Macy’s

If you like macy’s you know it’s all about searching their clearance racks, stacking coupons and good customer service! I haven’t actually bought anything at this store yet, but I had a terrible experience at the shoes department which would make me hesitate to come back! I saw pair of discounted MK flats 2 days earlier in their fairlane branch, I was too rushed to pick them up so i decided to stop by at Westland. I saw the same pair minus the discount tag, I checked with one of the sales guys and it was full price when he rang it, I tried it on, didn’t think they were very comfortable but for a bargain I would get them. I decided to double check by a vested sales guy, thinking the vest comes with a managerial spot. Again, despite me explaining that I saw the same shoes discounted they insisted they were different. Now if I was in love with them, I would have made sure they picked up the phone and double checked. There’s no reason a customer should pay more than what they are expected. I did ask if any of the coupons work and they insisted they don’t. I felt I was asking them for a favor rather than a service they are expected to provide. I am taking my shopping away from this moldy place to twelve Oaks, where a great sales lady did 8 seperate transactions for me once to make sure I maxed out on savings. Granted We spent close to a $ 1000 at the time.

We took our daughter and her BFF up to the mall to spend their Easter money/​gift cards this evening. We generally walk 50−100ft behind them just to make sure they don’t act like assbags. Which, I have to say, they are always very well behaved. We literally got to watch the girls be profiled by two different sales people at Macy’s Department store. Because you know, a white teen and a black teen are always up to no good. The best part was calling the sales associates out on their poor behavior. Which I did. Explicitly and thoroughly. Tomorrow starts the calls to corporate. These companies need to get it through their thick skulls that the young shoppers that they alienate now, are the adults that will shop elsewhere in the future

FINALLY!!! My childhood Hudson’s is getting a makeover!!! So exciting to see what is happening at Macy’s at Westland. I have written this store off for years with the exception of the fragrance counter due to the merchandise selection being either too urban or too dowdy for my taste. I made the Briarwood my primary store, and 12 Oaks my back up when shopping at Macy’s. However, I popped into the Westland store a few weeks ago for a quick blouse purchase and was surprised to see the men’s fragrance counter behind black curtain and the merchandise moved up front by the rest of the fragrances. The children’s department is now in the Men’s department and Men’s is in Juniors. It looks GREAT! On the 2^nd floor, I was SO happy to see I-​N-​C, more Ralph Lauren, RL Denim & Supply, Lucky Brand, Bar III, and Silver Jeans joining Alfani, Style & Co, and a much better dress and suit selection. Michael Kors has a counter on the first floor, and I understand the Coach counter is moving and expanding. Can’t wait to see what else they have in store. Hopefully, it will get a complete facelift and return to its former glory back in the days of Hudson’s. I’ll be watching to see how it progresses and if they earn 4 or 5 stars.

I had a great experience the last time I went it. The associate in handbags Amanda was very pleasant and provided me with outstanding customer service. She made sure I was able to process my exchange with no hassle. With the help of her department manager Bob. He was a total sweetheart. He made sure I got what I needed and stayed at the register assisting Amanda for the entirety of my transaction. Talk about dedication! Bob and Amanda are great examples of employees who put their customer’s needs first. They listened to me and made sure I walked out of their store satisfied with my purchase. Thanks to he pair of you and keep up the Amazing job!

The perfume department leaves much to be desired. The sales associates knowledge of perfume is practically NIL. They only carry 2 Christian Dior perfumes! (J’adore and Miss Dior). I asked for Hypnotic Poison and the lady told me they haven’t carried it in years but she could order it for me or I could go to the Briarwood Macy’s or Twelve Oaks Macy’s. I said «No, that’s fine, neither of those work for me, and I live 45 mins away, so I’ll just find it somewhere else.» She kept trying to persuade me anyway that it really was in my best interest, which was annoying me. She said «Well, the closest thing would probably be «Versace Crystal». I said «No thank you», so she insisted on giving me a sample, so i waited while she got me a trio sample that included Versace Crystal Noir, Bright Crystal, and Yellow Diamond. I thought that was quite nice! :)

Horrible unfriendly sales people in the misses department they make customers feel like they are doing us a favor, when i was paying for my item they were rude busy talking amongs themselves also. It iis almost like I dread shopping in that department sometimes I go to kohls so I don’t have to deal with there bad moods. They have been working there to long and don’t appreciate there jobs. They need be replaced, with someone who has people skills and is friendly

I’ve been here several times because I live at the landings apartments across the street and EVERY TIME the service is trash. Not ONCE has any employee come up to me asking if I need assistance (which I usually do because I hate clothes shopping and avoid doing it at all costs). When I make an effort to ask for help, the staff usually gives the most basic answer possible and goes back to folding clothes or whatever.
My first time at the store, a man there actually got angry at me for trying on clothes leaving them in the changing room (I had ever intention on buy them). He made me so upset I just paid for what I had in my hand and left immediately.
Usually, I don’t let one employee ruin the store for me but when I came back the second and third time with similar, terrible service results, I’ve given up giving them a chance.
There are WAY too many places to get affordable clothes in the area to waste your time at this place.

This was my Hudson’s growing up. Then it was Marshall Field’s. Now it’s a Macy’s. It’s still an ok place to shop.
I do much prefer this Macy’s locale to the one in Novi and it edges out Ann Arbor oh so slightly for some departments. All Macy’s across the board are slightly schitzophrenic with their pricing. Some things can be unbelievable steals, sales can be über ridiculously cheap, especially with the coupons they run. Some things though, even on sale and with a coupon are shockingly still overpriced. I cannot wrap my head around it.
Here I seem to have the most luck on the adventure that is a Macy’s excursion. You have to look through disorganized crap a lot but I do usually manage to scam at least one or two shiny gems of a bargain here on each occasion. They could make life easier though and I would be here much more often.
Sometimes I’m the mood for shopping here but sometimes I’m just not up to it. My husband definitely lacks the patience for it so if I’m here he is usually either munching cookies at Mrs Field’s or getting a coffee at the Beanery.
