My first fond memory of this place was a couple years ago when my mom hastily bought me a pastry here while we were wandering into Asian Garden Mall. She had already walked deeper into the plaza, but I was frozen in my tracks a little ways from the bakery as my taste buds melted into euphoria after that first bite. It was their pudding bread. From that day forward, I never looked back. It’s a plain looking bakery, nothing fancy. However, you can tell by the locals that sit outside in the tables and chairs everyday that it’s a business that has been around and serves familiar faces. There are cakes, breads, an assortment of snacks, boba, and refrigerated drinks. The breads used to be a little cheaper a while back, but not by much. There are savory and sweet breads galore! Ham and cheese, bacon and cheese, shredded pork, hot dog buns, taro, red bean, sweet cream cheese, coconut/raisin, pandan/raisin, custard, vanilla cream, durian, pineapple, butter croissants. My favorites are the pandan, butter croissants, and of course, pudding bread. They always run a buy 5, get 1 free promotion. Cash only. In short, get the pudding bread.

Not the best place for baked goods as it is a hit or miss on how much filling you get in each bread, but I always make a pit stop here when I am at the Asian Garden Mall – it’s either just tradition or a habit. Prices used to be $ 1.35 per goodie but now they are $ 1.50 each, while still using the«buy 5 get the 6th free» deal which means«let me load up my tray». If you do plan on grabbing a multiple variety of their baked goods but don’t know what the toppings or red dots mean for each, my best tip is to bring a permanent marker and check off the selection on the wrapper which ones they are, or take a picture to help you remember what they look like… or you can Russian roulette the whole thing. This is the only place my mom knows of that sells both meat pâté chaud and a vegetarian version(you have to ask the lady at the register if there are any left), and both are good. They do offer slices of cake, rolls, as well as canned drinks, and accept cash only, I believe. They have one of those old registers that shows just price value and total on the receipts.

The baked goods here are both delicious and inexpensive. I’m a fan of the cream cheese and egg custard buns, and the coconut raisin bread is also great. These items are popular and sometimes run out before I arrive. One star off for poor customer service. I once ordered an avocado smoothie. The avocados used were rotten, and when I told the worker, she insisted they were still good and refused to make another or provide a refund.

They sold me the shredded pork(cha bong) that have MOLD! I came back the next day to return it to them and said I wanted my money back. The lady, who was so rude, said no refund but she did give me a new one. She literally threw it into my face! I would never go back to this horrible place!

Not the best breads but its a good price for them. Usually I stop here whenever I’m in Phuoc Loc Tho, its also conveniently located near the exit to where I park. Compared to other Asian bread places like 85 Degrees or Paris Baguette, Champagne Bakery isn’t as good but will do in filling any cravings. Most of their breads are good but I highly recommend the cream cheese, taro and durian coconut fillings. Usually I like getting the bbq pork but I’m not feeling the ones here. They also sell other snacks here as well that you would usually find in Asian supermarkets. During the right seasons they also do moon cakes as well but never tried them here. Overall its a decent bakery, doesn’t hurt to try it since the prices are really good.

Everything made here is so fresh and the owners are so nice. I also love the workers because they’re so nice!

Although they don’t have as much as Paris Baguette, etc. their bread is very tasty and fresh. They pack it up right after its been baked and put it out so people can buy. And although they don’t have much variety of bread, its the«main»(asian/chinese ?) types of bread such as vanilla custard filling bread, or coconut, etc. It’s also very cheap. Its Buy 5 get 1 free and each bread is $ 1.35. Plus they have other little things just in case you wanna buy them, like sodas or candy. I personally love this place. I always get the vanilla custard bread. I recommend this place~

Although we are from San Diego, we always stop by this bakery for the freshly baked coconut and raisin bread. No other similar bread compares! The loaf is filled with lots of raisins and coconut. It is buttery and flakey. Mmm. We get at least several loaves at a time! Yum. We can’t wait to eat more! We were disappointed when they closed the shop for a day to attend a graduation. It was nice that they typed up the notice. PLEASE open a bakery in San Diego or partner with another business.

Not that great but it’s convenient if you’re inside the Asian Garden Mall already. Living very close to Little Saigon, I’ve stopped by whenever it was convenient and the only thing worth getting is the: –Green onions & dried pork bread: Dried pork is on the sweet side but it’s still okay –Cream cheese bread: Warm cream cheese filled bread. Best when fresh. Selection is pretty small but it’s cheap and buy 5 get 1 free. CASHONLY.

After eating at Phở 79 next door, I decided to swing by this bakery and pick up a few items for quick and easy baked goods for breakfast/lunch throughout the week. What’s great is that they have a Buy 5 Get 1 Free, with most buns being around $ 1.35 each and you know they’re fresh when you can still see the slight condensation and feel the warmness. Even better is that the texture still retains integrity after refrigeration and a little microwaving. Here are my favorites so far… –chicken curry bun –taro or red bean bun

I have this place bookmarked for a while now and I finally got the opportunity to try it. TIP #1: IT’S INSIDETHEASIANGARDENMALL. Towards the back if you enter through the front. TIP #2: Small pastries are pretty cheap. I got a large piece of bread and a small pastry from $ 2.70. BUT… I must have chosen the wrong thing!!! I was looking at all the goodies, there was the requisite egg custard mini pie/tart which is always a crowd pleaser… an individual chicken pot pie whose crust looked so flaky… I skipped all those and went with something that I don’t usually see in other bakeries, you know, to give me something to back to. But I didn’t like them. I saw a lady packaging this soft roll filled with the same custard filling you put in a cream puff. It was large and came right out of the kitchen. It was just below«OK.» I felt I wasted my caloric budget on it. Then there was this taro ball. If you’re Filipino, the closest thing I could compare it to is «hopia» or «moon pie» for the Chinese. The inside is made of bean paste and it was wrapped in a taro-marbled raw-tasting dough. Yup, the wrapper tasted like raw flour.

