I have always wanted to try this place ! It looks beautiful from the outside and nice on the inside. Finally, my fiancé took me for a dinner here and I was disappointed. The food was ok but they give such small portions and what annoyed me the most was that they cut the rigatoni pasta into pieces which is something I have never seen. It’s also kind of strange that there are hardly any Italians serving there. I’m all for equal employment opportunities but the staff is all Hispanic it just threw me off.

Was pretty excited to introduce my family to this place so we made a reservation about 3 days ago for 8 people for Sunday brunch. They then call the day before our reservation and tell us they can’t keep their word now and we’d have to do it an hour earlier. When I asked if we could come a half hour earlier they said«yeah but you have to be out by xx: xx we have parties». Thanks a lot. You screwed up not us, don’t put us down for a reservation you can’t keep. And especially don’t call the day before to tell us you screwed up.

Been to this restaurant over 20 times over the years. Never had a bad meal. The fried calimari is excellent and I always get the Pollo Romana, even though it hasn’t been«on the menu» in years(they always accommodate the request). The pastas are also excellent. A rock solid go-to Italian restaurant that is my favorite in the area.

Lunch review: We were a party of 14 for lunch in the private back room. it was very private and perfect for our event. The space and restaurant is also beautiful and tastefully decorated. Normally when large parities go out to eat everyone is at one long table where you can’t talk or see the people at the other end. Our two tables were joined together so we were all able to eat around the same table. We were able to talk and see everyone like we were eating at home. Food was great! Good quality and nice portion size italian food. Everything was really tastey and fresh. We ordered everything under the sun tons of different appetizers, soups and all different meals and it was all good. not one complaint on the food. We did not order pizza it was all entrees. Great cheeses, meats and yummy calamari. The service was great, they explained all items on the menu clearly. The staff was always refilling our waters and served us promptly. They were accommodating serving and cutting our cake. This place as perfect for our small event. We were looking for a place with a private room something indoors but wanted something that had a nicer vibe. Many of the places we looked at with a private room in the surrounding area either was not fancy enough(bar style foods like burgers) or charged an extra amount for a catered style event with a separate menu. On top of that, we were there for an extremely long time and we didn’t feel rushed or pressured to leave.

Wish we could give half stars as two seems harsh but if I’m judging my last meal there, then two stars it is. I will say the food is normally much better. We shared two appetizers — the baked artichokes, Carciofi Romana, which are always good and tonight was no exception, and the mussels, Cozze in Brodo. The mussels were plump and fresh but clearly, a vast quantity of butter had been used and as a result, the mussels were swimming in a thick, slightly congealed substance much like a gravy. My entrée, Rainbow Trout a Limone, suffered again from an overdose of butter, resulting in a thick, slightly congealed sauce. Normally, the fish dishes are great and there is a much defter hand cooking them — maybe there is a new chef? Was there on a Tuesday — maybe go on a different night.

I went there with my family. We had fabulous service always quick. My mom had pappardelle pasta it was amazing. The thick pasta and wonderful sausage was outstanding. I had the pollo mozzarella it was also good I would highly recommend it as well as there specials. For an appetizer I had minestrone soup it was fabulous it had a load of vegetables and a thin tomato soup it was very warm not to hot.

Went to Via Sforza Trattoria with my fiancée for dinner on a Saturday night in September. First impression: everyone in the restaurant sat behind Jesus in school. Seriously, everyone was 65 or over — I had to double check my watch and ensure it wasn’t the 4:30pm early bird special crowd. Took about 20min to get a table — ok, good food is worth the wait. Ordered a glass of red to start — it sucked, like seriously bladder wine is better. We each ordered an appetizer and an entrée — pretty standard. Apps come in about 20min, I had a pizza, she did a salad. Pizza was good, not great, but good. Her salad looked ok. We then began the great wait for our two pasta entrees. After 45min I inquired with the server, he assured me he didn’t forget about me. Another 20 or so minutes go by, no food. Nearly an hour and a half after ordering our pasta dishes arrive. Seriously — 90min to plate par cooked pasta? I asked for the manager and this little rotund individual comes over to tell me they are busy tonight. Really? That’s your best excuse? He then offered me another glass of terrible wine on the house. I declined and asked for the check. The food wasn’t bad, but hardly reminded me of Italy. My pasta was standard dried pasta and over cooked. Honestly, a jar of Rao’s and some fresh pasta from Whole Foods/Fairway/Stews would be better. The pizza wasn’t bad. But this is Fairfield County, CT — no shortage of good pizza. Service sucked. The wait for the food was just pathetic. I guess the retired crowd has more time to spend waiting… As someone who worked in hospitality for many years, my advice to this restaurant would be to hire a consultant to help you work through your kitchen and management issues.

I have been here for brunch few times on their new prefix menu that now they have, the price keeps going up for some reason it started at $ 19.99. Food is OK nothing spectacular and their set up is buffet style which I hate! I will never go back again for brunch, staff is not helpful at all not to mention the owner… doesn’t even look at you or thank you for going in. I have been here many times for dinner dining from a regular full price menu which is not that cheap for my taste… and the experience didn’t get any better. it is dead in my book!

