T L C Auto Wash

As it is close to home I bought some pre paid cards to save a bit of cash. They do a pretty decent job of prepping vehicle before sending through the tunnel. The best part is upon exiting tunnel there are two people waiting to towel dry your car before the water freezes.
The do detail work as well but I won’t do this in the winter. Seems like a waste of money.

Last year, this was my go-​to place for my new car. Out in Milford, you have to contend with hard water and getting stuck behind a truck that was just off-​roading, so I searched far and wide for something around Westland with soft brushes, and found TLC. I had been going two or three times a week.
Then something changed. I suspect new ownership, because two people I hadn’t recognized were working on that fateful day, and one guy said something to the other (it wasn’t in a language I spoke) and next thing I knew at the end of the wash, the guy with the towel is pointing at my hood.
«That’s wax or something, bro.»
Wax? Huh? Suddenly, the other guy pops up out of nowhere, and more «wax» mysteriously appears on my hood.
Oh, he’s got just the thing to take it off. It’s special and organic, and for me… only five bucks.
I know this scam pretty well, and I also know that they basically had me over a barrel. Drive off and let it actually screw up the paint, or try and take it off myself without knowing which solvent I need.
I handed the guy a $ 10 bill, and was treated to a very dramatic cleaning. After asking for my change twice, I was able to recover $ 5.
It was a decent wash (before this incident, which ultimately left my hood looking awful until I got another wash), but after that shady nonsense, they’ll never see me again.
