They are absolutely great! Their tofu deserts and freshly made soy milk are to die for. Refreshing and delicious. It’s a really small, «mom and pop» shop feel, apparently all surrounding restaurants get their tofu deserts from them. I’ll definitely return.

My Brother was ragging on my Mom, his Wife and I for liking Tan Tan Tofu for their small cubed tofu infused with lemongrass and mushrooms, and so he took us here to his favorite tofu place. Not impressed. They do have tofu infused with lemongrass, but with chili flakes –_– Also, they’re the big tofu and not the small cubed bite size ones. Oh no! Mom and I do not like chili flakes — we can’t handle hot. So much for trying to like this place(at least for me). They don’t even have the tofu cubed infused with lemongrass and mushrooms either, urgh! Also, the only small tofu cubes they have are the plain ones. No, no, no… I’ll stick with my Tan Tan Tofu place, thankyouverymuch. Two stars: I do like their soy milk, which was on sale for $ 1.75 for Mother’s Day — for their half gallon size — both sugar and sugar free. I didn’t buy any soy milk since I bought Almond Milk a couple of days ago, but I got to try a cup that my brother got. It was smooth and sweet and refreshing. I also like their fresh made in house silk tofu pudding. They make two kinds — their regular white tofu pudding and their pandan(green coconut flavoring) tofu pudding. Served with their syrup and coconut milk to pour, mix and eat with it. I got the pandan one and it was awesome! The tofu texture was right and it held well without breaking apart in my spoon right away and mixed with 1 teaspoon each of the syrup and coconut milk = bomb!!! Granted, they didn’t have my tofu cubes that I wanted, but they got the other stuff that I dig.

I’ve been coming here over a decade and a half ago, with my mom to buy tofu, soymilk, and sweet tofu pudding. However that has nothing to do with the ratings. The soymilk here is really really good. Perfectly slightly sweetened and full of rich soy flavor. The hot half gallon soymilk is $ 2.25 and the cold refrigerated one is $ 1.75. There are sweet and unsweetened versions but I prefer sweet so I won’t have to sweeten at home. The tofu block is very soft, creamy, and delicious as is or fried. Fried tofu pieces are 2 for $ 1 I like how theyre always so consistent with their products!

Cheap, convenient. This is an awesome little tofu shop located right next to the Asian Garden Mall. Their soy bean milk is delicious, and well priced at 1.75 for a half gallon. It’s not super sweet, which I like. Their giant pieces of fried tofu are also a great deal, 2 large palm sized pieces for a dollar. My favorites are the chili lemon grass, and the mushroom. Next time I’m going to get some of their fresh made silken tofu for soups.

We come here for fresh hot soy bean milk(be careful not to burn yourself). They also have some in the fridge but I think the hot one is $ 0.50 more. We also get the mini banh cam when they have it 4 for $ 1.00 and fresh tofu. They also have other tofu items here as well. Parking spots are few but I’ve never had a problem parking. You just run in and grab what you want so parking is fine.

I love their tofu pudding with ginger syrup. Always fresh. I realized both their tofu pudding and the ginger syrup itself are so good that when put together, this place leaves the impression for the best tofu pudding i’ve ever tried! When i come to the asian garden mall, i always drop by here too and buy their tofu pudding, and also their ‘rice and bean’ things. :)

Fresh tofu every day. No lines, no need to park. Just run in, throw a dollar and three quarters down, grab a block, and run out. Yes mom, I got the tofu. Tofu is a staple of my diet, so I can’t complain since this place is responsible for keeping me alive. If you know of any other better viet tofu places, msg me!

This is one of the«fancier» tofu joints I’ve seen so far. I have become a recent fan of the soybean pudding dessert and only a few places in SoCal have this product and I heard that this place has it. And they do have a couple different versions including a green version too. It’s pretty cheap at $ 2.50 per container with the ginger syrup. Maybe on this first visit here, I wasn’t feeling this soybean pudding. So keep that in mind, since that it is home-made here, that the quality may or may not be so good, so unfortunately I didn’t get the best sample. I would still come back again and get some more soybean pudding though. They also have fried tofu at 7 for $ 1. And lots and lots of soy milk too. These guys have their own parking right off the street so it’s convenience is a major plus. And it’s cash only here at this tofu joint.

