We visited Gypsy’s Tea Room for a spontaneous girls’ outing when my sister-in-law visited from out of town. What a treat! They are excellent on every level. The setting is darling, as it’s in one of the area’s oldest surviving buildings. The staff go out of their way to ensure that your tea experience is fun and welcoming. The food is delicious(summer minestrone soup and lemon bars are both to die for!), and the teas were fantastic! We’ve been to a number of other tea rooms throughout the country and this is in the top two for the most pleasurable experience that we’ve had. We’ll be returning as soon as possible.

For my friends birthday she wanted to do something different so we came here. You can set up a reservation online, and you can pre-order what you want ahead of time. I opted for only the scone meal, which was perfect for me. I got the strawberry kiwi tea, and it came out in a large, adorable china pot. I got around 4 – 5 cups out of it! The tea was great, I highly recommend it. My scones were also super delicious. Service was attentive and great. This place really pays attention to details, all the way down to what the servers wear. The gift shop is awesome too! This is a fantastic spot to come for lunch.

Was here for the second time yesterday, and it was even better than the first. The Almond Berry tea was delicious, and we loved the food. It’s hard to single out a favorite, but I especially enjoyed the white chocolate chip scone, the goat(?) cheese and fresh herb quiche, and the little chicken salad sandwich. We had a wonderful time and will definitely return, maybe for one of the«event» teas, like the upcoming Downton Abbey Tea.

Loved everything! Huge list of teas to pick from and they allow you to switch out your tea if you don’t like it. I got an iced tea as well as the hot tea. Food was so yummy especially the scone! Great service too. Can’t wait to go back.

So I have to start by saying that I’ve never had tea anywhere else so I have nothing to compare it to, but I’ve been to gypsy’s tearoom twice with work friends and I don’t really have anything bad to say about it. Both times have been with a large group of people and they have always been able to accomodate us. The servers are extremely knowledgeable and very willing to help selecting the tea. The whole experience there is just very nice. If you get there early you can do a little shopping, get some samples or be seated at your table and start looking at the menu. They take your coats and hang them for you, too. The place itself looks like an old house and there are several different rooms that you can have your tea in. Everyone gets their own pot and then you get a pre fixe menu of items for a light lunch. The one we did had scones, soup, and salad, then a couple of light things for dessert as well. We did have some men in our party as well, and although it’s mostly a girly thing, there’s nothing so over the top that men can’t enjoy too. This last time we also had a birthday in the group so someone ordered one their teapot cakes and we also had that for dessert. It was a poundcake with white buttercream icing, very good!

I love Gypsy’s, especially at Christmastime. Unlike other tea rooms, it’s not too foofy, so you can feel completely okay about including men in your party. The décor is understated and tasteful. The food is always delicious, and the service is usually great.

In a world that rates and ranks everything… this is my second favorite tea room. It is located in Westminster but worth the drive. It is a lovely house with each room decorated in a different theme. There is a menu that lets you select from many options… afternoon tea, etc. The scones are always delicious and there are different flavors but all that I have had have been delightful. The courses you select are served in a very inviting way. The sandwiches are served on tiered plates. They find a way to make the ingredients work together even though it may not first appear that way. They had so many flavors of tea just keep trying one from their long list. I always enjoy the ones that have strawberry or some fruit base. They have decaffienated ones too for those who prefer this. One of the nice things about this room is that they really welcome children. I believe they have to be 6 years old but they will have a great experience in the tea room. It would be great to take your daughter or grandaughter and start a tradition. They may fight you on this cause this is something they might not think is too cool but if you persist they will enjoy the experience. Would not surprise me if it becomes a yearly outing. Cant wait to have a grandaughter and introduce her to the tearoom. Just hope it is still around as many tearooms that existed are not around anymore..

This has become a new mother-daughter tradition every time I go back home to Baltimore to visit my family. Both times I have come have been during the Christmas season, when they decorate Gypsy’s with pretty Christmas decorations, and the whole place is filled with happy holiday cheer. Gypsy’s is a cute and charming tea house with multiple rooms of different themes(i.e.: the study has a fireplace and is more cozy). They have so many options for tea menus, but we always get the full afternoon tea because it is so delicious! The first item they bring out is the tea, along with a soup that has a savory broth and mixed vegetables. Next comes the scones, and we were fortunate enough to try their heavenly butterscotch scone, which was warm, soft, moist, and melted in your mouth. I also enjoyed the clotted cream and preserve that accompanied it. This was followed by a two tiered tray of delectable tea sandwiches(i.e.: chicken salad, cucumber, ham and cheese, apple and cheese) and sweets(i.e.: coconut mango truffle, chocolate cupcake, raspberry crumble, and fresh fruit). All of this was than topped with a refreshing lemon sorbet to clean our palettes at the end of the meal. For tea, the last time I tried the french silk, and it was heavenly. I had my own pot of warm vanilla scented tea with a hint of chocolate, and it really warmed me up. I have also tried the Irish Breakfast, Chai, Oolong, and English Afternoon, and they were all wonderful too. I also appreciate that they bring cute covers for the tea pots to help keep the tea warm, and all of the spouts have a decorative spill catch to help when pouring into their pretty china cups. After enjoying tea, stop upstairs to check out their store, since they sell a variety of beautiful tea sets, yummy baked goods, aromatic teas, and preserves and jams. This way, if you really like something, you can take a little home with you too!
