I’m sure this place has changed in the 30+ years it’s been in the neighborhood. I’m not sure if it was ever called this, but my dad always referred to this place as Williams Liquors since it really was where Williams St. would have run in to Ogden if it went through. I know that my parents were going here when I was a SUPER little kid, so it’s been around for at least 25 years. I’m also sure someone like my dad would be shocked at their beer selection today. Williams was the kind of place that used to sell a lot of domestic beer in large quantities and porn mags… and that seemed to be about it. You could even get domestic bottles in the old wooden crates(24 packs only) and you would bring back the bottles in the crate and get new ones when you were ready. It was the 80s, people, so they definitely don’t still do this. WL still sells domestic beer and porn mags, but they’ve significantly expanded their beer and alcohol selection. I was surprised at coming in here for the first time as an adult that a small liquor store in Westmont had a lot of hard-to-find and«trendy» alcohols and cocktails as well as tons of trendy craft beers, including from smaller Illinois establishments. Prices are on-point with every other place in the area(including Jewel) but Williams is really convenient because all they sell is liquor, so you don’t have to go walking through a gigantic store just to get to the liquor. You can be in and out in like two minutes. Oh, and they’re open on Christmas in case you’re like my family and have Bloody Mary emergencies for your Christmas morning brunch.

An old storefront with a massage joint next door didn’t look too welcoming to me. Can probably see it hasn’t been reviewed yet. Inside had a large craft beer selection. Be sure to check the dates on anything you buy as I saw quite a few old items. They had every bottle from the Sierra Nevada 30th anniversary series from last year, an 2010 vintage Sierra Nevada Bigfoot and the now-discontinued Glissade spring seasonal. Was surprised the owner had never heard of the Great Lakes beer I asked him about, considering how much stuff he had.
