Bantings Nursery

Love this place!!! They have everything! Prices aren’t bad and the staff was very friendly and more than helpful I’ll be back!!!

Good selection, helpful and pleasant staff outside. But on checking out we were treated like crap by the bossy rude cashier.

Bantings can be a bit of a drive if you live in downtown New Orleans, but as a Westbanker I’m happy to make the trek out to Bridge City to hit up Bantings. The prices are very reasonable and the staff are wonderful. Take in a sketch and ask for some recommendations if you’re not sure what you’re in the market for (or like me, unfamiliar with gardening in the area).
They’ve got lots of good stuff for major landscaping projects– trees, shrubs, etc. and a good annual selection. My favorites are the herbs and edibles they keep on the side.

oh wow — have you been to Banting’s lately? IF not, it is DEFINITELY time to go! If you haven’t been — it is a must go-​to for all KINDS of plants — from house plants to shade plants to trees, big plants, small plants, herbs, annuals, perennials, vegetables, shrubs — & everything between — they have pots & planters & statues — & other object d’art for the garden — all kinds of neat décor & zoo poo too!!! for REAL!
I went there recently searching for just the right pot for a plant — & I had been searching all OVER — some were too big, too small, not the right color — but mostly WAY TOO EXPENSIVE — I found the coolest pot (of course it had a fleur de lis on it — subtle, but just right) & THE PRICE was FANTABULOUS!!! & this was a big olé hunker pot too — not a flimsy piece of crud pot! I could have easily spent 30 more dollars on another pot that was not just right! I was so glad I went!
& the staff — GREAT! helpful helpful helpful! — really I cannot wait to go back again — & this time — it will be my FIRST stop!

Banting’s is a much more no frills nursery. They usually have a number of more mature trees and also have local favorites (like banana magnolia) that other growers do not. Since they are no frills, they are also cheaper, sometimes.
