Upon entering the property I remarked on how quaint the atmosphere was. The duck pond and trickling water were very relaxing. We got a table by the window where we could see the ducks swimming by. The wine list was decent and the menu looked promising. We ordered the Malbec, Shiraz, roasted duck, shrimp and scallop tortellini, and spinach artichoke dip(oh, and a prime rib to go). While waiting for the food to come we thoroughly enjoyed the bread basket– corn fritters, pecan rolls AND dinner rolls. The crispy on the outside, soft on the inside corn fritters were my favorite. The food arrived and I was not impressed. The presentation was okay and it tasted like something one can concoct in a first attempt with a recipe from Fine Dining. The flavor of the duck with what was supposed to be orange sauce left a lot to be desired(I neglected to taste much orange in the«orange» sauce). The skin was soggy and the leg meat was stringy and overcooked. The tortellini tasted like the packaged stuff the working moms cook for quick weekday meals. The spinach artichoke dip lacked artichoke. I was disappointed at this promising menu. The customer service was okay. She checked in twice during the meal to refill water and wine. I did have concerns about the serving tray table at the end of my table that sat with a growing collection of table scraps and dirty dishes for 30 minutes. At about 8:45pm, the restaurant grew still and quiet. By 9pm, we were the only ones in that section of the restaurant as two staff members buzzed cleaning tables and preparing for what looked like a Sunday brunch. The city girl in me is not used to restaurants shutting down so early, but I guess there is no need for extended hours in such a rural area. I won’t be back in a hurry but my friend from the area likely would because of convenience.

The Old Mill has you at «bread basket». There’s not better bread basket than the one you’ll get here, stocked with cinnamon buns and corn fritters you dip in maple syrup(even for dinner!) Food is good, but you go for the experience, it’s very beautiful and nice to walk around and take photos, plus visit the gift shop or get some pretzels and cheese in the pub with a beer while you wait for a table. Sunday brunches are always good, this is the type of place you bring a big family for a special occasion but also nice for a dinner for two.

Nice for the area — fun to bring out of the area guests to. Food is decent, nothing spectacular, but their«bread» baskets consist of fritters, cinnamon buns, and other yummy goodies — a highlight. Staff seems to be hit or miss in terms of service. Bar area is cute and fun!

After waiting 35 minutes past our reservation time(even though there were plenty of empty tables), we were finally seated. The baked potatoes that came with our meal were not at all hot, and it was clear they had been cooked quite awhile before we got them; I’m sure they’d been baked but they definitely tasted microwaved. My husband got pork chops and he said they were just ok. Another person at our table got the duck and didn’t care for it and the baked haddock was extremely dry. It’s a wonderful atmosphere but unfortunately the food is not good enough for us to return.

We went here for Thanksgiving today and it was fabulous. We have dined at several restaurants for the holiday over the years, and this was by far the most enjoyable. The food was incredibly plentiful and delicious. Most of all, our server, Chad was absolutely extraordinary. Many thanks to all of the staff there for making our holiday so lovely!

Went to have dinner at the Cracker Barrel Lounge today, late afternoon. Stood in the doorway waiting for someone to acknowledge us and no one did. Finally one of the waiters came over to clear a table and I asked him how long it would be to get a table for two. He told me he would check. While waiting, an older couple came in and went and sat down at a table that had just been vacated and not yet cleared. Still waiting for the waiter to come back to seat us which he never did, I went over to the bar and told the bar manager that we were here first and that this couple just cut in front of us and took the table. She then asks me if I gave her my name and I told her I didn’t realize I had to. Her response was«yup» and that I would have to wait 45 minutes. I was confused as to why neither the waiter or this bar manager girl who clearly saw us standing there never bothered to come over and take our name if that was how it worked. Clearly the couple she saw take over the vacated table did not put there names in and she didn’t seem to care at all that they just cut in. She was extremely rude and so we left. «Yup» I won’t be back and I would never recommend it to anyone unless they want to be treated like they are bothering the staff.

The excellent food, great old building and excellent and delightful surrounds overcame the rude waitress — the experienced one who was coaching the new one.

Wanted a local place while in town. Had dinner in the pub — nice atmosphere, several regulars staff knew and visited with which slowed service a bit but not annoyingly. Had the crab ravioli — was good, sauce a little heavy for me but tasted good, lots of crabmeat. If you are vegetarian not much choice on menu. Server said their onion soup is excellent(vs clam chowder). Setting is beautiful with the stream, took time to feed the ducks. Would definitely return.

Very nice atmosphere both upstairs and in the pub. Very warm downstairs with the fire going. The rolls that are provided prior to dinner are amazing! The food has been very good each time we went. The only thing I would say is that the beer selection is not very good. I am not looking for anything crazy, rather some good beer from the region. New England is filled with small breweries and there are many that would compliment the food and environment of this place more so then Harp. and Wach. As those are pretty standard anywhere you go. Boost the beer selection and this place is a gem!