Basically, this place is where you go to satisfy your tofu needs. They sell cubed or thickly-sliced tofu by the dollar amounts. They offer black mushroom, lemon grass and chili, and plain tofu either cubed or thick. They also sell the silky tofu dessert that comes with a sweet ginger syrup and tapioca coconut milk. You can get this one either plain or pandan-flavored, with the latter being the way to go. DELICIOUS. Besides that, they have other food items that are worth trying as well, especially if you’re new to Vietnamese foods. Difficult to find parking at times, and it does get very aggravating to even DRIVE in this area, but the street this place is located on is a little haven away from all the crazy traffic and drivers. Cash only. Cheap. Quality tofu.(I feel very Asian writing a review about a tofu place, but that is okay.)

***SOYBEANMILK*** I am not a fan of Silk, the soy bean milk’s brand, that is often sold at American grocery stores. Yet, I love the taste of Vietnamese soy bean milk since I’ve been drinking almost all my life. I often come to Dong Phuong to get soy bean milk. There are a sugar added and a no-sugar added, so pick what you prefer, but I like to add my own sugar. The milk is easily perishable so consume within 1.5 week to get best taste. ***BANHGIO*** Their banh gio aka Vietnamese pyramidal rice dumpling with minced pork, wood ear mushroom, and quail egg is screaming delicious. Buy 3 for $ 5. It is too cheap to be true. Taste and texture is very close to what a «banh-gio» that is sold by the night street hawkers in the alleys in Vietnam. What else could you ask you for? I came to Dong Phuong Tofu because it had tofu in it’s name. I heart tofu, I heart tofu products and desserts, I heart tofu in every meal(if I had a choice). You might be in tofu heaven because they sell soy milk, tofu fa(tofu dessert w/ginger syrup), and a array of fried tofu. What I didn’t like was the lady at the counter was a bit pushy. We asked for $ 1 worth of fried tofu(7 pieces), but she counted 14 in our bag. She essentially wanted us to purchase $ 2 worth of fried tofu. When we corrected her, she tossed all the tofu back in the pan and proceeded to count 7 pieces of tofu again. The tofu itself is good! Dong Phuong Tofu is located on Moran Street just below Bolsa Ave. There’s a few«express» parking spots outside their shop reserved for 5 minute parking(though I saw some lady situated in her car just reading the paper!).

I can’t believe I ever thought of soybeans as just a boring meat substitute that uncreative vegetarians used on their burgers. Soybeans make great appetizers at sushi bars; their milk makes a delicious drink; puffy and fried, they go better in drunken noodles than most meat; and apparently they also shape up well as pandan-green tofu custard with coconut milk and ginger syrup, as found at Dong Phuong! I’ve tried this dessert before once, a couple years ago, but the friend who introduced it to me pronounced it rotten and threw it away. Ever since then, I’ve been looking for a place that specialized in it so I could taste how it tastes when it’s not rotten. Dong Phuong has giant canisters of the stuff. Like 16oz plus of just the tofu, and then the sauces on top of that. Fearing it would take me days to eat that much, I asked the lady behind the counter if they had smaller versions. Nope. OK, well, how much for the giant one? $ 3.25. $ 3.25? Well, I guess it doesn’t matter then, does it? It has indeed taken me three days to eat(even with Dan helping) but it is DELICIOUS. Slurpy, smooth, not too sweet, and an ideal bowl of dessert on a sunny day. Their selection’s not limited to what I got, but I figured I would reach my tofu quota for the week eating that huge canister and didn’t get anything else. I’ll be back, though. Every time we try to fry puffy tofu at our house, we fail, so perhaps Dong Phuong will come to the rescue!
