Recently tried the turkey noodle soup. I am kind of picky about soup, and theirs was excellent and very filling.

Food is ok… Good home cooking but not very many healthy options. My big big complaint is it is very dirty.

Our party of six enjoyed our meal at Baugher’s. The place is not fancy(more old-fashioned) with an extensive menu, including a wide selection of sides and desserts. I was initially uneasy. A sign said, «Please Sit Yourself,» which meant that we walked around, unacknowledged by anyone, looking for a table that would be big enough. Three waitresses were together, one putting together place settings at a counter and one eating at a table while a third chatted with her in a gossipy tone. Meanwhile, there were un-bussed dirty tables about. The only table big enough was cleared but not clean, and my wife cleaned it with antibacterial soap. One chair was wet with a soda spill and I exchanged the chair with a nearby table. The carpet was very dirty and near our table was a dead bug on its back. Unfortunately, as others have mentioned, we were also bothered by bugs(gnats in this case) throughout the meal. Our waitress ended up being nice and attentive, and our food(consisting mainly of their many vegetarian sides) was good to very good. In particular, the fresh hot dinner rolls were a nice way to start the meal. Their simple grilled cheese sandwich was terrific. Their homemade potato salad was also a standout. Also liked were the corn fritters, apple fritters, and mac & cheese. One of our guests had a huge burger with bacon and an egg, which he said was pretty good. Several of us ended the meal with their good homemade ice cream. Given their reasonable prices and fine selection of good, homemade food, we would love to give them an even higher rating. Perhaps next time, the dining area will have a cleaner carpet, no bugs, and clean tables & chairs.

With baked goods and entrees made from scratch, you can’t go wrong with the home-style, American cuisine this place has to offer! Pretty much everything on the menu is delicious and the prices are very affordable! My personal favorites are their pies and the hot turkey slices smothered in warm brown gravy.

I visit every couple weeks when I want some good, hot, comfort food. Their specials are usually pretty good(& creative) & their turkey & dressing is awesome. Soups are usually very good. There have been a few instances of not so friendly waitresses but not usually. I am not a fan of their burgers & last time I went, our dessert was freezer burnt. Otherwise pretty consistent good food & service.

Great and super quick service. We ordered children’s pancakes Fish quessidas, Chipped beef and biscuits Boston cream pie(it was little too sweet for my taste, but still want bad) Black walnut cake. The cake itself was moist and very tasty. I didn’t care for the cream on the top or the middle asit was too sweet. But once it moved the rest went down rather quickly ;) Kids got icecream and ice cream soda both were also delicious

We just discovered this truly classic American experience and will make it a regular stop. They have lines, yes. But that’s to be expected when the food and service is this good! We had Baugher Burgers followed by the absolute BEST Chocolate & Peanut Butter Pie either of us ever experienced! Can’t wait to go back!

I always enjoy coming here. It is a good, classic staple of Americana and I love it! Food is good and hearty but not fancy, and appropriately priced. Dinner, drink, dessert, and coffee for my husband and I cost about $ 30. I had a hot turkey sandwich and egg custard pie for dessert-where else can you find one of those in this day and age but at classic Baughers!

Can’t eat at the restaurant anymore, since I am allergic to gross FULL fly strips hanging over tables…& an army of fat flies flitting all around. However, I remain a fan of the Farm Stand. Their delicious No Sugar Added Apple Butter is the best. The in-season produce from their farm is more flavorful than any grocery offerings. The ice cream is always a delight. Their Snow Cone stand is a regular stop in the summer(ever tried the blueberry cream? Better than a creamsicle!!) Oh, and I love ordering pies at holiday times the pumpkin and apple are great. We availed ourselves of the annual Free Easter Egg hunt when the kids were younger. This is a local, family business, and they do a lot in the community. So, on the strength of the Farm Stand, Baughers gets 4 stars from me.

On Saturday morning my husband, cousin and I headed to Carroll County for a morning of apple picking when, unfortunately, the skies opened up and it started to rain. Despite it being only a light drizzle we were told that apple picking was called off for the day, even once the rain stopped, because it would be muddy.(You would think that the fact that it was muddy would be more of a concern to me than them but evidently they have strict orchard rules…) Since we were in the area, anyway, we decided to make the best of the day by heading to Baugher’s for lunch! I used to come here a lot as a little girl and have a lot of really fond memories, despite the apple head man being borderline terrifying to look at. Neither my husband nor cousin had ever been here, so I was excited to show them this down home, country, farm restaurant! Pretty much everything was exactly as I had remembered. It’s very much no frills, and is a cross between a Cracker Barrel and a local diner. It’s a great place for big portions and comfort food. My husband and I each got burgers, which were fine, albeit nothing to write home about. They also don’t come with fries or anything, so we split a side basket of fries(which was enough for 2 people to share). The fries were much more impressive because you could tell that they were hand cut. My cousin got the hot hamburger, which is essentially a hamburger and fries completely and utterly slathered in gravy. Personally, I strongly dislike gravy, so even looking at it made my stomach turn a little bit. I mean, this was a LOT of gravy. She, on the other hand, LOVES gravy and ultimately loved this meal. If you love gravy… just check out the photo… We were too stuffed for a slice of pie or ice cream, which is kind of a shame because I remember the pies being really good. Because the burger was just fair I would actually come back just for fries and pie one day.(Fries and pies!) We went to the little market next door, which was really nice. The veggies looked great and there was a really good selection. We picked up apple cider doughnuts and a small sugar free apple pie to bring home. Both were not very good. Like, at all. The apple cider doughnuts we actually ended up throwing out because they were so dry. I wouldn’t say anyone should go out of their way to come here, but if you’re in the area and looking for a good, hearty meal then this is a place that probably won’t disappoint. Also I would totally come back here just for the fresh produce!!! If you’re in Westminster why would you go to the supermarket for veggies when you could just stop here and get it straight from the farm?

