I’ve been going to this office for years. Dr. Self did my LASIK surgery years ago and it turned out great, so I’ve just stayed here. However, Dr. Self just retired and a new doctor took over… And I’m not positive I’m going to keep coming here unless they fix whatever’s wrong in the office. Dr. Montgomery did the things I needed; I got my eye exam and a prescription. Done. I think he was careful in how he examined me, and I liked his assistant who prepped me. But I had to wait in the waiting room for an hour before I was even put in an exam room, which is a huge problem for me. How bad is your scheduling system if my appointment was at 9 and you’re already that far behind? Now, I have to assume since they are switching over all office staff and everything seems to be new, that this will get better. So I’ll probably try him again next time I need to see a doctor… But if it’s not fixed, I’m definitely out of there. The days where you’d go to a doctor and always wait an hour to see them have been long gone in every other doctor’s office I’ve been to recently; let’s hope they will soon figure out what’s wrong and fix it. People’s time is just too valuable to waste.

I was not at all pleased with my visit with Dr. Self. I came in because I was experiencing significant soreness, redness and dryness in my eyes and wasn’t sure of the cause. When I told him of my concerns, he took a quick look at my eyes, said that nothing was wrong and that I should take fish oil to help with dryness. I did appreciate the recommendation — this was probably the only positive thing about my experience. He was condescending and somewhat short with me, and had an overall lacking bedside manner. At the time I was wearing contacts and he recommended I get laser eye surgery, but failed to tell me I could get it at the age I was at that time(at another clinic) presumably because his clinic would’ve made me wait another three years — I think he just wanted the business. To top it all off, his office was careless about billing my insurance company — when I talked to the billing person for his office(who was even more rude than Dr. Self) she seemed to have put that I came in for no real reason, so my insurance didn’t accept the claim, and I had to pay $ 125 for a 10 minute eye exam. Ridiculous! Needless to say I have not gone back, and never will!