Ate outside under a frame covered in grapevines. Nice ambience and attentive service. Standouts were the Clams Casino and the Calde Anti Pasti which we really enjoyed. Great Pizzas too and a solid wine list. Not over-priced either sealed the score!

For one of the first Sundays in a while we were able to have brunch at an actual«brunch» time and not 9AM. For weeks we’ve been passing by this restaurant and saw their sandwich board advertising brunch and finally decided to stop. The parking lot was usually always filled for dinner so we figured it couldn’t be all that bad. We arrived a few minutes before 11 and were greeted warmly by the hostess(owner?) who had us seated and provided water and mimosas. The hospitality of the restaurant was great along with the charming Italian atmosphere. Loved the back private room with its iron gate and wine bottles. Now onto the important stuff… the food. For $ 23.95/pp it was an amazing spread. I’m a traditional brunch girl, usually I enjoy French Toast and some sort of meat product along with a mimosa(or two) and fruit. I don’t eat eggs however my date had the eggs cooked in tomato sauce and loved them. Everything was available from bread pudding(which I sampled) to French Toast and pancakes, fritatas and cannolis. A spread of delectable, mouth watering Italian dishes along with piping hot minestrone soup finished off the spread. Honestly it will definitely be a place to return not only for brunch but for dinner as well!

Everytime I’ve passed this charming restaurant the parking lot has been filled, so when I saw they were serving brunch at 11am, I made sure I got there promptly at 11. It was a good idea, as some larger groups started to arrive 10 minutes later. There was a great buffet selection both from what appears to have been their standard menu and some usual and creative breakfast selections. I like a savory breakfast and had the incredible frittata, some very spicy and tasty«Italian» eggs, fabulous bacon, very nice chicken marsala and mediocre breakfast sausages. My date prefers sweet, so she had French toast and a lovely apple and pecan bread pudding. She insisted I try the French toast, and I immediately went and got some. Wow… this was truly the best French toast either of us have ever had!!! Service was wonderful, we sat down and were immediately offered either orange juice with or without Prosecco, to make a tasty and refreshing Mimosa. I asked for iced coffee, not usually on their menu, and they made it for me. The iced coffee was perfect, apparently as was the regular coffee! All this for $ 23.95. While there is a shortage of brunch venues in this area, I can tell you that I will be a regular diner, both for brunch and now for dinner as well. Even If there was a plethora of brunch venues, I would and will be a regular at Via Sforza Tratoria!

Went for Mothers Day brunch. For buffet style, the food quality was quite good. Not a terribly creative menu but for feeding as many as theft were trying to feed in a short period of time, not bad. Would be willing to try out they’re regular dinner menu to see if they do better with that.

I’ve been here twice, once for dinner and once for brunch. I am obsessed with the brunch! It’s everything an Italian needs after church on a Sunday! My dinner was delicious as well but I felt it was a tad over priced. Nonetheless I will definitely be returning for dinner and brunch!

Great intimate atmosphere. Not too loud, and the food and service is amazing! The food is not over cooked or undercooked, and all of it tastes handmade. The desserts are spectacular. They are displayed instead of choosing from a typical menu. I recommend the Tiramisu and the chocolate/vanilla mousse cake

Had green salad and Manicotti plus glass of wine. Wine was the only saving grace. Salad was OK but boring — Manicotti took 45 minutes and then came out lukewarm. Can’t recommend.

Excellent atmosphere. Loved the private back room and patio eating Great food. Very authentic Italian. Great wine selection. I felt like I wad in a traditional stone Italian café back in Italy. Price is right for portions and quality. Wait staff was super nice. Great date night resistant but also great for corporate dining and friends night out.

Wood fired pizzas are 4 stars and this is my preferred pizza take out in Westport along with Batali’s Tarry Lodge. My favorite is the margarita with fresh mozzarella. The other options are merely so-so from the appetizers to the salads to the soups to the pastas. Nothing stands out for me to crave but I will eat here often when nearby but more for convenience sake. Lovely structure reminiscent of the Italian countryside. They recently added outdoor seating which was a great thing to do. I also saw a sign for Sunday brunch now though haven’t yet tried it.

Yesterday, I held a surprise birthday brunch for my husband at Via Sforza. There had been a heavy snowstorm the day before, and I was worried that they might not be open. They called me a couple of times to confirm that they would be open, and we had a private room to ourselves in the back of the restaurant. The brunch spread was enormous! The food was delicious, with a huge number of choices, and we all went back for seconds. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful and accommodating. They helped guide my husband to the room where he was totally surprised. And we all had a wonderful time! We have been to Via Sforza many times in the past, and I wrote a review in March 2012. If at all possible, the food and service gets better each time we go. And we will be back.

Milestone birthday dinner, so Via Sforza will always have a special place in my heart. Great wine list — lots of choices to help me accept making the move into my 30s. Eek. Still hurts a bit to type it. Very cool atmosphere — wood burning stove for pizza, and stone work is actually quite beautiful. It’s a pretty big place, but the service is attentive and you feel like you’re in a small restaurant. Gnocchi is the must-get dish. At most places, this any ‘stuffed pasta’ dish is pretty small, but at Via, they serve you enough for two. And it’s delicious. Birthday dinner turned into post birthday lunch. And they even sang to me. While I fought tears. Four stars!