I can’t begin to describe how much of a disaster our party of 8 New Year’s dinner was. I can understand the staff being busy but they can lose the attitude for no reason and whoever the host is that we asked a question to, can go as well. Buffet, no food was out we waited relentlessly for food to come out, everything was missing. Never, ever again will we be back.

This place is hit or miss. My wife and a come here for our anniversary but last time we stopped by the food was very bland. The pecan rolls were raw and the potatoes were not cook either.

Service — wonderful. We get courtney as our waitress every time we are there. Shes the best! Ambiance — old school. We tend to go downstairs for lunch or dinner. Love it in the fall with the wood and brick… nice fire going Food — I got the seafood newburgh special. Oustanding! Nice fresh seafood, pasta w a s cooked perfectly and the sauce was excellent. It wasnt smothered either. Salad was good. Its a salad nothing special but ive seen worse, homemade ranch dressing was tasty. Nice fresh warm buns and corn fritters. Very very good. Kids meals are surprisingly big and they dont crap out on the quality. Ive noticed other restaraunts do that on their kids meals but not here. In the past ive always got the roast duck w the orange sauce, which I highly recommend. Drinks — they have good draft beers. They also have special martinis for the seasons. Got the pumpkin spice martini w sugar and cinnamon rimmed glass. Tasty

I agree with the last reviewer, and I almost gave this place one star, but we loved our waitress — she was awesome. Bartender was great too. I wanted so badly to go to the kitchen and tell the«chef» what I thought of his behavior, but thought better of it. I ordered the steak special, a NY strip, medium rare. My husband is a vegetarian, so he got the penne pasta alfredo with broccoli. We loved the corn fritters and pecan rolls that came out. I ordered a martini to be served with my dinner, but it came out right away. I didn’t mind, since it was perfect. Usually when I say«Very dry» they don’t believe me. This was dry. It was a bit of a wait for our dinners, but we were in no rush, and we enjoyed the view, the snacks and the drinks. My steak arrived, and it was cooked medium well. It was my birthday dinner, and I don’t eat steak very much. I had REALLY been looking forward to a good steak. I asked my husband if he thought it was overdone, and he agreed whole-heartedly. We told the waitress, and she took it back to the kitchen. The«chef» made her take it back to me and tell me that the lighting in the room was not good, and I couldn’t see that he had actually cooked it perfectly! I was shocked. She stood there while I tried it and confirmed to her that it was actually overcooked. She said he would cook one rare for me, but that’s how they do medium rare. I told her, «Sure, give it to me rare.» BIG mistake. She immediately came back with a RAW steak. I was fed up at that point and made the decision to cook it at home the next day. Even doing that, it wasn’t a very good steak, as far as the quality. My husband’s meal was delicious, but I will never order a steak at the Old Mill again.

This restaurant has earned one star for the atmosphere. which stops at the door. Don’t let the picturesque scenery fool you. This was the worst restaurant experience ever! Reservation was made for a group of ten and when we arrived at the restaurant we were informed that they were running an hour behind. We waited patiently and eventually were seated. The waitress was disheveled and abrupt. When asked about an item on the menu she became VERY snippy and rude. She forgot some of the salads and made sure you knew you were putting her out if you asked for anything. The meals came and two steaks were returned as they were very undercooked. After being sent back one steak still came back cold and underdone. Meals were lukewarm and steak was bland. Nice place to feed the ducks… but save your money and eat elsewhere.

The last time I had been to the Old Mill was exactly 50 years ago for my senior prom. It impressed the hell out of my 18 year old date. Fast forward 50 years and my siblings and I are in Westminster for a memorial service for our Dad, whose ashes we just scattered. My older sister suggested the Old Mill, since most of us had taken dates here as high school or college kids. The food and service were fine and the ambiance hasn’t changed in 50 years. The prices were very reasonable and overall a most pleasant meal considering the circumstances.

Terrible, just had an after ski dinner in the tavern and from the start it was Bad. The service was poor, the menu was limited due to the fact it was Valentines, the house wine is like medicine and the steak tip salad was good size but full of lousy lettuce and drenched in high calorie/fat dressing. Will not return for a long time. Too bad it’s a great location and full of character &scenery.

Great food, ambiance is stellar! Huge fireplace, warm and sweet interior… that being said, HANDSDOWNTHEWORSTSERVICEEVERRR! Waitress/bartender literally treated the entire lounge like dogs. She was swearing, yelling at customers, complaining about her life, and the owner the entire time we were there. This is the second time we witnessed her behavior and will not return untill she is no longer employed ther. Which is a shame, it’s such a cute place! Clean up your act Old Mill!
