making this a great place. After posting my review he contacted me and asked me what made it so great! That’s the kind of place I want to do business with. Try it out — you will NOT be disappointed!

Not bad at all. I ate everything on my plate. Both chicken chimichangas, the guac salad and beans. Our table of 4 ate so many chips and drank so much Dos Equis that our chip basket had to be refilled 4 times. Our waitress was friendly. One person at our table poured his beer so fast that he had some overflow with the head… Another waiter saw and came to our table and joked about it. The waitstaff was not only attentive, they were fun. They understood that people sometimes turn into half idiots during happy hour.