I’m a regular here and have been coming here for the past 20 years. They offer tasty vietnamese style baked goods ranging from $ 1.25 to 2 bucks. It’s a small business, but you can definitely smell the goodness from a ways away. Get the bacon and scallion bun for $ 1.35. It has bacon so do you really need a reason to try it? :)

Not the worst but not the best either. The cake quality is on the low side but very cheap. Okay breads. Ban bao, cheap but really doughy and heavy. If you buy 5 bbq pork buns you get the 6th one free. Not a bad place to go if you’re low on cash and need carbs asap.

Greasy & Yeasty I agree with Ching C. on this one, why are there so many haters? Champagne Bakery is an awesome little place to purchase some tasty breads, buns, and other Vietnamese baked goods. The price range is average for these types of goodies @ about $ 1.25 to $ 2.00 for single items. The selection isn’t the biggest but I can find a lot of my favorites here. I’ve been to plenty of bakeries like this one and I must say Champagne is generous in the portion department and don’t lack on any of the key ingredients. For example, my taro bun had a nice thick ball of that light purple stuff. While other places don’t nearly come close to being as plentiful. In my opinion, the quality and taste is good though there’s always room for improvement. If your accustomed to another bakery, just be warned and your discretion is advised. :) Everything I’ve had here was good but of course they are at their best when fresh &/or straight out the oven. Even so, I would buy what I wanted and pop them into the toaster oven @ home for a yummy, fresh-tasting treat.

As a proud fake Viet(aka Chinese person who was raised with the Vietnamese language and culture), I’d have to say that the epitome of all my generation’s vietnamese snack foods can be found in this bakery. Everything’s baked fresh daily and hot, and you don’t need to be a connoisseur of baked goods to know this. The moment you walk by, the captivating scent of sweet breads lures you in. My favorite is the ham and cheese but I know I’d try everything in the bakery if my waistline allowed it. The prices are fairly low and you can indulge all you want :) I advise warming up any of the treats for a few seconds in the microwave if eating anytime after the day you bought them ;)

As you walk by the fragrance of baked good is just intoxicating!!! I literally said«If they made an airfreshener with this scent, I’d buy it and put it everywhere in the house!!!» A good amount of the baked items were fresh out of the oven. SCORE! I grabbed an egg custard bun, ham and cheese bun, taro bun and a loaf of coconut, raisin bread. I see raisin bread all the time, but coconut, raisin? Different… I MUSTHAVEIT! The ham and cheese were my least favorite because I wasn’t too found of the ham or cheese they use, the bread was great nonetheless. The coconut, raisin didn’t have the flavor I thought i was going to have, but it was yummy and the bread was amazingly soft!!! The taro bun was good! Told my boyfriend it tasted nasty so he wouldn’t try any. It didn’t work, he ate some. :( The egg custard was our favorite because of the great flavor, smooth texture, and the bread just bounces right back after you bite into it all while keeping it’s softness. THISCARB-LOVERLIKE!!! I can’t wait to go back and eat more!

This bakery has been around for 15+ yrs. It’s still owned by the same owner :) I think they must be happy with what they do for a living. I would be too, if I get to smell all those Yummy breads all day long ;) anyways. go on the pastries. I got the cream cheese bread and the sesame bread today. first of all. It is so fresh. must just came out from the oven. Yum. :) i always loved the cream cheese bread, it just perfectly flaky on the outside, soft and creamy on the inside. what a great combo. then on the sesame bread. it is with black sesame paste inside. i think this must be the owner’s creation, I have not seem anything like this in any of the bakery store I have been to. go check out this little bakery shop inside the Asian Mall. you will be blown away.

I’m surprised that the reviews of this establishment aren’t better. They had a great selection of pastries and buns and the prices were reasonable. I came here specifically for steamed bbq pork buns, but also picked up steamed pork/egg buns(more on that later), baked bbq pork buns, taro buns, and Palmiers AKA«Butterfly» cookies. I had to ask for the steamed buns since they were on a rack behind the counter. Me, «Do you have BBQ pork buns… like dumplings.» Didn’t know proper name was«steamed.» She grabbed me a package and said do you want BBQ or combo? Since Variety is the spice of life, I opted for combo thinking it would be BBQ and something else. ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Unfortunately, the pack of 6 steamed buns were all egg/pork«combo» and NOBBQ. Thankfully, they were yummy so i am not totally heartbroken. My boyfriend had never had either so he couldn’t truly understand my pain. «Let it go», he said. «Let it go.» I improvised by removing the BBQ pork from the baked bun and stuffing it into the steamed bun(removed original contents of course). On this evening, it was good enough for me! I will be back!

Poor selection of the Asian-style breads we are used to seeing in other Asian bakeries. They do sell buns and ‘man tous’ as well. On top of the baked goods, they also sell snacky stuff and cakes by the slice. The smell lured me in, but nothing grabbed my attention enough to wanna eat it.
