I went into this shop today. What a shock I am still upset about. I needed help with replicating a hat(no pattern) with products that were purchased at the store. I’ve been knitting for 30 years but I’m no expert and need suggestions on the decreases and bind off techniques for the hat. I waited patiently while the staff person helped a prior customer. When she turned to me, she was beyond rude. «You can look it up on Google or you can listen to me now» and I was scolded for not winding the skeins. «In a world where you can be anything, be kind.»

Spoke with Beth, who apologized profusely. She was very sorry that I had a bad experience. She explained that this person who was so rude to me has«a big following» and that she is commercially savvy. Long story short, Beth prefers to keep this employee to this customer, which is her right. And as the client, I am perfectly happy to shop elsewhere, and suggest to both of my knitting groups that they do the same.

Made a return trip to Westport Yarns 1÷12÷16. The store had several people getting knitting help. The staff was working hard to answer questions about patterns and also help customers shopping for new projects. I enjoyed the store experience. The samples are really interesting — lots to look at and touch. I have to make several circles if the store to see everything and I never felt crowded or rushed. I really like this store. The best parts are : — nice staff and manager on site who are expert knitters and are very encouraging. — top quality fibers — alpaca merino cashmere silk pretty colors soft and worth the investment and your knitting time. — good samples that inspire — time to think and decide There are some so-so reviews but my experiences here have been consistently excellent. It is worth a visit.

Whether you need help with a project, are looking for yarn, patterns, need supplies or just want to browse for inspiration this is the shop for you! The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. They offer a nice selection of yarns and interesting classes. Not being a great knitter, I think I have been there more for help then anything else and every time I go I learn somthing new. I highly recommend Westport yarns!

What a pleasant shopping experience! The sales help was pleasant and didn’t hover too closely. The prices were reasonable as well. The frequent shopper card and the needle summary card were a cute idea.

I am a very frequent shopper at Westport Yarns. I attend Thursday night sit and knits whenever I can. Provides a wonderful opportunity to share my passion. I love to touch, squish and see the yarns I buy. WY has an awesome selection of yarns and the staff is great at helping you find just the right combo for any size project. Highly recommend this lovely small business.

I will not go back… Before the holidays my co worker introduced me back into knitting. Wash clothes. I was hooked, so I went to Westport Yarns to continue on my new found hobbie. The first couple of times I visited I told the salesperson of my little wash clothes I was making and she directed me to the small selection I could choose from, each time I made a purchase. Then I made a mistake in my knitting, uncomfortable as it was, I went in with my knitting in hand. I asked a women sitting at the table for some help, she looked at my work and 1st said the yarn I was using was awful, I told her I had purchased it there, she then went on to say«you need to learn how to correct your own mistakes without coming in here» I said I tried watching videos, she said I also need to learn how to read my stitches… yikes ! I understand all this is true… but I was just seaking a little help. She was rude, condescending and the reason, I will not step foot in that store. I had big plans… joining in on one of the knitting classes, etc. I am forced to shop on line, is one of the friendly sites I found.

This little store is an absolute gem! Wonderful selection of yarns and the staff is so helpful, friendly and super knowledgeable. I’ve also taken a few classes there — they are really good. If you are a serious knitter and you love beautiful yarn, this store is not to be missed!

Formerly known as Knitting Central, a former customer of the store(Beth) didn’t want to see it close and she bought it, keeping all the employees. It’s a delightful place to choose yarn, patterns, get expert advice, take classes, and/or just hang out and knit. I went in with limited experience and Pam was extremely helpful and patient, even adapting a pattern to the kind of yarn I wanted to use. Only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is that I would have liked a greater selection of the type of yarn I wanted… but it wasn’t exactly the right season, so I can’t really fault the store for that. A tremendous resource for knitters of all levels!
