They go an extra mile with their selections(look at the other reviews as well). I am very impressed because this is probably the only liquor store(within a 50 mile radius of where I live) that sells the Original Sin Hard Cider from NY. The other liquor stores only have the very common hard ciders: Woodchuck or Angry Orchard.

Cranberry Liquors has an average beer and wine selection as far I am concerned but if you are looking for a lesser found spirit, Cranberry is the place to go. I’m a big scotch, bourbon and tequila fan. Whenever I need a new bottle, I head to Cranberry because they have a huge selection. Whether I’m restocking a favorite or in the mood to try something new, I know Cranberry will have what I want. I have visited most of the major liquor stores in North Eastern Carroll County(Hampstead, Westminster, Finksburg, etc) and their scotch selection is unmatched. They even have quite a few of those couple hundred dollar bottles that I’ll buy first thing after I win the lottery. Their prices are a little higher but usually this can be mitigated with the coupons that can be found on the website. I’ve forgotten it and showed it to them from my phone and accepted it. If you are looking for a good spirit selection and perhaps something a little harder to find, Cranberry probably has it. If they don’t, their staff is very friendly and accommodating and can help you find it.

This store features a great selection. Plenty of interesting beers — imports, micro-brews, etc. Plenty of cheap jugs of wine. Plenty of liquors, liqueurs, etc. On the other end of the spectrum, if you really want to spend $ 300 on a bottle of cognac, or find a 5L bottle of vintage Bordeaux … they have that too. For the wine snobs — like me — there’s always something interesting to be found, they have a broad selection of all the WS, WE, and WA reviewed stuff you are looking for, plus there’s often some older vintage stuff hanging around. A few years ago, I opened a 98 Beaucastel CDP at a dinner party that had been in my cellar for years. It was stunning. The next day I went to Cranberry and found one remaining 1.5L bottle of it — on sale(this was several years post-release). I saw plenty of other historical items there just today, just waiting for a treasure hunter to snag. Check their web site before you go — , there is almost always a 20% off coupon for 750ml bottles(and they have a 10/15% mixed/full case discount also). A few years ago, I’d have given them 6 stars, because there were a string of deeply knowledgable wine geeks staffing the store. I could literally walk in with a menu, and walk out with a dozen brilliant matches they they knew I’d like. And I could special order just about anything. There’s been turnover, and the current crew is certainly nice … but just not operating at the same level of knowledge. I have had a few issues trying to order stuff in. Even so, the store is well worth a visit if you know what you are looking for …

Full disclosure — this is an indirect client of mine. With that out of the way, today was my first visit to Cranberry and it may have had the most impressive selection of wines and spirits of any of the 7 liquor stores I visisted. From top class Bordeaux(with some bottle age) to easy to gulp jug wine, single malt Scotch to rot-gut hip flask vodka. They will have just about anything to make your liver dislike you and your mouth smile. I couldn’t resist stocking up on some 2005 German Reisling for the wine cellar at home.
