So I needed beaucoup crab for a family party a couple of weekends ago and I called around and it was $$ no matter where I looked. I asked over on the twitters for suggestions and someone said try the Shrimp Lot. So I decided a westbank adventure was just what I needed… The directions from Google maps are junk. You’re looking for the corner of Louisiana and Westbank Expressway. If you see the big Westwego carved sign on the neutral ground… the shrimp lot is on the other side. The lot is comprised of individual businesses set up in lean-tos, sheds, and buildings. Each person has a different selection and different prices. When I was there on a Friday afternoon about half the businesses were occupied. There were a few wholesalers mixed in with the fresh catch items. Prices for shrimp and crabs were excellent and this would be a great choice to buy for your next big boil. The already picked crab? It was only about a $ 1 less than my go to spot in Old Jefferson. But y’know westbank adventure!

About 13 different vendors selling a variety of fresh(and live) seafood; crabs, oysters, trout, red fish, flounder, crawfish, etc. to name a few. Prices are phenomenal, the quality is great and you will leave with more than you originally planned for! Open 7 days a week 9−6pm

Researched via internet where to buy fresh shrimp to bring home from New Orleans and Westwego Shrimp Lot had several post’s. VERY glad I found this place! Great prices, many vendors to chose from. I got there real early thinking that the earlier I got there, the fresher the shrimp would be. Be aware that the hours are from 9am to 7pm. I sat in an empty parking lot for quite awhile waiting for them to open. 1st one open got my business. Take a cooler(or coolers) big enough for your seafood and ice. They supply the ice which was great.

Went to this place for the first time today. Probably NOLA’s best kept secret for inexpensive seafood. It is in westwego but definitely worth the trip. Shrimp for $ 3/lb, decent prices for crabmeat, oysters and live crabs as well. Also picked up some tilapia for 2.50 per fish! Such a good find. I prefer to pay cash but some places take plastic as well.