I was worried about this place only having 3 stars, but my friend and I thought it was great! Homestyle diner with friendly waitress. After asking what was popular, I ordered the hot turkey with French fries. It was really good comfort food. My friend had the big bubba fish special and corn fritters. Both were very good. She also had the crab soup. It was not what we expected being a vegetable broth style, but it was very flavorful with a kick. We went for peach desserts, since it is peach season. I had peach pie with vanilla ice cream and it was Awesome!!! My friend chose the shortcake and was a little disappointed because the cake was more sponge type than biscuit like. We would come again for sure!!!

My family and I have gone to this restaurant for years! We’ve had many good times there, thanks to a church friend who recommended it to us years ago. The food is what I call country cooking and it’s both wholesome and plentiful. I love the Turkey Dinner offered every Sunday, but today I had the Roast Beef with green beans and mashed potatoes. It was all fresh and delicious as were the homemade yeast rolls. Always save room for the delicious fruit pies that are made of fruit grown on their own farm. Plan on visiting the market next door to purchase the finest in fruit and vegetables. This place is a Maryland treasure!

We discovered Baughers, the restaurant, on our quest for local unprocessed honey. What a find! This is a Westminster institution since 1948. It is homey food, plentiful and reasonably priced: great place for family dinners. Fried chicken is my weakness and I was blown away by their chicken. The four piece platter is huge! I like it when you are able to order the exact pieces that you want. Be prepared to wait for the chicken to fry because it comes to you directly out of the frier, super crunchy, hot, moist! The platters come with two rolls and two sides. We chose the french fries, apple fritters, potato salad and cole slaw. They tasted exactly the way your grandmother would make them. The menu has something for everyone and children eat free on Mondays. The dessert menu features all manner of pies and ice creams. The waitstaff couldn’t have been nicer.

If you want good, old-fashioned country cooking that will remind you of family gatherings at Grandma’s house, then Baugher’s is the place to go! I’ve been going here for a couple of years now and it never disappoints. On Sundays they have a Roast Turkey and Dressing platter that is killer. You can order it with all white meat or a mix of white and dark, and it tastes like Thanksgiving all year round. The corn fritters are good, and their homemade Blue Cheese dressing is fantastic. They have desserts that are made from scratch and really good as well. I’ve had the Apple Dumpling and the Crumb-topped Apple pie… both excellent. The décor of the restaurant isn’t modern by any means, but the place is always clean. The staff is friendly and the service is always quick, even when the restaurant is busy. There is a market attached to the restaurant where they sell all kinds of their baked goods, homemade apple sauce, and a good variety of fresh produce. After dinner I always hit the market and pick up some farm fresh fruits and veggies. I definitely recommend Baugher’s, for lunch or dinner, if you’re looking for some good homemade food at a reasonable price.

If you grew up in Westminster you know all about Baughers. As a child I would eat here at least once a week usually on Sundays with my grandparents. Now that I’m an adult and live in another state its harder to get to Baughers but when I do it never disappoints. On Sundays they have there roast turkey platter. Its like a Thanksgiving dinner anytime. You can choose between dark meat, white meat or a mix of both. I always get the mix. It also comes with two sides. My side selections are always the same, corn fritters and mac and cheese even though they have a bunch of everyday sides and some daily specials. I also order a side salad with bleu cheese dressing. The dressing is homemade with small chucks of blue cheese. The prices are fair and the atmosphere is what you would expect from a country restaurant that has been around for as long as I could remember. Depending the time of day you go you could be waiting in a line that can stretch out the door and into the parking lot. The service is fast and very friendly. After your meal you can walk next door to there market. Fresh fruit(in season) and vegetables right from there orchard. Fresh breads and other pastries too. Baughers will always be a family favorite of ours

I can’t believe my fellow Unilocalers have given this place an overall 3 star rating?. I’m glad I didn’t go by the reviews and took my family here for the first time tonight, Despite my occasionally wailing 1 yr old everyone was so welcoming here. They even brought me a plate of hot rolls for the baby(she was hungry) before we ordered. Well the fried chicken was amazing. Perfectly seasoned huge pieces. Addictive crunchy breading. Just about everything is scratch made here from the fantastic bread, pies, ice cream(not to be missed). We enjoyed the corn fritters, cheesy mac and cheese, creamy cole slaw, Apple wood chicken and apple cider to drink. So many options for dessert. They have a huge selection of pies and sundae treats. The ice cream reminds me of my great grandmothers and I haven’t had anything like hers since she passed in 1985. The lines are long on the weekend(we tried but gave up Sunday). But don’t let that deter you. It’s worth the wait. Or come back on a weekday. Kids eat free on Mondays too. We didn’t wait at all for a table tonight :-).
